ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 30, 2023

I was looking for a job, not a Romeo… because everyone knows how that story ends.

I’ve got three hundred bucks left in my bank account, two jobs, and one final chance to make it as an actress in New York City.

After years of being a chorus girl, I arrive at my first Broadway audition for a leading role thinking I finally have a shot at making it…until I come face to face with the director, Holden James—the rich quarterback from college who broke my heart and stabbed me in the back three years ago.

But I’m not the same girl I was in college. And unlike three years ago, I now know just what—and who—I’m dealing with. This time, I know how to play the game. In this cutthroat business, I need to remember the truest theatrical lesson of all:

For never was a story of more woe… than this of Juliet and her Romeo.

Fans of Glee, Smash!, Ilsa Madden-Mills, and Max Monroe are binging this captivating new series that will leave you breathless!

REVIEW: Katana Collins is a new to me author, and I have to admit, I’ll be going back to see what else she has.

Kate is a girl down on her luck, even with the two jobs she works, she’s down to her last three hundred dollars! But that doesn’t stop her wanting her dream of becoming an actress…. And when she gets a chance to attend an audition to be a leading lady, Kate jumps at the chance….But it’s not going to be easy, the director of the show is non other than Holden James!

These two have a past together. (And apparently there is a prequel to this duet, I’ve not read it, but I think I’m going to go back and read it) and there is a messy breakup that broke Kate’s heart!

Kate is a great character, she’s strong and independent, and won’t let Holden destroy her like he did last time. And I have to admit I wanted her to make him grovel (a lot ?). Holden will frustrate you, have you rolling your eyes and then want him winning back Kate, (there are things from their past that will surprise you, and have you backing Holden to win back Kate.)

It has all the emotions in this book, it has heartbreak, angst, banter and a bucket load of chemistry. Their past is a complicated one, and you do have to wonder if Holden will actually win Kate back!

Cliffhanger ending, so be warned! But I want to know what happens, so I’ve made a note of when the next book is due out!

My shoulders go rigid. I have thirteen missed calls.Thirteen.

Most days, I get one or two calls tops… and they’re usually spam.

Not only do I have thirteen missed calls, but I have thirteen new voice messages. All from the same 516 area code.

I press play and hold the phone up to my ear.

Holden’s voice filters from the speaker. “Kate, it’s me. Look, we need to talk. I don’t want to have this conversation over the phone—”

She wasn’t exactly memorable back then. The echo of his voice roils my stomach, and I pull the phone away from my ear to look at the phone number he called from.

The same number as the other twelve messages—Holden’s number.

Holden called me thirteen times.

My breath catches. I haven’t known his number for years. I haven’t known how to reach him, despite the multiple pissed off speeches I’ve memorized through the years. Speeches I thought he’d never hear because I never had a way to contact him…

Until now.

The power of that makes my heart patter against my ribcage with the speed of a hummingbird’s wings.

It’s a power I shouldn’t be trusted with.

I delete the messages and shove my phone back deep into my pocket as Jill gives me a questioning glance. “Who was that?”

My throat tightens. She’s the one person I can’t lie to. “It was him.”

Her eyes go wide, filling with hope. “Maybe—”

“No,” I cut her off.

“You don’t even know what I was going to say!”

Curt finishes taking an order and scribbles some initials onto a cup, then thrusts it at me to make the iced matcha latte. I bend, retrieving the green powder from its container, and toss a scoop in the bottom of the cup.

“Fine,” I concede, uncapping the almond milk.

“What were you going to say?”

“Maybe he’s calling to offer you the part—”

“No,” I answer again, shoving the ice scoop into the bin.

“But how do you know?”

“I just do.” I dump the ice into the tea shaker, then push the lid on top. Giving it a good shake, I speak over the clatter. “If you’re being offered a role, the director isn’t the one who calls you. The casting director calls your agent. Then your agent calls you with the contracts that you comb through before there’s any formal acceptance.”

I hate the deflated look on Jill’s face. In some ways, she’s taking this even harder than I am.

Or I’m just that good at shutting off my emotions.

Which is the exact reason I didn’t get the part. Because Holden knows me too well. He knows I have trouble connecting, exposing my vulnerable side. Especially with him.

“The only reason Holden would call me himself is if I didn’t get the part, and he thinks this somehow makes him the hero to tell me in person.” I stare into the frothy light green beverage and snap the lid on top, avoiding Jill’s pitying stare.

A deep voice speaks up, resonating over the ambient noise of the coffee shop. “Maybe if you returned my calls, you’d know what the hell I wanted.”

My breath stalls halfway out of my lungs, and I snap my gaze up.

Holden.

Katana Collins is a USA Today bestselling author of over twenty novels, novellas, and comic books in a variety of genres. She is most known for her sensual contemporary romances and her wildly popular comic book— Batman White Knight Presents: Harley Quinn with DC Comics.

When she was younger and stole her mother’s Harlequins to read beneath the covers with a flashlight, she wanted to read about the tough as nails heroine. The perfectly imperfect girl with quirks and attitude and sass. And the anti-heroes who were anything but “Prince Charming.” Forget the knight on a white horse … she wanted the bad boy on a motorcycle.

An avid animal lover, she lives in Portland, Maine with her kind of mean cat, derpy lab-pitt mix, mellow chihuahua, and very not mellow cairn terrier puppy. Oh, yeah… there’s a husband somewhere in that mix, too.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 3, 2018

With lessons this hot, limits aren’t the only thing that’s hard…

Marlena

Everyone has their limits. Mine? It’s one that should have never been crossed. Now thanks to my ex-boyfriend, all of Hollywood thinks I trade sex for roles. You can imagine how my auditions go these days. This town has enough real scandals without him adding fake ones to the mix. But I have a plan. And it was going so well… until Jude Fisher came along.

Jude

When my ex-wife sold the footage of herself cheating on me with another man, I was done. With scandal, with her, with all the fakeness this industry thrives on. Finding her as the only actress up for co-lead in my new BDSM movie was the last thing I needed. Then Marlena Taylor auditioned, and I found everything I need. A gifted actress, a natural submissive… and a woman I can’t resist.

All she’s missing is knowledge about the lifestyle–my lifestyle.

I’m more than happy to tutor her–to show her the ropes, if you will. I’ll teach her everything about the games. The toys. The dynamic.

I’ll teach her everything but the sex. That’s my hard limit.
But we’re quickly finding out that there’s no limit to what’s between us.

REVIEW: CALLBACK is the first instalment in Katana Collins’ contemporary, adult SILHOUETTE STUDIOS erotic, BDSM romance series. This is Hollywood star Jude Fisher, and actress Marlena ‘Marly’ Taylor’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jude and Marly) CALLBACK follows the building relationship between movie picture star Jude Fisher, and actress Marly Taylor. Marly’s reputation in Hollywood tanked when her ex-boyfriend launched a smear campaign aiming to destroy our heroine’s career. An audition to star alongside one of Hollywood’s leading men in a new movie focusing on BDSM meant a resurgence in self-esteem but an education into a different side of the Hollywood life. Enter Jude Fisher, Dominant, Hollywood star and the man with whom Marly would fall in love. What ensues is the ‘education’ of Marly Taylor, and the potential fall-out as Marly’s issues of trust, begin to affect her relationship with Jude Fisher.

Marly Fisher’s last relationship destroyed our heroine’s ability to trust, and with it, her ability to accept praise and commendations. With Jude Fisher, our heroine will begin to blossom in her role as a submissive, and leading Hollywood star, a role she questions when fear begins to bloom anew. Jude Fisher is no stranger to scandal: his ex-wife’s betrayal devastated his faith in love and romance but meeting Marly Taylor meant a second chance at a happily ever after, a second chance that will be destroyed by Marly’s inability to trust and let go of the past.

The relationship between Marly and Jude begins as a professional arrangement. Marly must be educated in the ways of a submissive, and a temporary membership at a high-end BDSM club means Marly will be exposed to a lifestyle that has her questioning her desires, actions and emotional fall-out. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, and intense; the BDSM scenes include some bondage, discipline and spanking.

We are introduced to fellow Dominant and Hollywood director Ash Livingston, Dominant and club member Chloe, Jude’s ex-wife and actress Layla Hutson, CEO of Silhouette Studios Richard Blair, and Marly’s best friend, roommate and actor Omar Blake. Ash Livingston’s story line is next Role Play.

CALLBACK is a sexy, spirited and decadent story with familiar scenarios ala 50 Shades of Grey. The premise is imaginative; the characters are realistic and energetic; the romance is emotional and captivating. CALLBACK examines the BDSM lifestyle; the emotional relationship between Dom and sub; and the ramifications of falling in love against the odds.

I love coffee.

As an author and a story-teller, it is the lifeblood to which my ideas take flight. And I believe in giving credit where credit is due. Occasionally someone (ie – my husband) will try to secretly switch out my beloved regular coffee for decaf. I always know the difference. ALWAYS (I’m looking at you, SEAN).

I am incapable of achieving the perfect ponytail. I’m dyslexic. I can never wear white without spilling on myself. And I’ve never read Pride and Prejudice (gasp!).

When I was younger and stole my mother’s Harlequins to read beneath the covers with a flashlight, I wanted to read about the tough as nails heroine. The perfectly imperfect girl with quirks and attitude and sass. And the anti-heroes who were anything but “Prince Charming.” Forget the knight on a white horse… give me the bad boy on a motorcycle.

So, now, I write those romance novels I craved to see on the shelves all those years ago—the sassy heroines. The badass heroes.

Since penning my first novel back in 2012, I’m now an international author with 15 published books, in a wide range of contemporary romance genres–(Paranormal, New Adult, Small town, Erotic Suspense… you name it!).

After living for a decade in Brooklyn, NY, I took the plunge and moved to beautiful (although kinda chilly) Portland, Maine. I now live full time in ‘Vacationland’ with a kind of mean cat, a doofy lab-pittie mix, a mellow chihuahua, and a very NOT mellow cairn terrier puppy. Oh, yeah… there’s a husband who draws comics somewhere in that mix, too. ? I can usually be found in a coffee shop with my nose in my laptop wearing fabulous (albeit sometimes impractical) shoes.

Blind Spot by Katana Collins – a Review

Blind Spot by Katana Collins – a Review

Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / BAM / The Book Depository

Description:
I’m used to going for the easy things in life.
The easy A in school.
The easy lay in bed. The easy life my trust fund affords me.
Until I met Shelby.
Never in my life have I found retro T-shirts and lip balm so damn sexy.
She’s exactly what I never knew I wanted.
And she’s anything but easy.
But suddenly, easy is overrated.

Only one damn problem… For Shelby, hating me is easy.

For the first time in my life, I have to work for something. And though
she may not be easy…she’ll be worth it.

Review:

The Blind Spot by Katana Collins is a New Adult romance.  Shelby Stevens is a senior in college and for the first time in a long time things are changing for her. She is moving out of the dorms and being a resident advisor and into her own apartment.  At twenty one years old her entire life fit into only sixteen boxes. But she had saved for years working several jobs and was moving into a modern, upscale, safe apartment complex complete with a doorman.  With her friends (Reagan and Harrison) there to help, she embarks on moving day.  When she reaches her new apartment building she is greeted by the drop dead gorgeous doorman. After a brief exchange she realizes she may like this new place more than she anticipated.

Once moved in, her and her friends decide to order a pizza and study for French. But her upstairs, penthouse partying neighbor had other ideas.  After tolerating all she can, she decides to call the cops and head upstairs to confront her noisy neighbor. On the elevator ride upstairs she finds out her new neighbor’s name is Tate. And when she tells a white lie to get herself and friends into the party she can’t wait to find this “Tate” and give him a piece of her mind. But things don’t work out that way.

Upon meeting Tate she comes to find out that he isn’t actually the apartment building doorman but some spoiled rich kid out to have a good time. She can’t deny the fact that he is handsome beyond anything and when she finds out he is fluent in French – the one subject she is having some struggles in. She relents and accepts his offer to help her with her studies. But will she be able to control herself around him and deny what her heart wants? Will Tate be able to put his partying ways behind him and find happiness with Shelby?

Shelby is down to earth, with a very hard past to live down. She has been hurt and traumatized and simply afraid to open herself up to anyone. But she is strong. She will hold her own when all else fails.  She was wonderful to read and even better to watch evolve.

Tate Michaelson is a typical rich college student. Being the Governor’s son, he has had life handed to him. At first I thought I was going to completely dislike Tate but he was real and emotional and a true gentleman underneath the outward layers. I came to root for him and hope that Shelby would open up just enough to let him in.  As their story evolves you find that sometimes the rich kids have feelings too, and sometimes those running from love are looking for exactly that!

I am hoping this story continues – I would love for Harrison to have his own story! The possibilities of where this story can go are endless, and I look forward to following along.
