REVIEW:THE SPY is the fourth instalment in Nana Malone’s contemporary, adult GENTLEMEN ROGUES erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on a British Black Ops group known as The Rogues, a part of a division known as Oversight. This is Ops Command Gabe ‘Spy’ Webb, and Rogues agent Tabatha Smith. THE SPY can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order.

Told from omniscient dual first person perspectives (Gabe and Tabatha) THE SPY follows in the wake of a compromised mission, looking into the possibility of human trafficking. When their assignment fails, Gabe Webb receives another message from the top, demanding Tabatha Smith go in undercover to ferret out the circumstances of the people involved but Gabe refuses to let Tabatha walk alone, suspecting she may be set up to fail. Meanwhile, Tabatha’s sister Kira, a young woman with whom she grew up in foster care, is spiralling out of control, and Tabatha struggles between head and heart knowing that to fail the Rogues mission means she will not be given a second chance but nothing is adding up with the mission or her sister’s disappearance, a disappearance that may or not be connected to their current op. What ensues is the building but forbidden relationship between Gabe and Tabatha, and the potential fall-out as Gabe is willing to sacrifice himself for the woman he loves.

Gabe and Tabatha have been dancing around one another for as long as they can remember but Gabe is currently in charge of the Black Ops group known as The Rogues, and essentially Tabatha’s boss. Everyone of the Rogues is well aware of the palpable sexual attraction between our leading couple but their back and forth, hot and cold attitudes are pushing the boundaries of friendships and love. Someone else has set their eyes on our story line hero, someone who is willing to place Tabatha in the direct line of fire. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of familiar, energetic and powerful secondary and supporting characters many of whom we have me in the previous story lines including a slight cross over with the author’s SPEAK NO EVIL trilogy. Drake Webster’s story is next in The Villain. The requisite evil has many faces.

THE SPY is a story of betrayal, vengeance and obsession, power and control, family and friendships, relationships and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are strong, struggling yet desperate and determined. THE SPY ends on a bit of a cliff hanger (epilogue)-you have been warned.

This is twenty-two year old IT specialist and Rogue member Westin St. James, and twenty year old college student Nissa Montgomery’s story line. THE ROOK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but there is an ongoing premise running throughout.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Nissa and Westin) using present day and memories from the past, THE ROOK follows the second chance relationship between Westin St. James and Nissa Montgomery. Westin St. James’ was sent to live with his godfather Julian Montgomery in the wake of the death of his beloved parents but never expected to come face to face with Julian’s illegitimate daughter Nissa, a young girl Julian laid claim to, abandoning Nissa’s older sister in the process. For several years, Nissa and Westin were best friends then lovers until the day Westin was pulled into a world he knew nothing about. Fearing for his life, and the life of his childhood best friend, Westin ran, leaving a heart broken Nissa behind. Fast forward four years, Westin is now an IT specialist with the Dark Ops group known as The Rogues, a group that was searching for something Julian Montgomery had in his possession. The relationship between Nissa and Westin is a childhood best friends, one-time lovers, enemies to lovers relationship in which Westin is working for Julian Montgomery, a position in which he hopes to uncover the truth. Nissa doesn’t want a bodyguard but someone is threatening Julian Montgomery, using his daughter as potential collateral. Westin had never stopped loving our story line heroine but convincing her he wasn’t the bad guy meant revealing the truth about what happened and why. The $ex scenes are passionate and provocative without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to the head of the Rogues division Gabe Webb; Lachlan King and Saffron Abbott (The Heir/The King), Lock, Tabatha, as well as Nissa’s father Julian Montgomery; housekeeper Mrs. Pembry; crime boss Antonio Igno, as well as Nyla Kincade, Interpol Agent.

THE ROOK is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, betrayal and greed, forgiveness and love. The premise is intriguing, captivating and riveting; the characters are dynamic and determined; the romance is seductive.

This is twenty-one year old, college student Kaya Reynolds, and billionaire/Rogues agent Jasper Saint. THE SAINT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Kaya and Jasper) following several paths, THE SAINT follows Kaya Reynolds search for her mother. Five years earlier, Kaya’s mother got into a car, and has never been seen again. The last person to see Kaya’s mother alive is attending a charity auction, an auction Kaya is determined to attend but Kaya never expected to find herself facing off against two alpha males, both bidding for our heroine’s dinner-date attention. Jasper Saint is a member of the government secret Rogues division, and his latest assignment is to protect and follow our story line heroine but Kaya isn’t about to make things easy, as she continues to hunt for the man who last saw her mother alive, placing herself in the direct line of fire on numerous occasions. What ensues is the building romance and forbidden relationship between Kaya and Jasper, and the potential fall-out as lies of omission, secrets and betrayal push Kaya out of Jasper’s life.

There is a mole within the secret government organization, and the team have yet to discover the who, how or why.

The relationship between Kaya and Jasper is one of immediate attraction but a meeting predicated upon a series of lies. Jasper’s has been assigned to protect and bring in our story line heroine, a woman who refuse to tow the line in the face of secrets and lies. As the relationship quickly turns into something more, Kaya will find herself on the outside looking in when Jasper pushes away the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are erotic, passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters: Saffron and Lachlan (The Heir .5 / The King 1), Saffron’s brother Gabe Webb, and trainee Rook; Kaya’s best friend Gemma, friend Andrew, professor Xander Chase, and business tycoon Connor Phelps aka Lehman. Told from dual first person perspectives (Saffron and Lachlan) THE KING picks up several weeks after the events and cliff hanger of book one THE HEIR. On the night of her twenty-second birthday, Saffron embarked on a one-night stand with a stranger, a stranger who would not remember what happened or why. Weeks later, in the halls of the Rogue mansion, Saffron would come face to face with the man she could never forget but a man who did not remember our story line heroine. There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters: Saffron’s brother Gabe Webb, as well as Rogues and trainees Saint, Rookie, Robert, Maxim, and the return of Saffron’s best friend and fellow Rogue Tabatha. Saint’s story is next.

THE KING is an emotional story of betrayal and vengeance, heart break and hurt, trust and acceptance, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are strong, impassioned, and dynamic.
