REVIEW: RECKLESS HEARTS is the sixth instalment in Jagger Cole’s contemporary, adult DARK HEARTS dark, erotic, romance series. This is twenty-five year old Dahlia Roy, and Greek Mafia royalty Deimos Drakos’ story line. RECKLESS HEARTS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Dahlia and Deimos) using present day and memories from the past, RECKLESS HEARTS follows the acrimonious relationship between our story line couple. Six years earlier, while attending Knightsblood University, Dahlia Roy’s life would spiral out of control. Bullied by the student body for who she was, and her family’s reputation, Dahlia thought she finally found someone for love and support but the darkness continued to follow; death and destruction, secrets and lies would push our heroine to run for her life, run from the man with whom she would eventually fall in love. As Dahlia begins her life anew, the past would return, taking control, threatening the woman she had become. What ensues is the building but questionable relationship between Deimos and Dahlia, and the potential fall-out as the ultimate betrayal threatens the life of our story line heroine,

The world building focuses on Deimos’ need to take control. Six years earlier he pushed our heroine out of his life and off campus, with threats never to return but a birthday party for Deimos’ sister Callie, would bring our couple face to face, ensuring Dahlia no longer had control of her life. With a forced indentured servitude, Dahlia becomes Deimos’ lone employee and slave in an effort to protect the people she loves.

The relationship between Dahlia and Deimos is one of power and control. Dahlia’s and her mother are about to lose everything, and quite possibly their lives, therefore Deimos is determined to take by force and coercion in an effort to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. Their backstories are dark, heart breaking and distressing. The $ex scenes are erotic, provocative and not without some concerns of questionable consent.

The secondary and supporting characters are interesting and sometimes questionable. We are introduced to Dahlia’s mother Adele Roy; her step father Gerard Dumouochel, and step-brother Raphael; fellow students Victoria, Chase Cavendish Brad Hathaway, Spencer Campbell, as well as the return of Deimos’ siblings Ares, Hades, Callie and Castle, and their all-seeing grandmother Ya-ya. The requisite evil has many faces and

RECKLESS HEARTS is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, hatred and obsession, fear and anxiety, forgiveness and love. The premise is dramatic and edgy but I guessed the guilty party(s) within minutes of introduction; the forced proximity romance is tragic and fated; the characters are sensational and destructive.

Years earlier, Calliope Drakos’ father promised our heroine to the don of the Italian Mafia, a cruel man who is determined to destroy our story line heroine but Callie is in love with someone else, and struggles to accept her fate in life. An attack against our story line heroine pulls Castle James back into her life, an attack that will force Castle to claim Callie as his wife, a claim Castle vows in name only but all does not go according to plan as Callie’s attraction to Castle escalates with every physical encounter with our story line hero, as Castle’s walls begin to crumble married to the woman that calls to his heart. As Castle’s position within the Irish Mafia takes a commanding lead, someone else is determined to destroy them all. What ensues is the building relationship between Castle and Callie, and the potential fall-out when Callie and Castle are targeted, for sins of the past.

The world building continues to focus on the Irish, the Greek, and the Italian Mafia, and the Russian Bratva. Interconnected through marriage, family, partnerships, business arrangements and love, the leaders and soldiers must work together in an effort to protect two of their own.

The relationship between Callie and Castle is tempestuous at best. Callie has been in love with Castle for as long as she can remember but Callie has been promised to someone else, and Castle refuses to cross an invisible line believing himself too old and unworthy. As Callie and Castle’s need for one another begins to spiral out of control, jealousy and a need to protect force Castle to claim our heroine in spite of the threats from everywhere else. Callie is a little bit immature, and Castle keeps his demons close to his heart. The $ex scenes are aggressive and intense with some scenes of spanking.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and powerful secondary and supporting characters including Callie’s siblings, and several members of the Irish Mafia. Castle is the second in command, and will quickly learn that all is not as it seems at the top.

STOLEN HEARTS is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, heart break and pain, family, friendships, relationships and love. The premise is dark, gritty, provocative and dramatic; the romance is challenging and daring; the characters are determined and desperate.

This is head of the Bratva organization Gavan Tsarenko, and Irish Mob heiress Eilish Kildare’s story line. TWISTED HEARTS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story. Eilish is the sister of the head of the Kildare Irish Mob Cillian Kildare.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Gavan and Eilish) TWISTED HEARTS follows in the aftermath of a college sorority hazing that set up our heroine to take the fall. Owing six months of her life to Gavan Tsarenko, Eilish finds herself caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place when Gavan reveals a secret Eilish has been keeping from her mob affiliated family but everything does not go according to plan when the Bratva High Council is at odds when an outsider wants a chance at the throne. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Gavan and Eilish, and the potential fall-out as our couple find themselves target by more than one unknown adversary.

The world building continues to focus on the fight for control. The Bratva Council, including the leaders of the seven most powerful families has been brought to the brink of war, and someone else may be pulling the strings but as Eilish struggles with her ‘payment’ to Gavan Tsarenko, she will discover that she may be payment for a debt, someone else owes.

The relationship between Eilish and Gavan begins tempestuously when Eilish finds herself as the mercy of our story line hero. Eilish took from Gavan what cannot be returned, and Gavan was determined to take everything from Eilish including her freedom and person autonomy. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, provocative and intense, and not without some scenes of questionable consent.

Once again, there Is a large ensemble cast of powerful, energetic and determined secondary and supporting characters many of whom we met in previous story lines. The requisite evil has many faces but not everyone is the monster they claim to be.

TWISTED HEARTS is another graphic story of violence, abuse, power and control, betrayal and vengeance, jealousy and greed, family and relationships, forgiveness, loss and love. The fast paced premise is dark, dramatic and intense; the romance dramatic and defiant; the characters are troubled, desperate and impassioned.

Hades doesn’t do relationships but something about Elsa draws Hades like a moth to a flame, a moth that refuses to admit there is more to Elsa than meets the eye. Elsa knows that to get involved with a client could mean the end her to law career but Hades refuses to back down, or let go of our story line heroine. Hades obsessions with Elsa is the only thing that will protect our heroine when the past refuses to let go. The $ex scenes are intimate, provocative and intense with a little bit of ‘daddy kink’.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including Hades’ brothers Ares and his mate Neve, Kratos Drakos, sister Calliope Drakos, their grandmother Yaya aka Dimitra Drakos; Neve’s cousin Eilish; Elsa’s sister Nora, and head of the Kildare Irish Mob Cillian Kildare; Reznikov Bratva head Gavan Tsarenko and his captain Leo. The requisite evil has many faces. Gavan’s story line is next in TWISTED HEARTS.

Her latest target is the head of the Irish Mob Cillian Kildare, the man with whom Una will fall in love, but a man who is going to use Una to win a war. A marriage of convenience is meant to unite the warring families of the Irish Mob but all does not go according to plan when a ghost from the past, returns with a vengeance.

Cillian Kildare is a sadist; a socio-path, a psychotic madman who needs to vent his rage and his anger, and his targets are usually the lowest of the low. Since an early age, Cillian knew something wasn’t right but he would channel his need for revenge at those who deserved it the most. Having barely survived a childhood of abuse and torture, Una is the perfect outlet for our story line hero.

The relationship between Cillian and Una is an enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience predicated upon years of madness and abuse. Una was desperate to save the brother she hadn’t see in almost two years, and Cillian was the ticket to free her brother from captivity but all was not as it appeared to be, and Una’s relationship with the past was about to destroy everything she knew. The $ex scenes are aggressive, dangerous and intense.

Ares knows that to keep peace between the families, he is determined to give his marriage a chance but Neve hides a past that is about to threaten Ares tenuous hold on the woman with whom he will fall in love. Neve is feisty and furious at what has happened and why, knowing her marriage of convenience is but a bandaid on on a wound that may never heal. What ensues is the building relationship between Neve and Ares, and the potential fall-out as the past returns determined to take down our story line heroine.

The relationship between Neve and Ares is an arranged marriage, marriage of convenience, enemies to lovers meant to bring some sort of peace between the Irish and the Greek mobs, a joining of forces that will be needed when the past takes back what doesn’t belong. Neither Ares nor Neve believe their union is anything but a brokerage of peace but one night together gives them both pause for thought. Neve is defiant until the end, an end that may come sooner than she thinks when the demons from her past demand payment and more. The $ex scenes are passionate, aggressive and erotic.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and powerful secondary and supporting characters, some of whom we have met in Prince of Hate (Kings and Villains #6): the head of the Irish Mob and Neve’s uncle Cillian Kildare; Neve’s sister Eilish; bodyguard Castle; Are’s brothers Hades and Kratos, their sister Calliope, and their Ya-ya Dimitra; Neve and Eilish’s great uncle Seamus O’Conor. The requisite evil has many faces. Cillian’s story line is next.

DEVIANT HEARTS is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, madness and murder, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic, gritty, dark and tumultuous; the characters are energetic, dynamic and charismatic; the romance is intense and provocative.
