Review:

Fearless Mating by Milly Taiden is the 4th book in her A.L.F.A. series. . Though each book revolves around an A.L.F.A. agent and finding his mate, these do read very well as standalones.

Josh Trumbel, our hero, is the director of A.L.F.A, as well as a wolf shifter.   When he meets a new government official, he is shocked to see that she is his mate.   Sergeant Major Candace Obermeier, our heroine, is a tough woman, who works in a new position reporting to the new president.  She is determined to save money for the budget, and when she meets the director, she tells him she is immediately shutting down his office.  Josh doesn’t take her too seriously, as he is still in shock and very happy to be looking at his mate.  Before he can explain to her the value of his group, she ups and leaves telling him to make sure he tells his employees.   Candace is in a rush to get out of Josh’s office, as she feels a strong attraction to him, making her feel uncomfortable, as she is not interested in men, except to rule them.

Later that evening, at a dinner honoring A.L.F.A., Candace shows up and reminds Josh to tell his team not to come to work the next day.  But just then, all hell breaks loose as a Russian terrorist group takes over part of the building, forcing Josh and Candace to work together.  Though Candace tries to take control, she will see Josh and his men in a different light, as she discovers they are shifters, which also gives them other benefits to fight off enemies.

What follows is an ultra exciting, action packed  story, with Candace, Josh, his team trying to stop the terrorists and discover who and why they are under attack. During their rescue attempts, Josh continues to flirt and call Candace his mate.  At first she ignores him, but slowly she finds herself succumbing to his advances, especially when he keeps finding ways to kiss her.   When things are under some kind of control, both Candace and josh have a bad feeling that something is still not right.  This will escalate as they discover the new president is the target.  When they will race to protect the President and First lady, they begin to get closer, as their lives are in constant danger. One of the best things about this series is Taiden’s trademark humor throughout, as well as being very sexy. You can’t help but laugh at some of the situations, and find yourself enjoying the banter, even in difficult spots.  Just when things seem over, both Candace and Josh will find themselves in a death defying situation that looks hopeless.

I did like Candace and Josh, and even enjoyed the President and his wife.  I was surprised how I came to like Candace, as she was a bit too tough and unbending early on.  Josh was simply great, and you knew in time he would change her mind about him, as well as the A.L.F.A team.

Fearless Mating was an exciting, suspenseful story, with lots of action.  If you enjoy paranormal romances, with humor and suspense, as well as a hot sexy read, then you should be reading this series.  Milly Taiden once again gives us another fun filled exciting story.

Review:

Dangerous Mating by Milly Taiden is the 3rd book in her A.L.F.A. series. Though each book revolves around an A.L.F.A. agent and finding his mate, these do read very well as standalones.

Kari Tomlin, our heroine, is an FBI agent, specializing in breaking codes (cryptographer) and when she is asked to join an undercover assignment for A.L.F.A, she is thrilled.  Supposedly this is an easy assignment, pretending to be a tourist and girlfriend of an agent, when they go to a small country in Europe to try and find a missing agent. Kari is bored, and this is a chance to travel have some fun.  Of course, this is going to be everything but fun.

Bryon Day, a wolf shifter agent and our hero, is presently a prisoner being tortured, because the Prince of the country thinks he is a shifter, something Bryon is trying to hide. After another torturous session, he opens his eyes to see and smell something beautiful….his mate.  Bryon sees Kari and tries to understand what she is doing in the dungeon of the castle.  Seems while doing tourist activity, Kari stumbles on the castle trying to find a bathroom (yeah it is funny), and instead lands in the mansion with  the evil Prince and Bryon.  What follows is an exciting adventure, where Kari will help Bryon escape through the maze of the hidden tunnels in the castle.  Every step of the way the find themselves in dangerous and death defying situations, as they help each other, the mate bonding between them gets stronger and hotter.   In all Milly Taiden stories, you come to expect things to get wild and crazy, as well as being very steamy; this is no different in Dangerous Mating.  I did think some of things Kari got into were a bit farfetched, but in those tense moments, the silly fun was a release.

Dangerous Mating was an exciting, fun, action packed story line, with Taiden’s trade mark humor throughout.  Kari and Bryon did make a great couple.  If you enjoy paranormal romances, with humor and suspense, as well as a hot sexy read, then you should be reading this series.

Description:
A cougar shifter meets his mate and match in this latest sexy paranormal adventure in the A.L.F.A. series as another Alpha League Federal Agent finds love and passion in the midst of danger by the New York Times bestselling author of Elemental Mating.

Review:

Mating Needs by Milly Taiden is the second book in her A.L.F.A series.  When I read the first book in this series (Elemental Mating), I had mixed feelings and was not sure I would continue reading this, but since I did like the shifter theme, I decided I would give the next book a chance.  I am glad I did. I really enjoyed Mating Needs.   This book also had a lot of humor, but it was very well done, and seriously fun, exciting and endearing throughout the book.

Ameralla Capone, our heroine, is a Mafia princess, who is totally different than most princesses.  When we meet Amie, she is doing personal business in her bank, when a robbery occurs.  Amie recognizes two of her cousins behind the robbery attempt, with one getting killed.  Amie is beside herself to watch her good cousin die, and despite the danger, tells the detective she will testify what she saw against her bad cousin.

Frank Dubois, our hero, is a member of the A.L.F. A.  ( Alpha League Federal Agent), who is assigned to be the bodyguard for Amie.  But when they meet, there is a big surprise….Frank and Amie were lovers back in their college days, when she up and left him.  Frank has never forgotten Amie, who is the love of his life and as it turns out..his Mate.  Frank is a cougar shifter, which helps him be one of the best agents A.L.F.A. needs.

Amie is in trouble, as her Mafia uncle will do anything to find her.  Unbeknownst to most people, Amie has a young son, whom she worries about because he has some strange quirks, like claws coming out on his hands.  Amie thinks the boy is seriously ill, and tries to teach him to not show anyone.

What follows is Amie and Frank spending all their spare time together, as this second chance romance builds very quickly.  The lust for each other is sizzling hot, something neither can resist.  This is definitely a sexy romance, with lots of sexual scenes.  But the best part of this story, is the fun when Frank takes Amie to live in his mom’s house in home town (all shifters) to protect her.  I loved this part, as it was a blast, especially since Amie did not know about shifters. The townspeople were great, as Amie shows the women how to dress, or change their business to look nicer and how to treat their men.  I got such a kick out of the comments made early on that almost gave away the secret….send the cat; she has many bunnies; he’s a wolf, etc.  When Amie finds the truth, she did accept it really well, and laughed at those hints.

Mating Needs turned out to be an exciting suspense story line, but the fun humor elevated this to a different level that made this book such a enjoyable read.  You can read this very well as a standalone.  Milly Taiden won me over in this book.

Elemental Mating by Milly Taiden – a Review

Elemental Mating by Milly Taiden – a Review

Elemental MatingAmazon / B&N / Kobo / BAM

Description:
Their existence was a secret the government stumbled upon. In exchange for continued autonomy, the paranormals entered an alliance with the government. Now they are A.L.F.A.: Alpha League Federal Agency, sworn to protect and serve humanity.

Brilliant scientist Melinda Caster has discovered a new strain of the Zika virus that stimulates synaptic growth in embryos, causing neuron development beyond normal human levels. Way beyond, like ESP-levels of cognitive abilities. When the lab is broken into, Melinda realizes that someone has been keeping tabs on her research and wants it for themselves. A happy accident destroys critical data before it can fall into the wrong hands, but unfortunately that makes Melinda and her perfect memory a target.

A.L.F.A sends in jaguar-shifter Agent Parish Hamel to discover who is after the virus and why. The beautiful scientist acts like catnip to his senses and throws his mating instincts into overdrive. And then she disappears along with the only sample of the virus…. Now Parish must canvas the darkest areas of the supernatural underground to rescue Melinda, and what he discovers is beyond a paranormal’s worst nightmare.

Review:

Elemental Mating by Milly Taiden is the first book in her new A.L.F.A. series.  I had mixed feelings about this book, which I will go into detail later in this review.

Melinda Caster, our heroine, is a scientist who is working in Uganda.  She has discovered a virus and a possible antidote.  Parish Hamel, our hero, arrives on the scene a short time after Melinda discovers how the effect of this serum acts on mice. It turns out Hamel is a government agent for A.L.F.A (Alpha League Federal Agency), and he is a Jaguar shifter.  Hamel has been assigned to protect Melinda, though she does not know this, and is told he is another scientist interested in her findings.

It seems this virus does not kill, but instead increases their ability beyond that of normal humans.  Someone has been tracking Melinda, and looking for the virus; as both her house and workplace were destroyed.  A few times, Melinda finds herself saved by a lone Jaguar, which shocks her, but she begins to look at the Jaguar as her savior.  Of course, it will be much later when she finds out that Hamel is the Jaguar.  Hamel recognizes early on that Melinda is his mate.

This was a very promising story, with some excitement, demons, and a couple that had a lot of sexual chemistry together.  However, despite this, my mixed feelings brought this down at least a star.  I know this was also meant to add humor into the story, but I felt some of it was a bit amateurish.  When they both ended up in the Demon realm, it was totally off the wall for me,  being more on the silly side.

That being said, Elemental Mating had an interesting and exciting theme, and a sexy couple.  I will try out the next book to see if my mixed feelings change.  If you enjoy a shifter story line, with this type of humor, then you should give Elemental Mating a try.
