Cinderella and Fae Charming (Fae Twisted Fairytales 1) by Amelia Shaw-a review

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 28, 2021.

Just because I sleep in front of the fire, doesn’t make me a damsel in distress.

My step-mother calls me Cinderella… Not because I’m happily married to a prince, but because I have a horrible family! My parents are both dead, leaving me with a step mother who tormented me until I left home forever.

Now I live on the streets, stealing food to survive. It isn’t ideal, but neither was living under the same roof as the my step-mother once my father died.

But I’m not helpless, I can handle anything that comes my way… Until I my step-mother tries to sell off my father’s house.

Now all bets are off.

••••••

REVIEW:This is a new series from an author I regularly read. It’s a slow burn romance that can be easily read in a few hours.

Shawna is now living on the streets after leaving the family home! Her life was a living hell under her father’s roof! But not because of her parents. They’ve both died! It was her stepmother and stepsisters! Turning her into a drudge, they made her life so miserable it was easier to live on the streets than at home!Using the small amount of magic she possess, Shawna steals food! But lately her magic is failing her! Is it because she’s so hungry? She can’t turn to her only friend Blaize (he works as a tailors assistant) as she doesn’t want to get him into trouble)

Meeting Hanzel after following him through the market, they form what Shawna thinks is a friendship. Sharing her meagre sleeping arrangements, they plan their activities for the following day. But when she wakes up all that’s next to her is a pile of food!

Twisted fairytale’s seem to be the newest genre to hit the market (I’ve read some a few years ago, but they seem to be more popular at the moment)And although a slow burn, it’s a really good story.

Shawna hears that her old family home is going on the market! She can’t believe her father never made provisions for her in his will! But getting to see justice isn’t going to be easy! She needs an audience with the king!

I have to admit, I’m use to my fairytales a lot darker at the moment, and way steamier ? it did feel more like a YA (young adult) read rather than an adult.

So does she get the audience with the king? Does her evil stepmother take the house and Shawna has nothing?
Or will she use her magic for revenge? (If that happens then she will turn from Seelie to Unseelie and they aren’t a nice bunch of fae!)  And who was the mysterious Hanzel?

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 1, 2020

Her Mother’s death unleashes her biggest secret….. the secret that could destroy them all.

When Ava’s mother dies, the responsibility of her daughters safety falls to the eldest of the three. Heir to the Coven, she must locate the most powerful warlock in all the realms: her father.

Only problem is, he has no idea he has a daughter, and the Counsel of Warlock’s is not about to allow an illegitimate heir to inherit their power.

Now Ava must hide who she is…or risk the wrath of the most powerful warlocks in the Universe. But hiding the power inside her isn’t as easy as it sounds, and soon, she finds her life and the life of her sisters in danger.

••••••••••••

REVIEW: I’ve read a few of the authors previous books, and I’m opening it with much anticipation…..

Ava being the eldest of three sisters isn’t impressed with her mother, although she’s dying, her mother is still a formidable figure.

Getting told that she had to look after and protect her younger sisters has Ava annoyed. Why her? They are old enough, but there is something her mother is hiding…..

When your whole world literally falls down around your ears, you would expect to feel fear, wouldn’t you? Ava did, but she also felt free, no longer under the harsh tongue of her mother.

We follow Ava through a minefield…. finding out about her father was the easy part, finding out both herself and her sisters will be hunted and murdered by the council was hard, and why? Her father can only have one heir by his wife chosen by the council, see where this is going?

This book is told in the main characters point of view. I got the impression when first reading the character of Ava, she was a bit of a brat!! But the further you get into the book, Ava shows us why she’s cold, her mother always pushed her, she got the talks, Courtney and Bella got the love. But we see Ava grow, she needs answers to her heritage so she has to be careful where she looks for answers.

So does Ava get to meet her father? And who is Tavlor? And what is the connection that Ava feels with him? Can she trust him?

It ends on a cliffhanger!! So I’m definitely wanting to read the next instalment.

“Why is everyone afraid of you?”
I wasn’t sure if this was rude or not to ask. I probably should have been a little more tactful, but the words popped out of my mouth before I could stop them. Now that they were out there, I couldn’t take them back. I would own them, then.
There was a twitch in Tavlor’s cheek as his straight lips tilted down into a frown. “Because I’m a bastard,” he said as though it was obvious. “An abomination. A half breed.”
I curled my fingers into fists. He didn’t even seem perturbed by the horrible things he was saying. Not in the slightest. I giggled a little at that moment. I couldn’t help it. The whole thing was ludicrous.
He turned to glare at me, and I clamped my hand over my mouth.
“I’m sorry,” I said, though I didn’t sound sorry in the slightest. “You sound like one of them. It’s ridiculous.”
I rolled my eyes, just for good measure.
His gaze changed, his liquid silver eyes piercing my soul.
I swallowed down a moan and cleared my throat with a cough. “Can you like… not do that please?”
“Not do what?” He asked, his tone confused.
I immediately looked away. He must not even realize. No wonder he was deadly. He didn’t even realize what sort of affect he had on people.
“The…” I gestured with my hand, hoping it would help me explain. “I don’t even know what it is. I feel like you’re looking into my soul.”
He looked away and straightened his spine as though recovering from an insult. “I apologise.”
“Oh no, it’s okay,” I said quickly. I didn’t want him to think he was doing anything wrong. Was he doing anything wrong? I didn’t know the technicalities, of course. I didn’t know the laws here. But whatever he was doing, it didn’t seem like it was being done on purpose. “You probably can’t help it, it’s just un-nerving.”
“I know.” His voice was still a growl, but there was a sheepishness about it that was almost endearing. “People hate it.”
Hate it? I burst out laughing again and this time he rounded on me. “What are you laughing at?” he demanded.
I winced. I hadn’t meant to offend him. Strangely, I found myself wanting to console him, to make him understand that I wasn’t trying to tease. Everything was catching up to me – Mother’s death, Father’s rejection and then offer of help, Mallory’s strange bigotry. I was also missing my sister’s more than I cared to admit only because it would bring me even more pain.
“Oh no!” I shook my head. “That’s not what I meant… I…”
I glanced around at all the strangers still watching us. “Can we go somewhere private?” I asked in a whisper.
Tavlor nodded. “Follow me.”

I’m a nerd. A bookworm. I slay with words, not swords.

The legacy is the first book in a New Adult, college-age paranormal academy series. Expect magic lessons, a bookworm heroine, a sexy scene or two,and a slow-burn forbidden love romance

***Author note – this series is three novella length urban fantasy books. Recommended 17+ due to language and love scenes.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: Reading the back cover, I got the impression of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I liked that show, so I flipped the kindle open and dived in…..

Megara (or Meg to her friends)is not a kick ass warrior woman, Meg is a book worm, she’s not use to fighting and certainly not monsters. But we are getting ahead of ourselves. Let’s go back …..

Meg is off to do a gap year before deciding what’s next in her life she very excited. But her whole world is about to change, and in her opinion, not for the better.

She’s unaware that both her parents are Fae slayers (and are pretty good at their job) and it’s time for their daughter to leave this life and enrol in Slayer Academy, to say that Megara is shocked and displeased is an understatement…… she’s thinking it’s a big joke, but as it sinks in, she realises her family are serious, they are going to shop her off to some school….

Arriving at the front of the academy Megara is in awe of the building, but she’s also a little apprehensive, it doesn’t look too friendly, and the nerves Meg had been suppressing, come back big a bang (this is all some terrible dream).

We meet other class mates (and that wasn’t a great first meeting) they aren’t impressed, the Callum’s are great warriors and hunters of the Fae, and Meg, well she’s a big disappointment!!!

We then read all the fun times (not) with weaponry (she’s no good with swords) and her hand to hand skills are a joke!!! But the other lessons, Meg is a keen student and makes the grades.

And it’s not teenage angst unless there is a love story…. and this one will be a forbidden one, why? Is Fiore Fae ? And if so, that’s a big NO NO in the slayer world, they can’t and shouldn’t be together, but you try telling a teenager NO?and Fiore (that’s the hunks name) is definitely worth disobeying everyone for. There is just something about him (besides being hot) there is a connection Megara has never felt with anyone before. But there is also that element of danger that keeps Meg from falling too deep.
We also have Brutus (a student at the school) there is definitely a spark between them, so we could have a love triangle?

Oh and did I mention a Legacy? (Well the title does give it away) it’s her legacy, five generations of her family have attended and have slain the evil Fae. Is there more to her legacy (I have a feeling there is)

So if you like heroines that’s aren’t warriors, that are nerds first and foremost, then you definitely need to pick this book up.

And book two….. if it’s half as good as this one, then I’m in.

From Fae Slayer to renegade rebel.
Slayer Academy 101:
•The Fae are evil
•A Slayer must trust their instincts.

Well, my instincts are flashing like a neon sign—the Academy can’t be trusted.
I’ve glimpsed the true heart of a Fae prince. Fiore is kind, merciful and saved my life.
Now he’s missing.

Journeying to the Fae realm is treacherous, especially with Nyeer, the Fae prince who tried to kill me.
But loathing soon turns to lust and Nyeer strips away my defenses—along with my clothes— until my heart’s in just as much danger as my life.

This Fae Slaying gig is not all it’s cracked up to be.
Magic lessons and weapons classes were child’s play compared to the fight to rescue Fiore and protect the Fae Kingdom.
And to save three Fae princes, their Kingdom’s only defense… I may have to give them up forever.

Author warning: This book is much hotter than book 1. ***Fae Hunter is the second book in a College-age Paranormal Reverse Harem Academy series.

•••••••••••••

REVIEW: Reading the description I got the distinct impression our Meg is turning into a little slut!!! (Well she slept with Brutus, she’s been having sexy dreams about Fiore, and now she’s turned her attention to Nyeer) I can’t keep up with the girl?

We start this book at the beginning of a new term, Meg has just spent the last two weeks at her parents, catching up with her BFF and family. But now she’s back, her mission is clear …… Find evidence that the Fae aren’t as bad as the history books say they are.

Megara/Meg has decided that she’s not going to hunt and kill the evil Fae, she’s going to find out what the truth is, and she feels like the Fae have had a raw deal for centuries. But proving it will be difficult, she can’t tell her roommates, she can’t tell Brutus (sparring partner and part time lover) she can’t even ask the librarian. She’s on this mission alone. She just needs to speak to Fiore or Nyeer (one of the Fae leaders)

She gets her wish sooner than she anticipated, a portal opens and a figure emerges…..

Fiore is missing!!! Meg needs to do something, she feels like it’s her fault. She needs to do research whilst waiting for Nyeer to return in three days time.

After meeting up with Nyeer, he takes her back to his castle (he is one of the three princes that rules the Fae kingdom, Fiore being one of the others)
Teaching Meg defence movements has her all hot and bothered, and before you know it Meg and Nyeer are going at it like bunny rabbits (this not I found a bit disconcerting, if there is a connection between Fiore and Meg, why is she in bed with Nyeer?)

The third prince (Everly) makes an appearance at the castle and is disgusted that no one is looking for the third Prince (Fiore) Meg is feeling really guilty and steps up the attempts to find Fiore……
With luck and a little magic, they find where Fiore is being held, and plan a rescue.

Do they rescue Fiore? Will Megara have to chose? And who will it be?
And boy is it a cliffhanger ending……

This book is more racier than the first, it felt like it was heading towards a reverse harem (three guys one woman)

Hi guys! Thank you so much for asking me to do a post today. I’ve been writing on and off for ten years, and have been published for the last six years or so.

Follow: Facebook / Website / Bookbub Instagram /

I write under several pen names, and my other PNR one is Tamsin Baker, but I leave that pseudonym for more of my LGBT or unusual projects now.

My latest series is – the Slayer Academy.

A college aged- New adult, Paranormal Academy serial. A trilogy. It’s my first ever New adult story, so it’s been challenging to get the themes and language right.

Not to mention the fact I’d never written about the Fae before. I loved the idea of the touch of magic, other realms and beautiful men. I mean- who doesn’t? But getting the balance right was hard as well.

Question 1. Cover Images-do you believe a cover image can make or break a book sale?

I do. I am a massive cover art collector. I love pre-mades and have over ten files sitting in my old downloads that I know I’ll never use- but HAD to buy them at the time. Without thought to market or genre- I just wanted them.

I think you have to have an appealing cover- but it also has to tell the person looking at it- exactly what the book is about in the two second glance we give a new cover.

I do like my covers for this series- but since launching them I’ve acknowledged that I will need to hire a higher priced, more photoshop trained designer for my next series.

Question 2. Balancing writing and family.

Hmmm… well, to answer this question correctly, I will have to reveal that I live in an unusual family situation. My relationship is a closed poly triad, with my husband and our live in partner/girlfriend. My husband has four grown children, I have two biological children and I help raise my girlfriends two children. So in short, we have three adults, four children under ten and I have a day job as well.

How do I balance it all? Prioritise. I have a cleaner- my girlfriend and I share the washing, the cooking, the shopping. I try to write in pockets of time I have when my kids are asleep, at school, or at their fathers.

My writing is a passion, a need, a must. I can’t… not write. So, like with all passions, I think you find the time. Even if it means I don’t watch much tv, but I always have quality time with my kids and my partners.

That’s my priority as I work towards publishing and writing full time.

Thanks for your time! And I hope you enjoy one, some or ALL of my books!

I’m a doctor who hasn’t had a date since cell phones became ‘smart.’ How is it possible that three gorgeous guys can all want me at once?
It was a normal day, during a normal shift, in my normal life… when everything changed.

I wake up in a house in the middle of the woods with three men that allege they can turn in to WOLVES.

I don’t believe them of course. Who would?

But the proof is undeniable, and so is the attraction I feel for all three of them.

I want them… I do. And if wolf shifters are real… then all bets are off.

I’m Alice and I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole.

I wanna see how deep this desire goes, because i won’t choose between them.

And luckily, they don’t ask me to.

Even with the threat of the bear shifters, and the fact that this all-male pack hasn’t born a female in over fifty years…

I need them.

This too big, sassy, smart girl is gonna get her happily ever after. Even if it means going against every instinct I have.
This story is a standalone novella set in the Woodlands Pack world, can be read in or out of order.
A steamy Reverse Harem wolf shifter romance with no cheating and a guaranteed super sweet, happily ever after.

For readers who love Alpha men, and women who fall hard and fast.

••••••••••••

REVIEW:  Okay ….. Threesomes and shifters!!! I’ve read a few of these types of books, they seem to be the in thing at the moment. (1 woman and 3 men)

There hasn’t been a female wolf born into the woodlands pack for over 50 years, the population has given up hope of ever finding a mate. So the elders decided to pass a law where 3 Wolves form a triad (an Alpha, Beta and an Omega make up each little “pack”) and when they find their mate, they are to protect and guard them. But finding a mate is easier said than done. So they need to start looking for human females to breed with. (But Dexter’s pack will only mate with their Fated mate.)

Dexter is the Alpha of the pack, what he says usually goes. He’s known Jay and Taylor since they were all young, so his triad was always going to be those two. He wants a mate, and lately that’s all he can think of, someone to come home to, and someone he can have kids with, but with no females in the pack, he had to do something, and searching in the human world, seems like the only option left open to them.
Having touched Claire, he feels a jolt and when she faints at his feet, Dexter whisks her up into his arms and into the truck, then reality hits. What has he done?!?!

Jay is your omega, the caregiver, he wants a mate and a houseful of kids (in fact he would be happy to stay at home and look after the kids) he is the peacemaker, and when they find their mates, it’s going to be a happy home.

Taylor is the Beta of the group (second in command) he’s always been happy to follow Dexter’s orders. He’s the one who usually goes into town to find a little female companionship, but even that is wearing thin. How do you find your mate?

Claire is a doctor. She loves her job, not too keen on the long hours, but it comes with the job.

Waking up in a strange house isn’t Claire’s thing, but she remembers seeing a big man, shaking his hand, then nothing. And overhearing three guys talking about “sharing her” has her scared. How the hell did she get here? And what do they want? And when she sees what they can become……

This is where I get confused, previous books have the threesome looking for one female, and although Dexter said he didn’t mind sharing, when he meets Claire for the first time, he sends his pack mates away, he is fiercely jealous and guarded. (I thought it was a group decision to share?)

The foursome then have to work out how this life is going to work for them. And how will Claire cope when trouble comes knocking in the shape of angry bears?

REVIEW: This story starts with Grayson talking to Claire the human that belongs to part of the pack, she belongs to the triad of wolves (Dexter, Taylor and Jay) in book one. He wants to know how to look for his mate, and when will he know her?

Aaron is the beta of the group, Grayson’s second in command. Not as fast as Grayson but just as deadly. Prepared to protect his mate. He longs to come home to someone, to care and cook for her.

Brad is the Omega of the trio, he’s the homemaker, the caretaker of the pack. He wants a mate to care for, and children would be the icing on the cake.

Grayson is the Alpha, born to protect and provide for his pack and future mate. Now he knows there are human women out there compatible with their wolves, Grayson wants a mate for his little pack.

Neveah is married to her job. She loves being a nurse, and doesn’t think twice about pulling a double shift.

Visiting her friend Claire (we meet her in a previous book) she’s surprised and upset to hear Claire is ready to give up the double shifts and late nights, she thought they would be doing work together like the old days, once Claire comes back to work (something happened in Claire’s book, and she got injured) But Claire has a secret she needs to share with Neveah.

Neveah came across as very narrow minded and a bit of a prude, she finds out her friend is having a relationship with three other guys!!! And when Claire explains about the triad she is with, Neveah doesn’t really believe her. And for the three men being shifters!!! Well that takes a bit of convincing.

Meeting the three men/shifters proves just too much for Neveah and she leaves. She can’t or won’t commit, she’s worked too hard to get where she is, and the last man she trusted beat her and broke her trust. She can’t do it again!!!

The book then goes on to explore the feelings that Neveah has the the triad, and how the three men cope with a commitment shy female. Oh and her ex makes a nasty reappearance. And we find out why the bears want the wolves to be extinct!!!

REVIEW:  Celeste had only ever known hurt and rejection. So she was use to it, but it still came as a shock when the bears she thought of as family passed a sentence of death onto her. (She had cooked and cleaned and was practically their slave, but she still thought of them as family) so she’s gotten a little drunk a few months ago, so she’d met a stranger and had sex with him, and yes she’s gotten pregnant by said stranger, but that didn’t mean she was to die!! And what about her poor little baby? It wasn’t their fault, so Celeste did what any sensible female would do…. she ran!!!!

Tayte is the Alpha of this little triad. He met a sweet little human in a bar a few months ago, but was too drunk to realise he had his fated mate in his arms. But now he has her, and she’s pregnant. He just needs to keep her safe from the bears that will surely try to take her back!! Over his dead body, his little pack will keep her safe, and if need be, the larger pack he lives with will come to his aid if need be. But why did the bears take her in as a child? Did they know she was meant to be a mate to a wolf? The bears and wolves have never really gotten on, but to keep her away from them, did they have some ulterior motive? As Alpha of this group, he needs to find out, and fast!!

Dane is the sweet omega, he’s use to being the caregiver, the homemaker (although cooking isn’t his strongest point, he’s happy if his little pack is happy.) So when Celeste comes on the scene, yes he’s happy his family is complete, but having his mate already pregnant with the alphas child, Dane is a little insecure as to his role in the pack now, what if she doesn’t want him? What’s he to do?

Sam is Tayte’s Beta, the second in command, but with Celeste in the triad now, all manner of feelings are being stirred up, jealousy that it’s the alphas baby (with a triad it could be anyone’s baby, so all will have a vested interest) nerves, what if Tayte and Celeste don’t want to be in a triad? And hurt, Celeste didn’t even seem to worry when he and Dane left the bedroom. But he does know he will do everything in his power to keep her safe, she may not want him, but he’s bonded to her already, he would give his life up for her.

Finding their mate was great, finding out she was already pregnant with their alpha’s baby, not so great, Sam and Dane felt a little left out, what is Celeste only wanted them because they came as a triad? What if their Alpha didn’t want to share Celeste?

This book was a little different from the others, Celeste already knew about the shifter world, what she didn’t know was that she was fated to be a wolf mate and not a bear mate. With the other two books in this trilogy the human females were unaware there were shifters in the world. So they took a little more convincing they were mates to three wolf shifters.

I did find it a little harder to connect with this triad and their mate, only because of the instant love Dane and Sam had for Celeste (with the other two books it was a little slower in forming) also some of the sex scenes seemed a little forced (a good story doesn’t always need loads of unnecessary sex) but I did like the fact we had more info on why the bears were trying to find and keep human females away from the wolf packs. And I enjoyed catching up with the other two triads from previous books.
