I was stolen by the Fae. Trapped in a cell while they played tricks on my mind and body counting down the days until I would waste away to nothing.
But then he came. The golden fae king. He freed me. He promised to send me home. But I should be used to fae tricks by now. Because he was never going to let me go.
He had just taken me for himself. And if I thought I was in trouble before, that was nothing.
Because now I belong to the Seelie King

REVIEW: FAE’S POSSESSION is the third instalment in Melody Raven’s contemporary, adult WICKED FAE paranormal, romance series. This is King of the Seelie Fae Seran, and human female student Lucy’s story line. FAE’S POSSESSION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: In a war between the Dark and the Light Fae, a spell was launched that got out of control leaving all of the Fae woman dead or barren. The Light have been accused of killing most of the Dark Fae women and children, and in the ensuing aftermath, the Dark Fae were slowly dying out. In an attempt to repopulate the Dark Fae species, the Unseelie began a series of human abductions, in an effort to see if the matings will work.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Seran and Lucy) FAE’S POSSESSION follows in the aftermath of the abduction of Lucy and a number of students at a college part. Lucy didn’t want to go to the party but upon her arrival she knew immediately something was wrong. Refusing to eat or drink anything that was served she soon realized not all was as it seemed, a glamor had been forced upon everyone in attendance. Finding herself a prisoner of the Fae, more specifically a powerful Fae named Culven, she would be rescued by the man with whom she would fall in love. Enter King Seran. What ensues is the rescue and seduction of our story line heroine, and the fall-out as Culven comes searching for the one who got away.

King Seran knew immediately that the human female was his mate but controlling his future wife would be more difficult as the human female struggled to trust in the face of what happened and why. Hoping to rescue all of the women trapped within Culven’s spell, Lucy and Seran would have to give everyone a choice, a choice to return or become the mate of a Fae.

The relationship between Seran and Lucy begins acrimoniously as Lucy is the captive of Culven. Refusing to eat or drink anything Culven has to offer, Lucy finds herself at an advantage, fully aware of everything going on. Upon her rescue, Seran would claim Lucy as his own but our heroine continued to battle between head and heart knowing most of the women were never given a choice. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

We are introduced to Seran’s second in command Dagen, as well as the return of King Jaiden and his mate Raina (Fae’s Claimed 2), and a number of Fae and Elves who don’t take lightly to possibility of Lucy ascending the throne.

FAE’S POSSESSION is a story of desperation and obsession, magic, power and control, love and attraction. The premise is entertaining; the romance is seductive; the characters are desperate and determined.
