REVIEW: MONSTER is the second instalment in Morgan Jane Mitchell’s contemporary, adult ROAD MONSTERS MC dark, erotic, MC romance series-a cross over/spin off from the multi-authored RBMC world, set in the multi-authored MAYHEM MAKERS world. This is the continuing story of thirty-nine year old, former RBMC Nashville Enforcer Leviathan ‘Levi’ aka ‘Monster, and former gymnast turned exotic dancer turned president of the Asphalt Gods MC Maren ‘Treasure’ Davidson. MONSTER should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book one FINDING TREASURE.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Monster and Treasure) MONSTER follows in the aftermath of the betrayal of the RBMC by our story line couple. Monster and Treasure are on the run but a call for help found our couple imprisoned by the MC of which Monster was once a member. Stripped of his name, his colors, his patch and his RBMC tattoo, Monster would be given an ultimatum, a series of tasks or the end of his life. With the woman he loves missing, and in the hands of another MC, Monster struggles with his new direction in life, a life he no longer shares with Maran ‘Treasure’ Davidson. A plea for help in finding Treasure brings Monster up close and personal with our story line heroine where our couple must come to terms to what was and what may never be. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Monster and Treasure, and the potential fall-out as Monster makes a deal with the man he no longer trusts.

The relationship between Monster and Treasure is a second chance relationship but a relationship predicated on mistrust, secrets and lies. Monster is no longer the man or the MC member he once was, and in an effort to prove he is worthy, he must perform a series of tasks, tasks that will eventually allow him to see the woman he loves. Treasure found herself a virtual captive of the man to whom she was once involved but with the return of Monster, Treasure is hoping for a second chance but all does not go according to plan when misunderstanding send Monster on the run, away from the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including a new revelation about the connection between the RBMC, The Road Monsters MC, and the four aces, four Presidents who now control the nomads in the four corners of the USA.

MONSTER is a story of power and control, vengeance, torture and betrayal, violence and repercussions, forgiveness and love. The premise is dark, gritty, graphic and brutal. There are several name changes and MC changes for our story line couple; the romance is impassioned; the characters are broken, determined, and dynamic.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Monster and Miren) MONSTER follows the building, age-gap relationship between thirty-eight year old, RBMC: Belfast President Cathal ‘Monster’ O’Connor, and twenty-two year old, Miren Doyle. Ten years earlier, Monster lost his beloved mother to an assassin’s bullet, and in the ensuing time Monster has never stopped looking for the person responsible. Intel reports the whereabouts of his target but the only prize is our story line heroine. Miren Doyle never knew her father until the day she was abducted and held prisoner by the Irish mob. With her mother missing, and her father the target of the RBMC, Miren is once again kept imprisoned where she will fall in love with Cathal O’Connor. What ensues is the building relationship between Monster and Miren, and the potential fall-out as Miren quickly discovers her entire life has been predicated upon a lie.

Miren Doyle is a psychology major but has always been tethered to her mother’s home. Unaware to the extent of her life about to spiral out of control, Miren must come to terms with a past and a family she knew nothing about. Cathal O’Connor swore to avenge his mother’s death, and has never stopped hunting the man he believes to be responsible but new evidence reveals the possibility of another shooter, a shooter he suspects will destroy Miren’s heart.

The relationship between Miren and Monster is an age-gap, forced proximity in which Miren becomes a captive of the RBMC: Belfast Ireland. Believing her life may be in danger from the RBMC, Miren quickly realizes the danger comes from outside, and not from people she will come to call family. We are introduced to several members of the RBMC: Belfast: VP Rebel, tech expert Tye, Road Captain Racer, twin Rev and Brute aka Hadrian and Hades, Sully, Father Donahue and waitress Callia, as well as Miren’s mother Amanda Walsh. The requisite evil has many faces.

MONSTER is a twisted story of family and betrayal, secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, acceptance and love. The premise is dark, gritty and dramatic; the romance is provocative; the characters are struggling, determined, desperate and dynamic.
