My name is Thalia Clairmont and I am heir to the throne of Vyronas. A title that was unknown to me after the love of my life, Bastien Dunne, had me stripped of my memories and sent me through the veil into another dimension. He maintains it was for my protection after my parents were killed and our kingdom was overthrown, but I see it as a betrayal.

Overwhelmed by my feelings of both love and anger for Bastien, I quickly understand that things aren’t what they once were. Vyronas is at war and an evil sorceress has claimed my throne by casting her blood magic to subjugate my people. With my memories returned, I realize Bastien isn’t the man I once loved and has instead become a distant, hardened warrior whose heart is as cold as ice.

My magic alone cannot defeat the blood sorcery, so I delve into the deepest shadows to find a way to regain control of my kingdom. Can I defeat evil without succumbing to the darkness? And will Bastien and I be able to reclaim the love we once shared? I am the Shadow Princess and it’s time for me to reclaim my throne.

REVIEW:THE SHADOW PRINCESS is the sixth instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s adult CHRONICLES OF THE STONE VEIL erotic, fantasy series. This is twenty-seven year old Princess Thalia Clairmont of Vyronas, and commandant Bastien Dunne’s story line. THE SHADOW PRINCESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from first person (Thalia) and third person (Bastien) THE SHADOW PRINCESS focuses on the return of Princess Thalia Clairmont of Vyronas. Seven years earlier, in an effort to protect the sole heir to the throne, Thalia Clairmont was bespelled, and sent to live in the First Dimension aka Earth aka Wyoming where she would live and flourish, never knowing her true identity or the powers she controlled. Fast forward to present day wherein the Vyronas commandant Bastien Dunne is tasked with retrieving the soon to be queen, Thalia Clairmont, the woman he once loved but a woman who must now rule in the face of death and destruction. Ferelith, an evil sorceress, has been using blood magic, a forbidden form of alchemy, to take control and destroy anyone who opposes her siege but the wielders of blood magic become more powerful with every kill, and Thalia only knows of one person capable of teaching our heroine how to manipulate those powers. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Thalia and Bastien, and the potential fall-out as Ferelith sets her sights on our story line heroine, taking aim at man who controls Thalia’s heart.

Bastien Dunne lost all emotions and feelings the day Thalia was exiled to the First Dimension. Seven years yearning for the woman he once loved, Bastien struggled with Thalia’s return and his inability to move beyond the feelings no longer under his control. Thalia Clairmont’s memories and powers returned upon her arrival in the dimension where she was born but Thalia battled between head and heart believing betrayal was at the center of her exile and banishment. Reuniting with Bastien was made more difficult with Bastien’s less than welcoming attitude and emotions, emotions of which he no longer controlled. An impending war with Ferelith has Thalia searching for help, help that will reveal the truth about who she is, and of what she is capable.

The relationship between Bastien and Thalia is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people who had fallen in love years before but destroyed by a need to protect, preserve and defend. Thalia was still in love with the man that broke her heart, and proving he is worthy meant sacrificing in the face of danger and death. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Bastien’s brother Kieran Dunne; Thalia’s cousin Archer, their uncle Hephastus; several members of the Vyronas’ Conclave including Chief Laina Mercea; demigod Maddox; fallen angel/Dark Fae/leader of the Underworld Amel; and sorceress Ferelith Haramish. I am hoping the author has plans for Kieran, Maddox and Amel.

THE SHADOW PRINCESS is a complex and enchanted story of power and control, death and destruction, magic and the black arts, second chances and love. The premise is detailed, intriguing and dramatic; the characters are spirited and edgy; the romance is intimate and tender.

It’s time to meet my destiny.

It’s up to me to stop her.

My fate is to thwart the prophecy, but I’m not sure what to do. While I may have some gifts, I am still merely a human facing the queen of the Dark Fae who holds unimaginable power.

But I have something she doesn’t. Something she could never comprehend.

I have love.

Deep, abiding love which gives me the strength and courage to face down evil. Family, friends, and unexpected allies, who will stand shoulder to shoulder with me against this enemy. Should I fail, they are prepared to go down with me, but only after we have given our all.

My sacrifice may destroy everything I am. Fate may require my demise. But if that happens, I will leave this realm without regret, knowing that I have loved and been loved in return.

REVIEW:THE RISE OF FORTUNE AND FURY is the fifth and final instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult CHRONICLES OF THE STONE VEIL paranormal/fantasy romance series focusing on twenty-eight year old Finley Porter, and Carrick Byrne. THE RISE OF FORTUNE AND FURY should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events and cliff hanger of book four A BATTLE OF BLOOD AND STONE.

NOTE: If you have not read the previous instalments, there may be spoilers in my review.

SOME BACKGROUND: All of her life Finley Porter has been treated for hallucinations but days before her twenty-eighth birthday Finley is pulled into a world of the Light and Dark Fae by a man who stirs something deep within our story line heroine. An end of the world prophecy declares our heroine the savior, and in this Finley struggles with her fated destiny. As the gods watch the prophecy play out, some take it upon themselves to interfere where they do not belong.

Told from first person perspective (Finley) and third person (Carrick) THE RISE OF FORTUNE AND FURY sees the prophecy come to fruition as Finley must accept her fate as the savior of the world. Kymaris, Dark Fae and self-proclaimed Queen of the Underworld, wants to take control of everything and everyone, and to do so, must tear a hole in the Veil between worlds. With everything at her disposal to win the war, a sacrifice of another sort will be what takes Kymaris down but our hero Carrick Byrne, a demi-god who has loved Finley Porter for most of his life, knows that our heroine’s death is imminent, and only then, will the Game of the Gods come to an end. The ‘Scooby gang’ has come prepared but they will quickly discover that Kymaris’ power is stronger than they could have ever imagined, and it is only with the sacrifice of a human life that Finley is able to protect the people she loves.

THE RISE OF FORTUNE AND FURY is a story of power and obsession, family and friendships, sacrifice and loss, betrayal and vengeance, forgiveness and love. Sawyer Bennett pulls the reader into an intriguing, detailed, character driven and stunning story of good vs evil, and love vs hate. The gods are bored, and need a war to entertain them, a war where the loss of life is high for Finley and her friends. The premise is imaginary and original; the romance is intimate and passionate; the characters are energetic, colorful, spirited and inspiring. Here’s hoping the author has plans for a continuing story for some of the secondary characters we have met along the way.

My only complaint, the final fight scene was eerily familiar, I was wondering when the vampires and werewolves were going to take the field. 😉

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 23, 2021

Evil is coming.

A dark malevolence the likes of which this world has never seen, and it comes straight from the depths of Hell. Darkness meant to destroy. A prophecy I am fated to fulfill but will most likely not survive.

Through it all, Carrick Byrne has stood strong by my side. Something has deeply changed between me and the man I once despised, and all it took was a kiss of provocation for both of us to feel it. I know deep in my soul we’re being guided by destiny, but I don’t know if I can trust it. Carrick is holding something back, and I fear the consequences could be deadly once his truth is revealed.

We’re not ready, but calamity waits for no woman. I have discovered a power within myself I must learn to master. A new connection in the Underworld has been revealed to me, one that I hope is friend but is just as likely foe. We are in a race against time as we try to figure out how to stop the end of the world from occurring. The battle is coming, and I can only hope we’re prepared for what happens next.

REVIEW:THE EVOLUTION OF FAE AND GODS is the third instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult CHRONICLES OF THE STONE VEIL paranormal/urban fantasy series focusing on twenty-eight year old Finley Porter, and Carrick Byrne. THE EVOLUTION OF FAE AND GODS should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book two A DISCOVERY OF SECRETS AND FATES.

Told from first person perspective (Finley) and third person (Carrick Byrne) THE EVOLUTION OF FAE AND GODS picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book two wherein Finley’s life continues to implode. With her business in ruins, and the person responsible has set their sights on ruling the world, Finley, along with Carrick Byrne must work together in preparation to take down the Dark Fae determined to destroy them all. When Carrick goes in search of answers and information, Finley, and her friends, work behind the scenes scouring the ancient tomes for some hint of things to come. As Finley’s power continue to grow, her ability to connect with the Underworld reveals the possibility of someone once lost, found again.

THE EVOLUTION OF FAE AND GODS is a fast paced, intricately detailed and revealing story line. We learn about the connection between Carrick and Finley, and Carrick’s decision to walk away; some history of the Fae, changelings, angels and daemons, as well as The Fallen. Finley Porter continues to be a little TSTL (too stupid to live) in that she refuses to remain in the relative safety of Carrick’s home, a home where angels, demi-gods and daemons are at her service. Sawyer Bennett pulls the reader into an intricate and twisted story line about a fight for power and control; a tale of manipulation and magic, tragedy and loss. The premise is strong and haunting; the characters are animated and powerful; the sexual chemistry is sizzling and hot; the romance is seductive and passionate. THE EVOLUTION OF FAE AND GODS ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

ABOUT THE BOOK : Release Date February 9, 2021

I always knew I was different.

From a young age, my mind has been plagued with things only I could see. Some hauntingly beautiful, others completely terrifying. Never knowing if these visions were real or just hallucinations, I learned how to lock them down and ignore them. I learned to take solace in the relative anonymity of city life and find peace in the rainy days my city of Seattle is known for.
But just when I think my life is getting on track and my dreams are achievable, a moment of weakness causes me to learn a hard and fast lesson.

My entire existence has been a lie.

Now I’m faced with a new reality that’s as implausible as it is fantastical. Filled with realms and veils, light and dark, fae and daemons, gods and angels–things I don’t understand but am forced to acknowledge. It doesn’t help that the man teaching me about my unique gifts is the gorgeously handsome Carrick Byrne, one of Seattle’s richest and most powerful men. He intimidates, annoys, and intrigues me all at the same time. I don’t trust him and yet there’s no one else to help me.
No longer certain who to put my faith in, what to believe, or how I fit into it all, one revelation is clear…

The world as I know it will never be the same again.

The Revelation of Light and Dark is book one of the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and is best enjoyed if read in series order.
