REVIEW: A REAPER’S SECRET is the first instalment in Sam Crescent’s contemporary, adult THE REAPERS erotic, romance series focusing the small town of Lost Creek, and a group of secret protectors known as The Reapers. This is forty-year old, leader of the Reapers Daniel Long, and thirty year old, cafe owner Amy Flynn’s story line.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Daniel and Amy) THE REAPER’S SECRET follows the rapidly building romance and relationship between our story line couple. Amy Flynn is the much beloved owner of a cafe in Lost Creek, and Daniel Long is a regular, and along with his friends, owns a bar known as The Reaper. For years Daniel has pined after our story line heroine but the Reapers are always wary when tourists come to town, and one such tourist is about to cause Amy more trouble than she can handle. When a series of ‘accidents’ befalls Flynn’s Cafe, Daniel and his ‘brothers’ become guardian and protector, ensuring Lost Creek and Amy never have to worry about the threats again. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Amy and Daniel,and the potential fall-out when Amy is targeted by someone with a misaligned vendetta.
The world building focuses on the protection of Lost Creek by a group known as The Reapers, a group who remain secretive yet local legends poses them as dangerous and dark; on Amy’s relationship with the locals; and the friendships made throughout the years.
The relationship between Amy and Daniel is a friends to lovers affair. Daniel has been in love with Amy for as long as he can remember but Daniel has bided his time, and the time has come to claim Amy as his own. Amy has no intentions of saying no to our story line heroine, and their relationship goes from zero to sixty in the blink of an eye. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense.
We are introduced to a couple of the Reapers: August, Nixon; Sheriff Billy, as well as Amy’s employees Penelope and Martha. The requisite evil has many faces.
A REAPER’S SECRET is a fast paced, quick read of power and vendetta, betrayal and hurt, acceptance and love. The premise is intriguing and entertaining; the romance is passionate, fast and furious; the characters are determined and driven. The epilogue advances the story line ten years.
