About the book: Release Date February 26, 2019

Audrey Martinez is a veterinarian who has devoted her whole life to the care and protection of horses—even if doing so leaves her little time for meeting a man. Who would have thought that a strange case of criminal horseplay would lead her to falling deeply, wildly in love? If only the man who makes her heart race faster than a wild mustang would let his guard down, that is. . .

Caleb Harper is no ordinary cowboy. Sure, he wears his hat, boots, and jeans like a second skin, and displays an easygoing charm that comes from years of working on the ranch. But with his military background, and Army buddies at his side, he is tried-and-true Texas tough. Audrey knows she can trust a man like Caleb to help her save horses. But can Caleb trust himself to resist his attraction to Audrey—or will the sparks of their desire end up getting them burned?

REVIEW: MY FAVORITE COWBOY is the third instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult HEART OF TEXAS erotic, romance series. This is rancher and former Green Beret Caleb Harper and veterinarian Audrey Martinez’ story line. MY FAVORITE COWBOY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person perspectives including Caleb and Audrey MY FAVORITE COWBOY follows the building relationship between rancher and former Green Beret Caleb Harper and veterinarian Audrey Martinez. Audrey Martinez struggles to identify the recent illness of several horses, unexplained and strange illnesses that point to a potential crime of poisoning. An attack against Audrey’s sister Maddy leaves our heroine vulnerable and alone forcing neighbour and rancher Caleb Harper, and his former army buddies to make it their responsibility to protect the woman with whom Caleb will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Caleb and Audrey, and the potential fall-out as Audrey is targeted by someone from her past, and Caleb is unable to accept the woman in his life.

Caleb Harper knows rejection first hand, and in this our hero is unable to let go of the past. Falling for Audrey Martinez meant falling for someone who could break his heart someone he was about to push out of his life. Audrey Martinez, along with her sister Audrey know love and loss first hand following the death of their mother, and the subsequent disappearance of their grieving father. Meeting Caleb Harper gave Audrey a chance at her own happily ever after, a happily ever after threatened by someone from her past.

The relationship between Audrey and Caleb is one of immediate attraction but Audrey is struggling to uncover the truth behind the recent series of equine illness, and the attack against her sister meant to send a message regarding Audrey’s investigation. Caleb refuses to leave Audrey to fend for herself but miscommunication and memories from the past begin to interfere in their growing love. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Audrey’s sister Maddy; Clayton and Abby Harper (The Christmas Cowboy Hero #1), Naomi and Brice Harper (Cowboy, Cross my Heart #2), Brice and Caleb’s friends Jace Wilder, and Cooper Owens; and local sheriff Danny Oldman. The requisite evil has many faces.

MY FAVORITE COWBOY is a story of family, friendship, vengeance, suspense and love. The premise is intriguing; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic, strong-willed and dynamic but both struggle with issues from the past. I did have a couple of problems accepting the reasons behind the attacks against Audrey, her sister, and the horses-motivations that seemingly come out of nowhere; as well as both family histories resolving in the same story line, resolutions that are too quick and convenient.

Damn.
It was the first thought that went through Caleb’s mind as he stared at the fine ass before him. He’d gotten enough of a look that morning to recognize the woman as the same one he’d spotted when they arrived at the auction house.
Audrey Martinez.
If he’d known what a fine specimen she was, Caleb would’ve made her acquaintance years ago.
He found himself smiling when he caught Audrey’s whispered retort to her sister in Spanish. Caleb glanced over at his brother and Clayton to see both of them star- ing at him.
That wiped the grin from his face. He shot them a con- fused look and mouthed, “What?”
Neither said a word as they returned their attention to the women.
Caleb adjusted his cowboy hat atop his head as David ambled up. The strain around the older man’s eyes had only intensified as the day progressed. He’d asked them not

to tell anyone they were trying to fix the cameras, which had seemed like an easy request.
Until some of the employees asked what Brice and Ca- leb were doing. They were quick to come up with an expla- nation, however.
Audrey pushed away from the stall and turned to them. Her gaze landed on Caleb first but quickly slid to Clayton. Caleb tried not to be annoyed that his brother-in-law had been granted a smile.
But he was irritated.
“Hello,” Audrey said as she walked up to Clayton and held out her hand. “I’m Audrey Martinez.”
Clayton clasped her hand briefly. “I’ve heard a lot about you, Ms. Martinez. I’m Clayton East.”
“Please, call me Audrey.” Then large, dark eyes wid- ened. “East? As in the East Ranch?”
David chuckled and slapped Clayton on the back. “The very one. I’ve sold a lot of horses for both Clayton and his father.”
“And we’ve bought a lot of them from you,” Clayton added with a grin. He then motioned to Brice and Caleb. “These are my brothers-in-law, Brice and Caleb Harper.”
Audrey’s gaze moved to Brice, who tipped his hat to her. “Ma’am.”
Caleb waited until her eyes were on him before he reached up and touched the edge of his hat. “Nice to meet you.”
He found himself awestruck, though he couldn’t put a finger on why. He drank in her golden-brown skin, dark eyes, and black hair that denoted Audrey’s Spanish heri- tage.
Her oval face was covered in a light sheen of sweat that

gave it a beautiful glow. He wanted to wipe his thumb over her wide, full lips before he kissed her.
Because he was going to kiss her.
Caleb had never walked away from someone he was attracted to, and he certainly wasn’t about to start now. Audrey didn’t just have a stunning face, she also had the hourglass figure that always brought him to his knees.
Audrey licked her lips and glanced away. Caleb nearly groaned at the sight of her pink tongue. Then he remem- bered that they weren’t alone. And they were dealing with a very serious situation.
But once everything was in hand, he was going to pur- sue Audrey.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 25, 2019

What do you do when a sexy, older man moves into your family’s summer rental?

Well, apparently, you make a fool of yourself—over and over. Things didn’t exactly get off on the right foot with Noah Cavallari. Our first encounter was embarrassing, to say the least.

But despite that, I found myself waking up every day with a newfound energy. Nothing exciting ever happened on the lake—not until Noah moved into the small boathouse on our property. He’d booked it for the entire summer…and I was still trying to figure out why.

When my mother became ill, I inherited the responsibility of making sure our guests were well taken care of. I should have been in college. Instead, I was living my best life…as a maid.

Dark, handsome, and mysterious, everything about Noah screamed forbidden.

I knew he was just passing through town for the summer.

I knew he was probably too old for me.

Yet, I was drawn to him.

Not to mention, he tried to save my life when he mistakenly thought I was drowning.

I wanted him and made no secret of it.

His own attempts to warn me away soon gave way to late-night moonlight chats by the lake. We were slowly easing into a friendship that was gearing up to explode into something I might not recover from.

Because he’s leaving at the end of the summer.

And I have no idea what I’ll do when August ends.

REVIEW: WHEN AUGUST ENDS by Penelope Ward is a contemporary, adult stand alone, erotic romance story line focusing on twenty year old, waitress/college student Heather Chadwick. and thirty-four year old photographer Noah Cavallari.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Noah and Heather) WHEN AUGUST ENDS follows the building relationship between twenty year old, waitress/college student Heather Chadwick. and thirty-four year old photographer Noah Cavallari. Noah Cavallari is taking some time off from his busy photography business, and rented a boathouse up in New Hampshire, on Lake Winipessaukee. Coming face to face with Heather Chadwick, the owner’s twenty year old daughter, stirred something in Noah he had no business pursuing. Heather Chadwick’s attraction to, and seduction of Noah is met with refusal and rejection, but a last minute date for Heather forces Noah to look deep to understand from where his jealousy and need had come. What ensues is the slow building relationship and romance between Heather and Noah, and the potential fall-out as Noah keeps secret his real reason for coming to New Hampshire as his time in the lake house comes to a close.

Heather Chadwick has always wanted to be a nurse but her mother’s disabilities force Heather to become care-taker to a woman who struggles with mental illness. Still grieving the loss of someone close, Heather struggles with what was, and what will never be. Noah Cavallari battles his attraction to Heather knowing his secrets could destroy the precarious foundation upon which their growing relationship is starting to build, a relationship he will pursue as time passes them by.

The relationship between Noah and Heather is one of immediate attraction but Noah struggles with their fourteen year age difference, as well as the secrets he has yet to reveal. Heather knows that her attraction to Noah is currently one-sided, an attraction that comes with heartbreak and jealousy on both sides of the equation. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Heather’s mother Alice, and her estranged father Rick Chadwick, as well as friends Chrissy , and ex-boyfriend Eric; Noah’s ex Olivia, and his father Neil Cavallari.

WHEN AUGUST ENDS is a story of older man / younger woman, secrets, lies, guilt and second chances. The premise is engaging and intriguing ;the romance is a slow burn rejection and attraction; the characters are colorful and energetic. WHEN AUGUST ENDS is a sexy, character driven story of love .

Circle of the Moon by Faith Hunter – Review & Giveaway

Circle of the Moon by Faith Hunter – Review & Giveaway

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / iTunes / Google Play / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
Nell can draw magic from the land around her, and lately she’s been using it to help the Psy-Law Enforcement Division, which solves paranormal crimes. Joining the team at PsyLED has allowed her to learn more about her powers and the world she always shunned–and to find true friends.

Head agent Rick LaFleur shifts into a panther when the moon calls him, but this time, something has gone wrong. Rick calls Nell from a riverbank–he’s naked, with no memory of how he came to be there, and there’s a dead black cat, sacrificed in a witch circle and killed by black magic, lying next to him.

Then more animals turn up dead, and team rushes to investigate. A blood-witch is out to kill. But when it seems as if their leader is involved in the crime, the bonds that hold the team together could shatter at any moment.

Review:

Circle of the Moon by Faith Hunter is the 4th book in her urban fantasy Soulwood series.  I am a big fan of Faith Hunter, especially for her fantastic Jane Yellowrock series, and I have really enjoyed the Soulwood series. In Circle of Moon, Hunter has given us the best one yet in this series.

Warning: If you read the Jane Yellowrock series, and have not read Dark Queen, you should read that first before starting Circle of the Moon, as there are spoilers.

Nell Ingram is our heroine, and in Circle of the Moon, she becomes more confident and independent in using her powers.  Nell is a member  (probie)of PsyLed (Unit Eighteen),  a Homeland Security division that investigates paranormal cases and is based in Knoxville, TN, close to Soulwood.  The PsyLed team is made up of witches, werewolves, empaths and Nell fits right in with her Soulwood powers; they make a great team, as they are all very likeable (Occam, T-Laine, JoJo, Tandy, Rick and  Soul, who has a small part in this book, probably due to her time in Dark Queen).

Nell and team are called into an unusual case involving witch circles and dead animals.  Rick, who has had his own issues for awhile, is being pulled in to the spell.  The team work together to help Rick, and to find out who and why these dangerous blood spells are being used.   While Nell spends a lot of hours at the team quarters, she is also in the middle of getting custody and protecting her younger sister, Mud; upgrading her house with more modern things, including air conditioning, and her slow burn evolving relationship with Occam.

What follows is an intense, exciting, gripping and violent story, where team Nell and team become immersed into stopping the sorcerer who is becoming all too powerful, which threatens everyone and everything .  With Rick being unable to stop from being pulled to the circle, the team forces his cat into to a cage to protect him.  The last half of the book was an edge of your seat thriller, and Nell was totally amazing stepping up in a wild and fantastic ride to the climax.  Nell’s powers grow, but I loved her bond with her teammates, and how close they have become.

Circle of the Moon is a fabulous addition to this series, as it is action-packed, suspenseful, exciting and dangerous death defying situations; with a fantastic group of characters and an amazing heroine.  This is not an easy review to write, as telling too much more would be spoilers.  There are a lot more characters we get to meet; vampires, witches, agents, etc.  Nell is a great heroine, and continues to get better in each book.  I for one cannot wait for the next book in this wonderful series. Faith Hunter has once again given us a fantastic story, with so many emotions throughout.  I still cannot get over the feelings and emotions from Dark Queen.  Hunter is an amazing writer.

Heartbreaker by Inara Scott – a Review

Heartbreaker by Inara Scott – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / iTunes / Google Play / BAM

Description:
Mistakes? She’s made a few…

Dropped out of high school? Check. Ran away with loser boyfriend at age sixteen? Check. Fell for every line from every guy? Sadly, check. But now, Tess Papion has started over. Juggling multiple part-time jobs while finishing her college degree, she’s not letting anything get in her way. Especially not a sexy angel investor with “one-night disaster” written all over him.

Mason Coleman just inherited a 200-pound invalid Mastiff—and an intriguing, unusual, and thoroughly infuriating dog nanny who turns his life upside down the moment she steps through his front door. No matter how she makes him feel Mason doesn’t do commitment—so what happens when he falls for her? And worse, what happens when she wants nothing to do with him?

Review:

Heartbreaker is book one of The Bad Angels Series by Inara Scott.

Tess Papion is a 26 year old college student who works several part time jobs to make ends meet. She has had a rough childhood, and has made her own fair share of mistakes in life. But she is finally beginning to get her life on track. One of the jobs she does is dog walker.  Twice a week she walks dogs from San Fransisco’s swankiest new high rise – The Stella. And that is where she met Mason!

Mason Coleman is 30 years old and is one of the founding members of one of Silicon Valleys hottest venture capital firms. He is handsome, wealthy and currently stuck dogsitting his sisters 200 pound Mastiff, Wick. Wick comes with his own issues, allergies, steroids and behavioral problems. Mason agrees to keep Wick while his sister gets her life together but he has no clue what dogsitting a 200 pound dog entails.  After missing an important business lunch and another event he realizes he doesn’t have time for this and needs some help!

That’s when he bumps into dog walker Tess, in the elevator of The Stella.

When Mason makes Tess an offer she simply can’t refuse – she finds herself in his presence every day!  While they both have their own trust and commitment issues, they can’t deny the natural urge that is pulling them toward each other!

Tess is determined to not mix romance with work. But for how long can she deny what her body, mind and soul wants?  Will Mason be able to lose his Heartbreaker ways and settle down I to new relationship territory with Tess?

I also love the amount of dogs mixed into this book!  The cover was a huge attraction for me.

I am first a visual reader and the cover pulls you in, especially if you are a dog lover.  Next the story was original and something new. The story was fast paced, the seduction and building of a budding relationship was wonderful and exciting! Not to mention steamy! I look forward to reading more in this series.
