REVIEW:FORCE is the fifth instalment in Cassandra Robbins’ contemporary, adult THE DISCIPLES erotic, dark, MC romance series. This is The Disciples MC enforcer Leonardo ‘Ryder’ DeLucca, and twenty-eight year old Julianna Dutch’s story line. FORCE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but for back story and cohesion I recommend reading IGNITE (book 4) and RISE, the first instalment in the author’s ROCK GOD series-a cross over with THE DISCIPLES MC where we are first introduced to Julianna’s best friend Gia Fontaine and rock star Rhys Granger. Some of the events of FORCE cross over with some of the events of the previous story lines.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Ryder and Julianna) following two time-lines (present day and ten years in the past) FORCE follows the age-gap, second chance relationship between Disciples MC enforcer Leonardo ‘Ryder’ DeLucca, and twenty-eight year old Julianna Dutch. Ten years earlier, a then eighteen year old, Julianna was tasked by Axel Fontaine (Ignite 4) to pick up his sister Gia at the Disciples compound, who was suffering with a broken heart, having been rejected by the man that she loved. Julianna would come face to face with her future in the guise of Leonardo ‘Ryder’ DeLucca, the enforcer for the Disciples MC, a man who stirred something deep within our story line heroine but neither Gia nor Julianna was welcome with the Disciples MC, and a few sexual encounters with Ryder meant nothing more than a one-night stand to our story line hero. Fast forward to present day wherein Julianna, finds herself on the run, working her way back to the Disciples MC, where she is still not welcome by the people in charge. A war between the Disciples MC and the Russians is on the horizon, and our couple are about to be caught in the middle, forcing Julianna to take control when no one else was able. What ensues is the building but contemptuous relationship between Ryder and Julianna, and the potential fall-out as Ryder must account for sins of the past.

Julianna Dutch has never stopped loving Ryder DeLucca but Ryder has apparently moved on with someone else.Heading back to Los Angeles to the man that she loved, Julianna knew the only place she felt safe and happy was with the Disciples MC. Ryder DeLucca doesn’t do relationships, doesn’t do love, doesn’t do happily ever afters and knows that to fall in love with Julianna Dutch means to give up control of his heart but threats from the Russian mob force Julianna into action, in an effort to save the people Ryder DeLucca loved.

The relationship between Ryder and Julianna is intense, erotic and highly sexual. Ryder makes no excuses for his behavior or his lust, pushing Julianna outside the limits of her sexual experience. Ryder demands everything and more, and Julianna is willing to give in and give up for the man that she loves.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters, most of whom we have met in previous story lines: Gia Fontaine and Rhys Granger (Rise), Axel and Antoinette (Ignite), Blade and Eve (Lethal), Poet and Charlie (Atone), Edge and Dolly (Repent), as well as Dewey, club hacker Frosty, Ryder’s troubled ex Cindy, Disciples attorney Rodney, Ryder’s attorney Jett Powers, and several members of the Russian mob. The requisite evil has many faces.

FORCE is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, obsession and revelation, family, friendships, relationships and love. The premise is dark, dramatic and intense; the romance is edgy, erotic and impassioned; the characters are determined and charismatic. FORCE ends on an epilogue cliff hanger –you have been warned.
