REVIEW:THE AGENT is the sixth and final full-length instalment in Kimberly Kincaid’s contemporary, adult INTELLIGENCE UNIT erotic, romantic suspense series -a spin off from the author’s Station Seventeen and Remington Medical series. This is FBI Agent Kai Roman, and Camila Garza’s story line. THE AGENT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments or series is revealed where necessary. Camila is the youngest sister of Detective Matteo Garza (THE GUARDIAN 5).

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Camila and Kai, THE AGENT follows the building romance and relationship between FBI Agent Kai Roman, and Camila Garza. One year earlier, FBI Agent Kai Roman rejected the advances of Camila Garza having found himself on the outs with our heroine’s older brother. Fast forward to present day, our couple find themselves witnesses to a bank robbery, a robbery in which Camila will fast become a target of the robbers involved. In an effort to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love, Kai and Camila go into hiding but their return means facing down the people responsible. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Kai and Camila, and the potential fall-out the thieves target our story line heroine, and Camila’s brother refuses to accept Kai as a potential mate for his younger sister.

The world building continues to focus on the men and women of the Intelligence Unit of the Remington PD . Kai has a checkered past with Camila’s brother Matteo, and as such he is not welcome in Camila’s life but Camila’s life is in danger; she has been targeted for what she saw, and in this Kai becomes guardian and protector of the woman he loves.

FBI Agent Kai Roman has a history with Camila’s brother Matteo, and as such they tend to butt heads when thrown together. Camila is tired of the over protective attitude of her brother but understands that under the circumstances, her life is now in the hands of our story line hero. Both Kai and Camila are strong-willed and determined but Camila struggles with her attraction to a man she believes is too quick to run away. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including many of whom we met in previous instalments: Xander Matthews (The Rookie), Matteo and Delia(The Guardian); Detective Shawn Maxwell, and Detective Addison Hale. Matteo Garza continues to be the proverbial thorn in Kai Roman’s side but Kai refuses to back down from the woman with whom he is falling in love.

THE AGENT is another character driven, and fast paced story of suspense and tension, crime and desperation, acceptance and love. The premise is intriguing and tragic; the characters are determined and dynamic; the romance is seductive and provocative.

This is firefighter Ryan Dempsey, and Detective Addison Hale’s story line. THE ROGUE can  be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Told from three third person perspectives THE ROGUE follows in the months after a one-night stand between our leading couple. Firefighter Ryan Dempsey’s younger sister Chloe believes she is being stalked, and Ryan is taking no chances with his sister’s safety. A call to the RPD finds Ryan facing his one-night stand, Detective Addison Hale, the woman who ghosted our hero the next morning. As Addison and the RPD begin an investigation into the alleged stalking, things begin to take an ominous turn when the RPD struggles to close on the deal. Meanwhile, Ryan and Addison continue to dance around their sexual attraction, an attraction that is quickly turning into something more. What ensues is the building relationship between Addison and Ryan, and the potential fall-out as Chloe’s stalker takes aim at someone else.
 
Detective Addison Hale doesn’t do relationships; never stays over night; refuses to give anyone a second chance but the wall around Addison’s heart is slowly crumbling as Ryan Dempsey continues to break down her barriers, one brick  and donut at a time. Ryan Dempsey has never forgotten about the one who got away but never expected to come face to face with Addison Hale when his sister’s life is threatened by a total stranger. THE ROGUE is a story of obsession and delusion, family and friendships, revelations and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is provocative and hot; the characters are passionate and intense.

Delia Sutton works in the financial department of the investing firm Cromwell A &M but Delia has discovered a discrepancy in the numbers, and the people in charge do not seem to be concerned about the information she found. An attack against our story line heroine finds Delia talking to the police but more specifically her best friend’s brother Matteo Garza, a man who doesn’t believe Delia’s attack is of significant bother until Delia recognizes one of the men currently under investigation, a man Matteo Garza is hoping to pin down for corruption and fraud. Going undercover at Cromwell A & M, Delia and Matteo battle their attraction to one another until Delia disappears, and Matteo struggles to find the woman with whom he is falling in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Matteo and Delia, and the potential fall-out as Delia becomes fodder in a game of cat and mouse.

Matteo Garza doesn’t do relationships having loved and lost years before. The appearance of his sister’s best friend stirs something deep within our story line hero but Matteo comes across as cold and aloof, ignoring Delia’s concerns and the potential threats against her life. It is only when Delia recognizes a man whom Matteo is investigating does Matteo pull his head out of his ‘proverbial a$$’ becoming both boyfriend and guardian to the woman with whom he will fall in love. Delia Sutton is a whiz with numbers, so much so that she is able to see numbers in colors, and any hint of wrong doing jumps out and stands up. Suspecting the people in charge are laundering money, Delia offers to help the police, placing a larger target on her back.

The relationship between Matteo and Delia is a sister’s best friend romance. Delia has been in love with Matteo for as long as she can remember but our hero has been oblivious to Delia’s attraction until time spend together places our couple together for the long haul. Matteo is a one-night stand kind of guy but one night with Delia isn’t enough for Matteo Garza. The $ex scenes are passionate and intimate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Xander and Tara (The Rookie 1), Isabella and Kellan (Skin Deep-Station 17), and several characters from the author’s interconnected series. We are introduced to FBI agent Kai Roman, and Detective Shawn Maxwell, as well as Delia’s bosses Peyton Willoughby, CEO Kent Cromwell, and mobster Nicky Bianchi.

THE GUARDIAN is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, secrets, lies, friendships and family. The character driven premise is fast paced, realistic and imaginative; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are sassy, energetic and edgy. THE GUARDIAN is a gripping story of suspense.

Tara took a step toward him, her arms softening at her sides. “You’re a really nice guy, you know that?”
The urge to correct her was strong, but Xander bit it in half and said, “Just doing my job.”
“The standard answer when someone says ‘you’re a nice guy’ is usually ‘thank you’.”
The words carried none of her usual heat, filled instead with curiosity, and hell, Xander would take her ire a million times over the beautiful, wide-open look on her face right now. “Thank you.”
Another step, and now Tara was right in front of him, close enough to touch. “How come you don’t like being called a nice guy?”
His pulse flared, but that shit about old habits was real.
This time, he stepped toward her, cutting the distance between them to inches. “The standard answer when someone says ‘thank you’ is usually ‘you’re welcome’.”
“Oh,” Tara breathed. Her lips parted to release the sound as a sigh, and suddenly, there was nothing in the universe other than him, her, and the red-hot urge to claim her mouth. “You’re welcome, Xander.”
