RULE #1: Do not catch feelings for the man who doesn’t believe in love.

Four months. That’s how long I have to pretend to be Steele Cunningham’s doting girlfriend.
I agreed to this insanity only to save my restaurant. He’s doing it because he needs someone outside his “social circle” to stick it to his meddling parents and clingy ex.
Ruthless and emotionless in both his personal life and his career, Steele’s ego rivals his net worth.
Operating on joy and positivity—and a healthy bit of feistiness—I challenge him at every step.
He’s a tin man—heartless and cold. Falling for him would be a colossal mistake, because there’s no chance he’ll ever love me.
He can’t.
After all, he’s the man with an armored heart.

REVIEW: AN ARMORED HEART by RC Boldt is a contemporary, adult, stand alone, erotic, romance story line focusing on businessman Steele Cunningham, and chef / restaurateur Daniella ‘Ella’ Marchetti.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Ella and Steele) AN ARMORED HEART follows in the wake of Steele Cunningham buying the property in which Ella Marchetti runs her business. In the hopes of convincing Steele to not tear down the property, Ella comes baring gifts of food, a visit that will place both in a compromising position. Unable to think clearly, Steele introduces Ella as his new girlfriend, a ruse that is about to be played out for in social media, for the world to see. Steele is tired of his mother trying to push he and his former girlfriend back together, so a four month arrangement with Ella, will save Ella business, and Steele’s integrity but all does not go according to plan when their arrangement turns into something more, only to be a vindictive family, and a big misunderstanding. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Steele and Ella, and the potential fall-out as their secrets and lies are about to spiral out of control.

Steele Cunningham comes from money; his family are the ultimate snobs, live the life of high society rich and famous but Steele doesn’t always recognize the reality of his situation. Cold and aloof, Steele doesn’t do love, or public displays of affection until Daniella ‘Ella’ Marchetti falls into his life. Having to appear with Ella at several social functions, Steele struggles with his growing attraction to the woman who is about to break his heart. Ella Marchetti loves her friends, her business, and loves to hug but a ‘fake’ relationship with Steele finds Ella breaking down all of Steele’s walls, walls he has built since a very young age.

The relationship between Ella and Steele begins by accident that quickly morphs into a business arrangement in which Ella will pretend to be Steele’s girlfriend for approximately four months but someone is trying to sabotage both Ella and Steele’s businesses, a sabotage that is about to back fire when the truth is revealed. Trying to keep their fake relationship platonic, Ella quickly falls for the man that battles between head and heart for the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are provocative, intimate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and interesting secondary and supporting characters including Ella’s co-workers and friends (Tessa, Serena, Kirin), as well as Steele’s rich and snobby family, his business partners Dylan and Lucas, and Steele’s ex girlfriend Iris Colton. I am hoping the author has plans for Lucas and Dylan but the epilogue fast forwards several years revealing the personal lives of many of the secondary characters.

AN ARMORED HEART is a story of power and control, secrets and lies, differences and similarities, acceptance and love. The wonderful premise is detailed, heart breaking and emotional; the romance is seductive but struggles in the face of a possible end date; the characters are determined, powerful, dynamic and captivating.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 21, 2023

I’ve been an outcast my whole life. If my scars don’t scare people away, my attitude certainly will.

I don’t know what I am or how I got the power to stop time. What I do know is, there are far too many questions I need answers to.

When I cross paths with a local gang member, his presence unravels a part of my past I never knew existed.

At every turn, danger leaps closer, and I realize that stopping the killer will mean losing everything—including the first man I’ve ever loved.

But I should’ve known better. We were never meant to be anything more than a brief stop in time.

REVIEW: A STOP IN TIME by RC Boldt is a contemporary, adult, paranormal, romantic suspense story set in the same world as Beyond My Darkness. This is Scorpion MC member Daniel Madrano, and mechanic Mackenzie Ford’s story line. A STOP IN TIME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from several first person perspectives including Daniel and Mackenzie A STOP IN TIME follows Daniel Madrano as he searches for the person who killed his sister. With the help of necromancer Georgia Danvers (Beyond My Darkness #1) Daniel believes the killer is within his reach but with only two first names to aid in his search, Daniel finds himself in Mandarin Springs, Florida where he will come face to face with his future in the guise of mechanic Mackenzie Ford. Mackenzie Ford is a young woman, hopelessly scarred inside and out, and as such is often ridiculed by the people in the town where she currently lives but Mac has a secret-she has the ability to stop time- and this secret is about to reveal a path of no return. As Daniel is pulled into the world that is Mackenzie Ford, a serial killer is taking aim at Mandarin Springs, and our couple may be too deeply connected to see the truth about what is happening and why. What ensues is the building relationship between Mackenzie and Daniel, and the potential fall-out when the truth reveals betrayal and madness at every turn.

Daniel Madrano is desperate to avenge the death of the sister he barely knows. Having endured years of abuse at the hands of their father, Daniel’s sister escaped, promising to return, but Daniel quickly discovered he would always be on his own. Mackenzie Ford lost everything the day she was nearly burned alive in a fire but amnesia, and the ongoing blackouts find Mackenzie struggling to make sense of what happened and why until a slow awakening revealed a much more sinister darkness controlling her life.

The relationship between Daniel and Mackenzie begins as Daniel searches for a killer, a killer he only knows as Mack. Falling for Mackenzie Ford means quite possibly falling for a killer but a woman who is unable to explain the events of her life including her ability to stop time with a snap. As Daniel and Mackenzie’s relationship builds, the truth will destroy any hopes of a future for our story line couple. The $ex scenes are erotic and passionate.

The secondary and supporting characters include Mackenzie’s doctor and his assistant,a doctor who claims to be aiding Mackenzie in her search for the truth; Jonah, the invisible man; Mackenzie’s assistant Annalee Whitaker; café owner Mammy; Scorpion MC member Steve; as well as the return of Scorpion MC President Bronson Cortez, and morgue assistant/necromancer Georgie Danvers. The requisite evil has many faces.

A STOP IN TIME is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control; madness and murder; acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is intriguing, dramatic and intense; the romance is seductive; the characters are broken, lost, desperate and determined.

“Do you know my name?”
Every muscle in my body goes rigid. “Excuse me?”
Her chest heaves, and the movement clearly causes her pain, but her lips flatten stubbornly. “What is my name?” Those blue eyes are troubled now, fear edging in, while distress practically oozes from her voice.
“You don’t…know your name?” I ask slowly, carefully gauging her reaction.
“No.” She swallows audibly, her eyes filling with tears. “I don’t remember anything.”
Fuck.
I scoot my rolling stool closer and take a seat beside her. Peering at her, I try to decipher whether she’s being completely honest.
I’ve learned to be suspicious over the years, especially with living in part of the denser, remote jungle areas bordering the coast.
“Well, what I can tell you is”—I lace my fingers casually—“you’re not pregnant, you have an IUD for birth control, and the panel I ran on you says you’re negative for any sexually transmitted diseases.
“You’re also blood type O, and your X-rays showed some broken bones—both previously incurred and current.
“Two of your ribs on your right side showed current hairline fractures, likely sustained during your…accident.”
I pause for even a flicker of acknowledgment but get nothing. Nothing, that is, except witness her expression bloom with stark terror.
“I removed two bullets from your shoulder and two more from your side near your hip. You also suffered a considerable stab wound.
“The X-rays indicated you most recently broke your index finger on your left hand. It’s since healed.”
She stares down at her hand, now trembling slightly, as if it’s grown a head of its own. I don’t bother informing her of the other bones in her body that indicated a previous break or fracture.
Broken left wrist.
Fracture near the base of her right elbow.
Fractures of most of the small bones in her right foot.
Broken nose.
Fractured jaw.
Straightening her fingers, she wiggles them before her eyes cut to mine. A thread of panic lines her tone. “I should remember something like that, shouldn’t I?”
I scan her features again for evidence of deceit but come up empty.
I’m dealing with a woman who has a severe case of amnesia.
Sonofabitch.

Death.
Heartache.
Vengeance.
This isn’t a tale for the tender-hearted, the judgmental, or those who refuse to think outside the box and look at the broader picture. Those who think that everything is black and white. Simple. Cut and dried.
It’s not. There’s always shades of gray.
It’s easier to say “I’d never” when you’re sitting safely at home with the people you love most right by your side. When grief hasn’t woven itself so deeply in the fabric of your DNA that it can never be unraveled. There can be no separation. And even if you tried, it would only result in you becoming a frayed and tangled mess.
It’s easy to say you’d never walk the treacherous moral tightrope. But you aren’t the one who plummeted to the depths of hell, littered with the agony of loss and the anger of injustice, and had to claw your way out.
This story isn’t scrawled on pristine white pages in bold black ink. Marred, torn, and blood-spattered, its chapters hold deep gouges inflicted by betrayal.
This story is about a woman who had everything taken from her.
And how she took it all back.
