REVIEW: RUTHLESS is the second installment in Gina L. Maxwell’s contemporary, adult PLAYBOYS IN LOVE erotic, romance series focusing a tight knit group of male friends who have formed ‘Playboys 4 Hire’-an after hours all-male strip group for hire. This is attorneys Roman ‘Ruthless’ Reeves, and Addison ‘Addie’ Paige’s story line. RUTHLESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Roman and Addison) RUTHLESS focuses on the building relationship between Roman Reeves, and Addison Paige. By day, Roman Reeves is a high powered attorney working for his own upstart law firm; by night our hero is Ruthless, an exotic dancer for hire with one rule, and one rule only-he doesn’t date friends or friends of friends. When his partner at the law firm hires a new attorney, Roman comes face to face with his last one-night stand. Enter Addison Paige, his best friend’s wife’s friend, and the woman who makes him break all of his rules. What ensues is the developing romance between Roman and Addison; and the fall out when mistaken beliefs and a lack of communication interfere in the growing relationship.
Roman’s sexual proclivities extend towards the kink, and there is never a repeat or second time. Addison is a woman whose attraction to Roman finds herself accepting all that is Roman Reeves, including a relationship where another man is part of the scene. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense. There is plenty of back and forth banter between all of the story line characters.
We are re-introduced to Chance and Jane (Shameless #1), as well as Austin Massey, the third member of the Playboys 4 Hire. Austin will enter the relationship between Roman and Addison, a relationship that will be destroyed when jealousy and anger override one man’s sexual desires.
The world building looks at the professional lives of Roman and Addison as they struggle to keep secret their after-hours affair, and as they battle the growing love between one another. Work place romances are difficult but mistaken beliefs push Addison out of Roman’s life and into a world of heartbreak and hurt.
RUTHLESS is a sexy, provocative and fateful story line of two people caught between desire and love, want and need. The premise is imaginative; the characters are spicy and impulsive; the romance is energetic and intense.
