REVIEW: COWBOY WOLF CHRISTMAS is a holiday novella found in Kait Ballenger’s contemporary, adult, SEVEN RANGE SHIFTERS paranormal romance series. This is former Wild Eights rogue wolf shifter Silas Buck, and packmate /mechanic Cheyenne’s story line. COWBOY WOLF CHRISTMAS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Silas was first introduced in book three Fierce Cowboy Wolf.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Silas and Cheyenne) COWBOY WOLF CHRISTMAS follows Silas, just days before the Grey Wolves Christmas celebrations, as he is tasked with escorting Cheyenne to Missoula, the abandoned site of the former Grey Wolf subpack .Cheyenne is the Grey Wolf Pack mechanic, and is in need of some spare parts from Missoula’s long forgotten machinery but Missoula holds too many bad memories for our story line hero, memories of which no one is aware. Believing he was ordered to protect Cheyenne, Silas took the demands to heart, protecting Cheyenne like she was his own but the vampires that had decimated the Missoula pack were still roaming in the area, and Silas was about to come face to face with the past. What ensues is the building relationship between Silas and Cheyenne, and the potential fall-out when Cheyenne reveals her plans for the future, a future that no longer included the Grey Wolf Pack.

Silas Buck’s history with the Wild Eights Pack has made him an enemy of the Grey Wolves, a Pack he has sworn to protect and defend. Silas has always felt like an outsider but never more so than when he hears the whispers and accusations by the other members he now calls his own. Cheyenne is different than most wolf shifter, and it is these differences that have Silas reconsidering his place in the pack. Cheyenne suspects Silas is her mate but Silas has built a proverbial wall around his heart, in the hopes of keeping everyone else away.

The relationship between Silas and Cheyenne began months earlier.Silas saved Cheyenne’s life, and Cheyenne freed Silas from a death sentence imposed by the Pack he had sworn to protect.Silas had kept his distance never forgetting about the woman that called to his heart but Silas believed he did not deserve his own happily ever after, especially one with a woman naive to the world. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters are limited: Packmaster Maverick Grey, Maverick’s second in command and Silas’ former Wild Eights packmate Wes Calhoun, as well as Grey Wolf Cayden.

COWBOY WOLF CHRISTMAS is a fast paced story of want and need, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are broke, different yet strong.

Cowboy Wolf Outlaw (Seven Range Shifters 6) by Kait Ballenger-a review

ABOUT THE BOOK: RElease Date June 28, 2022.

Grey Wolf assassin Malcolm Grey is set on revenge, and no one can stand in his way. With the pack facing their most challenging battle yet, his mission is simple: locate the perpetrators and destroy them. Malcolm will do anything to keep his pack safe, especially when sassy, southern belle Trixie Beauregard makes a proposal he can’t resist.

Trixie knows a few things about the dangerous cowboy sitting at her bar. One, he’s a wolf shifter. Two, his wolf pack is in jeopardy. And three, despite all his growling, this dark-eyed cowboy wolf wants her. But Trixie has problems of her own, and she knows better than to run with the wolf. The smart thing to do would be to stay away. Too bad she’s always had a taste for trouble.

REVIEW:COWBOY WOLF OUTLAW is the sixth and final instalment in Kait Ballenger’s contemporary, adult SEVEN RANGE SHIFTERS paranormal romance series. This is Grey Wolf assassin Malcolm Grey, and witch / bartender Trixie Beauregard’s story line. COWBOY WOLF OUTLAW can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but for backstory I recommend reading the series in order as there is an ongoing premise throughout. The SEVEN RANGE SHIFTERS series is a spin off from the author’s Execution Underground series.

SOME BACKGROUND: A group of cannibalistic shifters known as the Volk were forging ahead to take over the territory once used by the Seven Range Shifters. Reluctantly partnering with the Volk, the vampires are taking aim at the shifters, destroying anyone who get in their way.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Malcolm and Trixie) COWBOY WOLF OUTLAW follows the building relationship between Grey Wolf assassin Malcolm Grey, and witch / bartender Trixie Beauregard. Malcolm had lost his previous mate Bo to the Execution Underground, and struggled for months with the grief of his loss, choosing to drink away his pain at the Midnight Coyote Saloon, served by the woman that stirs at his heart but Trixie Beauregard is much more than human, and a woman who is struggling with her own demons from the past. When Trixie overhears plans to take down the Grey Wolf Pack, our heroine is pulled into a spiral from which she can never return but Trixie must take refuge with the Grey Wolf Pack, a pack that will see betrayal at the hands of our story line heroine. What ensues is the building relationship between Malcolm and Trixie, and the potential fall-out as Trixie becomes payment for a debt owed, a debt Malcolm is willing to take on his own.

The relationship between Trixie and Malcolm is a frenemies to lovers relationship in which Malcolm struggles with the loss of his mate. Trixie knows the pain of betrayal, of loss, of secrets and lies, and in this, tries to seduce our hero into something more. Malcolm never expected to find himself falling for our story line heroine but his fall threatens the pack that he was learning to call his own. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my ‘romance’ story line.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, supernatural secondary and supporting characters including Wes (Cowboy Wolf Trouble), Colt Cavanaugh (Cowboy in Wolf’s Clothing), Packmaster Maverick (Fierce Cowboy Wolf), Blaze and Dakota (Wild Cowboy Wolf); Warlock ‘Boss’; former waitress Dani, vampires Alaric, Corbin, and Cillian; Detroit Rock City MC shifters Dom, Reaper and Rigs. The requisite evil has many faces.

COWBOY WOLF OUTLAW is a story of betrayal, secrets, lies and forgiveness. The fast paced premise is intriguing and entertaining; the romance is impassioned and fated; the characters are broken, struggling, powerful and healing.

But this cowboy has a dark secret he can never escape, and Blaze fears the day when his demons catch up to him.

Dakota Nguyen has everything a she-wolf could ever want—an appointment as one of the pack’s first female elite warriors, a career as the ranch’s veterinarian, and an endearing family that’s equal parts loveable and trouble. There’s just one thing missing—someone to share it with. Enter: Blaze. For the first time ever, Dakota’s now seeing her best friend in a whole new light. But to act on her desires could have deadly consequences for them both.

REVIEW:WILD COWBOY WOLF is the fifth instalment in Kait Ballenger’s contemporary, adult SEVEN RANGE SHIFTERS erotic, paranormal romance series. This is security technology specialist and warrior Blaze Carter, and veterinarian Dakota Nguyen’s story line. WILD COWBOY WOLF can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary. SEVEN RANGE SHIFTERS is a spin off from the author’s EXECUTION UNDERGROUND Series.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premies, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Blaze and Dakota) WILD COWBOY WOLF follows the friends to lovers relationship between wolf shifters security technology specialist and warrior Blaze Carter, and veterinarian Dakota Nguyen. Blaze has loved Dakota for as long as he can remember but the demons from his past refuse to let go such that to claim Dakota as his mate means to place Dakota in the direct line of fire. Once a member of the shifters only MAC-V-Alpha team with the US Army, Blaze’s last undercover assignment in Russia broke our hero, leaving him struggling in the wake of witnessing the atrocities and brutality of the group under investigation. When a pack mate goes missing, and several cattle are destroyed, the return of his old enemy is first and foremost on his mind, leaving Blaze battling the ghosts of battles lost. What ensues is the reluctant but building romance and relationship between Blaze and Dakota, and the potential fall-out as the pack is targeted in a vicious act of vengeance and power.

Blaze Carter’s past is shrouded in secrets having spent several months undercover on assignment in Russia but Blaze’s secrets are destroying the man with whom Dakota has fallen in love. As the newest member of the Seven Range Shifter warriors Dakota wants to prove herself capable as everyone else but Blaze’s need to protect Dakota goes into overdrive with reality that his past has resurfaced, hoping to finish the job.

The relationship between Dakota and Blaze is a fated mates wherein Blaze struggles to claim our heroine in the wake of his inability to let go of the past. Blaze knows it is only a matter of time before everyone he loves is target, and in this, not claiming Dakota means protecting the woman with whom he had fallen in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Grey Wolf packmaster Maverick and his mate Sierra (Fierce Cowboy Wolf 3), warrior and pack medic Austin, doctor Belle Beaumont, Malcolm and Kieran. Not everyone will survive the upcoming battle.

WILD COWBOY WOLF is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and obsession, friendships, family, relationships and love. The premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is passionate; the characters are compelling and determined.

“Be vewy quiet. We’re hunting wabbits,” Blaze whispered, after they’d encountered their fourth hare in the forest underbrush with not so much as a single vampire in sight.
“That reference is lost on me,” Dakota answered.
“It’s Elmer Fudd from Looney Tunes. It’s an American cartoon classic,” Blaze answered. “We’ll work on it.” Crouching down in the brush, with a quick lash of his hand, he snatched the hare from beneath the patch of rocky mountain juniper by its long hind legs. The tiny animal had been unsuspectingly nibbling on the foliage, unaware that two wolves approached.
The small animal wriggled in his grip, tiny heart thumping in response to the predator now holding it as Blaze’s eyes flashed to wolf. “You could at least make it difficult,” he said to the creature. “Next time, I’ll eat you for dinner.” He released the hare back into the underbrush, watching it dart off into the darkness of the forest.
Dakota sighed. “Unless you plan to actually eat it, leave the bunnies alone.”
Typical animal lover.
From the way Dakota spoke about their prey when in human form, no one outside the pack would know she was a fierce she- wolf. That love of animals coupled with her organized, analytical nature made her an excellent veterinarian.
Blaze grumbled, resting his arms on his knees. He stared into the shadows, still watching the spot where the hare had disappeared. “They make it too easy.”
“Spoken like a true wolf.”
Blaze’s eyes burned brighter gold. He grinned in response.
It was the first true exchange they’d had since they’d left the pasture to tromp through the forest several hours earlier. They’d caught the sickly sweet scent of vampire on the breeze, the smell instantly stirring their wolf senses, but any actual encounters had proved elusive.
But they were out there. The smell of the cattle’s death in the field would draw their intrigue.
“Why do you think the vampires are draining animals?” Dakota used the stake he’d given her to gesture to where the bunny had been. “Malcolm mentioned a deer being drained in the forest when we were on patrol the other night, and now this.”
Considering everything going on lately, Blaze wasn’t entirely certain the vampires were the sole culprits. The smell of this much death would have drawn them, and they never missed a chance to attack the pack. Old rivalries died hard, but…
He shook his head. He still couldn’t bring himself to speak their name. The packmaster had warned him about being too paranoid. Perhaps he’d been so focused on his past that he wasn’t seeing what was laid out directly in front of him? Even if his enemies had come for him, they’d send two, maybe three, since they’d know from his file what he was capable of.
That small number would be enough to do the necessary damage both to him and the pack. The carnage of a dozen dead cattle they’d left behind in the field was only worthy of one—and after what he’d done to them in Dark Force, they wouldn’t take their chances. Not to mention they never drained animals.
They devoured, maimed.
Destroyed.
He inhaled a deep breath, trying to reassure himself further. Not
to mention all the occurrences around the ranch and the disappear- ance of the subpack member had had little to do with him. After Dark Force, they were supposed to be extinct after all.
But his instincts said otherwise.
Blaze shrugged, still crouched near the forest floor. “There’s no
wild cowboy wolf 107
way to know why they’re feeding on animals unless we find one and ask it.”
Dakota scoffed at his sarcasm. “You know those bloodsuckers are too tight-lipped to converse with us, even under duress—sick, insatiable monsters that they are. They—”
“Dakota, behind you!” Blaze shouted in warning.
At his word, Dakota plunged the stake in a downward arc beneath her armpit, driving it into the bloodsucker’s stomach. The vamp had come on so fast using that damn warp-level speed of theirs that there’d been barely a second for her to prepare for it. But Dakota had been ready. She spun, quickly wrenching the stake from the vampire’s stomach only to plunge it ruthlessly into the monster’s pulsing dead heart.
Blaze grinned with pride.
The vampire sputtered for a moment before bursting like the blood bag that it was, coating him and mainly Dakota in a spray of grime. That was hardly the last of it. Their kills were so much cleaner in wolf form—then he only needed to wash the blood from the fur of his neck and muzzle. But there’d be more vampires where that came from.
Blaze shot to his feet, sensing another vamp approaching to their right. The bloodsucker raced up on him, long fangs bared. The strength and teeth of a vampire could prove deadly to their kind, if the knife in the other creature’s hand didn’t. He’d seen it happen too many times before.
But those wolves hadn’t been him.
Meeting the bloodsucker blow for blow, he blocked the incoming blade by catching the vamp’s arm with his own. He leveraged the millisecond of the vamp’s hesitation and wrenched his dagger from its sheath on his chaps. With a fierce snarl, Blaze sliced his blade across the bloodsucker’s torso. The vampire let out a screeching hiss, stumbling back.
Without warning, Blaze shifted into wolf form, clothes falling to the forest floor beneath him as his limbs twisted and his fur burst forth. The instant his paws connected with the cool mountain ground, he charged, meeting the bloodsucker head-on. This first vamp went down easy. The second, even easier. By the third, he was getting bored.
Darting forward, he rushed the monster, sharp claws scraping and jaws snapping. The scuffle continued for several moments longer until finally he pinned the monster. The vampire had put up a fight, but not one worthy of him.
Canines bared, Blaze snarled before he ripped into the flesh of the vampire’s throat. The metallic, iron taste of blood coated his furred maw. On his hind legs and neck, his hackles raised. Inside, his instincts prickled with awareness. A familiar scent caught in his nose.
Dakota.
With all the force of an alpha wolf guarding his mate, Blaze felt a protective surge race through him. He whipped around in search of her. He hadn’t been able to keep his eyes on her lest they both get themselves killed. But it hadn’t mattered. She was too fierce a warrior. She didn’t need him to save her. The leftover remains of two vampires lay beside her cowgirl boots, and she was coated nearly head to toe in blood—the blood of their enemies that she’d shed.
The gold of her wolf eyes burned like a beacon in the darkness, and she growled as she cast him a censuring look. “You were supposed to stay in human form.”

REVIEW:FIERCE COWBOY WOLF is the fourth instalment in Kait Ballenger’s contemporary, adult SEVEN RANGE SHIFTERS erotic, paranormal, romance series. This is Packmaster / alpha Maverick Grey, and Sierra Cavanaugh’s story line. FIERCE COWBOY WOLF can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary. SEVEN RANGE SHIFTERS is a spin off from the author’s EXECUTION UNDERGROUND Series.

Told from third person perspective including Maverick and Sierra, FIERCE COWBOY WOLF follows in the aftermath of the Elder Council rejection of Sierra Cavanaugh’s application as one of the Elite Warriors of the Seven Range Shifters. Believing the Alpha spearheaded the rejection of her application, Sierra will quickly discover that misogyny reigns, and the rejection was based upon her lack of a mate. Enter Packmaster Maverick Grey , the man/wolf Sierra has loved most of her life who offers a marriage of convenience to appease the people in charge. What ensues is the building but heart breaking relationship between Maverick and Sierra, and the potential fall-out as someone has targeted our story line couple.

Packmaster Maverick Grey struggles in the face of a devastating loss, a loss he blames on himself. Believing the ‘alpha’ is unable to protect both the Pack and a family, Maverick has decided it is better to remain single then to fall in love, and lose the woman who has stolen his heart. Sierra Cavanaugh has never stopped loving our story line hero but years before, Maverick chose somebody else, forcing our heroine to walk away with a broken heart.

The relationship between Sierra and Maverick is an unrequited love /marriage of convenience between two people who have loved one another from afar. Maverick is a ‘tortured hero’ who refuse to accept his own happily ever after, and in doing so, pushes our heroine out of his life. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story lines.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Wes and Naomi Calhoun (Cowboy Wolf Trouble #1), doctor Belle Beaumont, and High Commander Colt Cavanaugh (Cowboy in Wolf’s Clothing 2), rogue Grey wolf leader Jared Black, and Maeve Gray (Wicked Cowboy Wolf 3) ; former Wild Eight wolves Silas and Brent: Shifters Cheyenne, Dakota Nguyen and Blaze Carter. Blaze and Dakota’s story line is next.

FIERCE COWBOY WOLF is a story of family and friendships, betrayal and vengeance; power and control; misogyny, rejection, and love. The fast paced premise is captivating and dramatic ; the characters are animated, dynamic and strong; the romance struggles in the face of rejection but the sexual attraction is palpable.

••••••••••

REVIEW: COWBOY IN WOLF’S CLOTHING is the second instalment in Kait Bellanger’s contemporary, adult SEVEN RANGE SHIFTERS erotic, paranormal romance series, a spin off from the author’s EXECUTION UNDERGROUND series. This is wolf shifters doctor Belle Beaumont, and High Commander Colt Cavanaugh’s story line. COWBOY IN WOLF’S CLOTHING can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information for the previous instalment is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Colt and Belle) COWBOY IN WOLF’S CLOTHING follows the building relationship between wolf shifters doctor Belle Beaumont, and High Commander Colt Cavanaugh. Dr. Belle Beaumont, a rogue wolf without a pack, has been imprisoned by the Seven Range Shifters. Upon her escape, Belle would come face to face with High Commander Colt Cavanaugh, a wolf that stirred something deep within our story line heroine, something she is hoping to explore. An attack by a group of vampires and half-vampires leaves our hero struggling for his life, a life of which Belle is about to save. What ensues is the building relationship between Belle and Colt, and the potential fall-out as Belle discovers the truth about our story line hero, a truth he has been hiding most of his life.

Colt Cavanaugh is first and foremost a warrior, a shifter, and a cowboy at heart but Colt has been targeted by a group of vampires who know more about our hero than the pack he represents. Fighting for his life, Colt struggles with his attraction to a woman who could threaten any semblance of peace our hero has earned. At war with the rogue pack known as Wild Eight’s as well as the ongoing battle with a group of vampires hunting on their lands, the Seven Range Shifters must come to a decision as it pertains to the threat against all of their lives. Meanwhile, Belle Beaumont is desperate to escape the strangle hold of both the Wild Eights, and the Seven Range Shifters. Not quite a prisoner but detained none the less, our heroine struggles with her attraction to a man who doesn’t do relationships, and is more into one-night stands. A series of attacks against the Seven Range Shifters finds Belle on the run, not only for her life but to escape the man with whom she has fallen in love.

The relationship between Belle and Colt is one of immediate attraction but Colt doesn’t do relationships, and Belle is in no position to settle down. Belle gives as good as she gets including her one on one banter with our story line hero. With her freedom granted for services rendered, Belle heads to place unknown until news of a different kind changes her plans. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but I struggle with the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story lines.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Wes Calhoun and Naomi Evans (Cowboy Wolf Trouble #1), Colt’s sister Sierra, Packmaster Maverick Grey and his sister Maeve, Malcolm, Dean, Austin, IT specialist Blaze, vampire Lucas, and several members of the Seven Range Shifters and Wild Eights packs.

COWBOY IN WOLF’S CLOTHING is a passionate story of family, friendship, bonding and blood. The premise is dramatic, energetic and engaging; the characters are edgy and animated; the romance is spicy and hot. COWBOY IN WOLF’S CLOTHING is an imaginative and intense addition to Kait Ballenger’s SEVEN RANGE SHIFTERS series.
