REVIEW:THE INTERN by Michele Campbell is a contemporary, adult , legal thriller focusing on law student Madison Rivera, and Judge Kathryn Conroy.

Told from omniscient third person perspectives (Madison and Kathryn) following several intersecting time lines, THE INTERN follows in the wake of Madison Rivera’s position as Judge Kathryn Conroy’s new intern. Madison Rivera is desperate to prove her brother’s innocence and with the revelation of Judge Conroy’s connections to the case, Madison is determined to uncover the truth behind her brother’s arrest and ultimately his accusations of corruption against everyone involved but all does not go according to plan when Madison finds herself blackmailed into working in the gray areas for the woman who is currently the gate keeper to her brother’s freedom . As the story progresses, Madison will find herself in the middle of a decades old investigation of betrayal, murder, and questionable law enforcement.

THE INTERN is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, betrayal and vengeance, blackmail and murder, family, double cross and deception. Akin and reminiscent of the television show ‘How to Get Away with Murder’, THE INTERN focuses on a community of law makers on the take, using their positions of power to control everyone who gets in the way. The thought provoking premise is dramatic, detailed, complex and multi-layered; the characters are questionable, devious, tragic and impassioned.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 27, 2022

In the legal world, everyone knows my last name. So, when Declan Shaw—the hottest, most ruthless and sought-after litigator in the state—comes in to mentor my class’s mock trial, I decide not to reveal that piece of personal information.

I want a one-on-one with him like I’m any other law student, especially when we go out to celebrate after class.

But the one-on-one ends with us in the alley behind the bar.

With us stripping off our clothes.

With me screaming his name.

It’s desperate-to-have-you, no-holds-barred, downright filthy sex.

And then, he ghosts me, like a complete alphahole.

But a few weeks later, when I walk into The Dalton Group—my family’s law firm—where I’m starting my internship, my new boss is waiting for me.

The man I despise.

The man I can still taste in my fantasies.

Declan Shaw.

REVIEW: Are you ready for a sizzling hot, enemies to lovers romance? Strap in fellow readers, this one’s gonna knock more than your socks off. Declan is officially Alpha Hole of the year! This was the perfect book to keep me warm during this lovely snowpocalypse we just had.

The Intern is the fourth installment in the Dalton Family series by Marni Mann. Each book can be read as a standalone, but as always I recommend reading the series in order.

Declan and Hannah have a fiery connection, one that starts at a slow simmer, but quickly boils over from their chemistry. Declan alone, -feminine sigh- is what every smutty reader would call the ultra, over the top alpha. Growly, gruff, and just the right amount of alpha hole. When Declan and Hannah get together though…fire ignites and nothing can stop it.

A chance encounter in Hannah’s mentoring class leads her to Declan. She wants him. He wants her. They have a single passionate tryst, and what does he do? Ghosts her. Low in behold, a few weeks later Hannah starts her internship at her family’s company; The Dalton Group, and who is there? Declan himself.

Declan is angry at both of them, and embarrassed. Because of this he lashes out at her, making her internship a living hell. Even though Declan is determined to make this difficult for Hannah, she isn’t backing down. She knows what she wants, and will fight to make it hers. Declan may think that Hannah is young, but he quickly realizes that she is going to one hell of a litigator. He also has to accept that he won’t stop wanting Hannah. He doesn’t do relationships, but Hannah is changing his mind on that. While they try to work out whatever it is that they have, Declan still feels guilty for wanting his long-time friend’s cousin, not to mention he’s also his new boss.

Oh how I loved this series! Declan and Hannah are literally everything I could have asked for. Their chemistry, their fight, their growth as characters, their spicy bits, OMG their spicy bits! I thought I loved The Dalton brothers, but I think I may have just been won over by Mr. Declan Shaw.
