ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 3, 2021

Ink and sawdust meets brisket and moxie.

I’m a tattooed casualty.
A charmer, a fraud, a skeptic, and a carpenter.

My name is Tse.
I’m cocky enough to believe my own lies, but too oblivious to see the truth is already out there.

I’m a cautious perfectionist.
A sister, a scrapper, a dreamer, and a workhorse.

My name is Sophia.
I’m capable enough to plan ahead, yet too powerless to avoid getting blindsided.

We’re complete opposites—one who plays it safe, the other a thrill-seeker—but when old sins resurface bringing violence to the present, our path forward becomes clear.

REVIEW:EDGE OF FEAR is the fourth instalment in Freya Barker’s contemporary, adult ARROW’S EDGE erotic, MC romance series focusing on the men and women of the Arrow’s Edge MC. This is forty-two year old, carpenter and MC member Ben ‘Tse’ De Leon, and thirty-five year old, restaurant manager Sophia Vieira’s story line. EDGE OF FEAR can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion. The Arrow’s Edge MC is a spin off from the author’s ON CALL series.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the storyline premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sophia and Tse) EDGE OF FEAR follows the building romance and relationship between forty-two year old, carpenter and MC member Ben ‘Tse’ De Leon, and thirty five year old, restaurant manager Sophia Vieira. Sophia Vieira was best friend’s with Brick’s daughter Kelsey but Kelsey’s death found Sophia struggling for a place in the world until the Arrow’s Edge MC offered her the position of manager at the MC own Backyard Edge restaurant, a position that would place Sophia in the direct line of danger. Tse never thought he would find the one person to tame his heart, and meeting Sophie Vieira stirred something deep within our story line her. But all is not well behind the scenes at the Backyard Edge, and our heroine will pay the price for interfering in matters where she doesn’t belong. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Sophia and Tse and the potential fall out as betrayal and vengeance take aim at our story line heroine.

The relationship between Sophia and Tse is one of immediate attraction but someone else is vying for Sophia’s attention. Tse bides his time until he can no longer wait, letting Sophia know she is the woman that calls to his heart but Sophia is a strong, independent woman, letting Tse know she will not put up with his alpha-hero. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Yuma and Lissie ( Edge of Darkness), Lisa and Brick (Edge of Tomorrow) MC president Ouray and his wife, and FBI agent Luna; numerous club members MC members Wapi, Kaga and Lea, Trunk, Paco, Honon, Nosh; club kids Elan, Maska, and Ravi; restaurant employees Chris Boone, Bernie, Mandy, Emme; and Sophia’s parents Blossom and Duff; law enforcement Detective Ramirez and Damian Gomez. The requisite evil has many faces including a familiar one for our story line hero.

EDGE OF FEAR is a story of betrayal and vengeance, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is twisted and haunting; the romance is seductive and tender; the sexual attraction is palpable and hot; the characters are animated and edgy. EDGE OF FEAR is another great addition to Freya Barker’s ARROW’S EDGE MC.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 22, 2021

I started flirting with a guy while waiting for my car to be serviced. Now granted, he wasn’t just any guy. Tall. Dark. Hot. Mysterious. Can you blame me for wanting to talk to him? He’s in town visiting his parents. So am I. He goes to the same college as I do. Such a coincidence. Almost as if our meeting is destined…

But I shouldn’t believe in that sort of thing. I am single as a Pringle and always ready to mingle. Until I keep running into Mr. Tall, Dark and Mysterious everywhere I go. Tony Sorrento. Turns out he’s on the football team. I mean, I’m not one to chase after a sexy jock but, okay. I’m down. And did I mention he’s only a freshman?

Our fathers are business rivals, and they forbid us from dating. We need to keep this on the low. Can we remain friendly? Sure. Maybe turn our friendship into friends with benefits? Most definitely. Here’s the thing though. I didn’t plan on catching feelings for him so quickly. Seems like he’s falling pretty hard for me too.

Defying our fathers’ wishes is only asking for trouble, but is being with Tony worth the risk?

REVIEW:THE FRESHMAN is the first instalment in Monica Murphy’s contemporary, new adult THE COLLEGE YEARS romance series-a spin off from the author’s THE CALLAHANS. This is eighteen year old, college freshman Tony Sorrento, and twenty year old junior Hayden Channing’s story line. You do not have to have read The Callahans but I recommend reading the series for back story and cohesion as The College Years focuses on the secondary characters from the previous series.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Tony and Hayden) THE FRESHMAN follows the forbidden relationship between eighteen year old college freshman Tony Sorrento, and twenty year old college junior Hayden Channing. Hayden and Tony had never met before the day they found themselves at the local car dealership but unbeknownst to our couple, Tony and Hayden’s father were business rivals, and as such were forbidden from seeing one another. Upon their return to college, Tony would run into Hayden, on the first of many meetings that would eventually lead to a romantic affair but as Tony’s love for Hayden grew, threats of another nature would force Tony to chose sides between the woman with whom he was falling in love, and the family he hadn’t been close to in a very long time. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Tony and Hayden, and the potential fall-out as keeping their relationship a secret is about to be exposed.

Hayden Channing struggles with the age difference between herself and Tony but more so the possibility that her relationship with Tony is about to affect her father’s business. Tony knows that once their relationship is exposed, there may be no going back but the Sorrento family dynamics is slowly deteriorating from within.

The relationship between Hayden and Tony is one of immediate attraction but their father’s rivalry is threatening any possibility of a happily ever after. Hayden continues to struggle with Tony’s age, and Tony struggles with what is happening back home. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most if not all of the The Callahan leading couples. We are reintroduced to the original supporting characters, all of whom will have their own story to tell: Jackson and Caleb.

THE FRESHMAN is a fast paced, wonderful and exciting story line of forbidden romance; a slight age-gap love affair that is reinforced by Hayden’s continuous need to reflect on their differences. The premise is entertaining and captivating; the romance is tender and seductive; the characters are energetic and familiar but I struggled with the immature nature and attitude of the parents, often times reminiscent of what you would find in a young adult story line.

•••••

REVIEW: CHINOOK is the sixth instalment in ML Buchman’s contemporary, adult MIRANDA CHASE NTSB military, techno-thriller series focusing on NTSB investigator Miranda Chase and her team of former and current military members.

CHINOOK follows Tasia ‘Taz’ Vicki Flores aka US Air Force Colonel Vicki ‘The Taser’ Cortez aka Tanya Roberts in the aftermath of her ‘death’ following an unsanctioned attack on four major drug cartels on the south side of the Mexican border. Believed to not have survived her last mission, six months later, Colonel Vicki Cortez re-invented herself as Tasia Flores, part of a US hotshot wildfire crew, a position that would bring her up close and personal with someone from her past. Enter Jeremy Trahn, the newest member of Miranda Chase’s NTSB investigation team, and the man Tasia would always remember. As the wildfire crew disbanded for the season, Tasia would be forced to ‘work’ with the NTSB as they began in investigation into a series of ‘accidents’ involving Chinook Helicopters, and a jet plane crash on the border of Tawain, a crash meant to start a war.

CHINOOK is an infinitely detailed and complex story line rife with military and NTSB language and jargon; a story of vengeance, betrayal, power and espionage; a tale of one woman’s struggle in the aftermath of nineteen years of service to the US Air Force, and the fall-out of who she was, and the future going forward. CHINOOK is an imaginative, riveting and edgy story of a nation on the brink of war for nefarious purposes.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 25, 2021

To whom it may concern: I quit.

Preston Michael Shaw.

PMS, as I like to call him.

I don’t need his job. I don’t need his fancy designer suits or his arrogance or his claims that I put a hex on him, because of course a strong, empowered woman needs to put a spell on a man.

As if I want him.

Pfft. He should be so lucky.

I definitely don’t need his irritating demands for caramel-coconut coffee or his fixation on being on time.

Spoiler—I’m not, ever.

I certainly don’t appreciate how his touch singes my skin. Literally.

I need to stop obsessing about him. It’s just hormones.

One roll in the silk sheets and I’ll be over him.

But we can’t sleep together until my best friend—his real assistant—comes back from vacation.

Damn his admirable morals and my flaming panties.

And now I’ve been cursed, because I can’t resist the hottest, most annoying man I’ve ever known…

Author’s note: His Temporary Assistant is a standalone office romantic comedy set in our small town Kensington Square, which is near Crescent Cove. It has a happily-ever-after ending and no cliffhanger.

REVIEW:HIS TEMPORARY ASSISTANT is the first instalment in Taryn Quinn’s contemporary, adult KENSINGTON SQUARE erotic, romance series set in the authors’ Crescent Cove world. This is podcaster. artist and Tarot reader Ryan Moon, and divorce attorney Preston Michael Shaw’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Preston and Ryan) HIS TEMPORARY ASSISTANT follows the building romance and relationship between podcaster, artist and Tarot reader Ryan Moon, and divorce attorney Preston Michael Shaw. Preston Shaw’s assistant April was taking a week of unscheduled vacation and hired her best friend Ryan to take her place but to Preston’s shock, Ryan Moon, was a feisty, otherworldly, woman with no legal experience but a woman who stirred something deep within our story line hero. Five days together would quickly turn into something more but their rapidly building relationship would have Ryan faltering with what the Tarot cards had to say, and the possibility that she was falling in love with a man who was only a temporary stop in her life. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Preston and Ryan, and the potential fall- out as Preston struggles with both his personal and professional future, and Ryan battles between head and heart as it pertains to our story line hero.

Preston Shaw likes order in his life but the surprise announcement of his assistant’s vacation pushed Preston Shaw over the proverbial edge. From the outset his first encounter with Ryan was acrimonious at best but something about Ryan drew our hero like a moth to a flame. Ryan Moon never expected to fall for her best friend’s boss, knowing he had always been a consummate professional with April but Ryan was never one to tow the line, and in this, our heroine began to push all of Preston’s proverbial buttons.

The relationship between Ryan and Preston begins as a temporary position for our story line heroine but her dependency upon the Tarot cards meant Ryan struggled with the continuing results. Believing Preston to be her future, Ryan is willing to step out of her comfort zone pulling Preston along for the ride. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic, language and text.

We are introduced to Ryan’s best friend and Preston’s PA April; her mother Rainbow Moon; Preston’s brother Dexter, their parents; and veterinarian Grant Thorne.

HIS TEMPORARY ASSISTANT is story of revelations, acceptance, relationships and love; a story of family, denial, and changes. The premise is engaging and captivating ; the characters are fun and flirty; the romance is seductive and hot.

REVIEW: JUST ONE SILVER FOX is the seventh instalment in Deborah Cooke’s contemporary, adult FLATIRON FIVE FITNESS erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women who work for the exclusive Flatiron Five Fitness. This is forty-five year old, human resources manager, widow and mother Jacquie Morgan, and forty-eight year old, former Navy SEAL Pierce Aston’s story line. JUST ONE SILVER FOX can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Jacquie and Pierce) JUST ONE SILVER FOX follows the building romance and relationship between forty-five year old, human resources manager and widow Jacquie Morgan, and forty-eight year old, former Navy SEAL Pierce Aston. Twenty years earlier, a then twenty five year old Jacquie Morgan was widowed and left a single mother to four children under the age of four. In the ensuing time Jacquie worked to support her children, never having time to focus on any other relationship believing she had found the love of her life, and then lost. Meeting former Navy SEAL Pierce Aston, a member at Flatiron Five Fitness where she works as their human resources manager, gave our heroine pause but Jacquie refused to cross the line between $ex and romance, leaving Pierce Aston struggling in the wake of their one-night stand. Lonely for company Jacquie continues to give our hero mixed signals as it pertains to their building relationship and in this Pierce refuses to be Jacquie’s play thing, if only for awhile. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Jacquie and Pierce, and the potential fall-out as Jacquie’s heart has hardened to another happily ever after, pushing Pierce out of her life.

Pierce Aston has done it all, and finds it difficult adjusting to civilian life. Constantly pulled back into the world of military security, Pierce knows that to move on with his life, he is going to have to set up shop, and locate the men and women he knows and trust but falling for Jacquie Morgan was never in the plans, and said woman was refusing to accept there was something more than a one-night stand.

The relationship between Pierce and Jacquie is one of immediate attraction but Jacquie makes it clear she wants nothing more than $ex from out story line hero. Having raised four children to be successful adults, Jacquie was refusing to settle down in the wake of the demons from her past controlling the emotional fall-out of the present. Pierce Aston tired of the mixed signals, walks away, but not before professing one last time where his heart belonged. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including all four of Jacquie’s now adult children; several members of the Flatiron Five Fitness family, as well as former security specialists who have worked with our hero in the past. Here’s hoping the author has plans for a spin off series focusing on Pierce Aston and SILVER FOX SECURITY.

JUST ONE SILVER FOX is a story of second chances, of a sort, for one woman who struggles to move on from the past. The character driven premise is realistic, inviting and inspiring; the characters are edgy and spirited; the romance is intimate, provocative and seductive.

REVIEW:STRONG, SILENT COWBOY is the second instalment in the contemporary, adult, MOVING VIOLATONS erotic, romantic suspense series co-authored by Lora Leigh, and the late Veronica Chadwick. This is former CIA agent turned rancher Jacob Donovan, and feed-store manager Sallie Hamblen’s story line. STRONG, SILENT COWBOY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Sallie and Jacob) STRONG, SILENT COWBOY follows the second chance romance between former CIA agent turned rancher Jacob Donovan, and office manager Sallie Hamblen. Six years earlier, a then eighteen year old Kyra Bannon, spent a glorious weekend in Switzerland with a man she knew as Jake Rossiter, a man with whom she quickly fell in love, but also a man who disappeared without a trace. Fast forward to present day wherein, Kyra, now known as Sallie Hamblen has been on the run since the demise of her short lived marriage to another man, a marriage she believes now places her in the direct line of fire. Finding Jake Rossiter, aka Jacob Donovan, living in the small town of Deer Haven, California was more than a coincidence that Sallie refused to ignore but said man had no idea who Sallie was, or his history with the woman that would call to his heart. Keeping her distance for close to three years, Sallie caved and spent another night with our story line hero.An overwhelming sense of déjà vu, and a need to protect our story line heroine, pulled Jacob Donovan back into the world he could no longer remember but a world that threatened everyone he loved. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Sallie and Jacob, and the potential fall-out as their mutual pasts demand payment in blood.

Jacob Donovan is no longer working for the CIA. A life threatening incident almost destroyed his life, and took the memories of the time he spent with our story line heroine. Sallie Hamblen struggles with the heart breaking memories of her weekend with the man she would never forget, memories of which Jacob could no longer remember. Unable to let go of the grief and pain, Sallie continues to push our hero out of her life until threats to her life force her to run in the opposite direction.

The relationship between Jacob and Sallie is a rekindling romance; a second chance relationship between two people torn apart by secrets and lies, and a government agency determined to keep those secrets hidden deep undercover. Sallie battles between head and heart believing Jacob walked away without looking back; and Jacob’s sense of something missing is about to come full-circle when his memories return. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense, as per Lora Leigh’s style of writing.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Sallie’s step father Rance Dougal; Jacob’s grandmother Mary Ann Donovan; ranch manager John Grange; former military or FBI agents turned ranchers Justice, Rancor, and Pride Culpepper; Sallie’s friends Lily and Shay; and office assistant Tara Danner. Here’s hoping Lora has plans for the Culpepper siblings.

STRONG, SILENT COWBOY is a story of betrayal, secrets, forgiveness and love. There are a number of issues with the way the story, and history has been presented, including a three year gap where apparently Sallie and Jacob never once crossed paths in a town where everybody knows your name. There is also a bit of disconnect between events, as though the editing removed some important information. I also found issue with the purpose of Justice Culpepper’s attitude with our story line heroine but perhaps it had everything to do with the who, how and why of Sallie’s appearance in Deer Haven, California. The character driven premise is intriguing; the romance is provocative; the characters are energetic, strong minded, charismatic and wounded.

Excerpt provided by MacMillan Publishers

Jake.It had been three years. Three long, lonely, heart-broken years since he’d disappeared one snowy afternoon in Sweden.

Three years, two of which had been spent running, terrified, certain that death lurked around every corner. Now, relocated to another state, another town, another name, and the past was staring at her as though she had never existed before this moment.

“Jacob, I’d like you to meet the new manager for Dillerman’s Feed and Supply, Sallie Hamblen. Sallie, one of our most eligible ranchers, Jacob Donovan…”

Who made the introduction, she had no clue. All she knew was the man who stood in front of her, hand extended, one of those distant little curves to his lips that people gave someone they didn’t know and weren’t certain they wanted to know.

She fought to swallow, to speak. What came out of her mouth was polite enough.

“Nice to meet you.” The sound was strangled to her ears. Too rough.

She barely allowed her hand to touch his before pulling back from him. If he saw it as rude, then so be it. She couldn’t make herself do more, give more. Not now. Not with this man.

He didn’t know who she was.

The three years had been hard ones, but the stress and worry hadn’t yet marked her features. She was the same woman he’d spent three days in a bed with, three days marking her soul in ways she still hadn’t recovered from, in ways her heart couldn’t forget.

But his name was different as well.

“Where you from, Miss Hamblen?” His tone didn’t show disinterest, but there was zero familiarity.

He didn’t remember her.

The pain, the humiliation was almost overwhelming. It burned through her mind, into her chest, and struck at her heart. She’d found him after three years of searching, only to learn his name hadn’t actually been Jake Rossiter as he’d claimed, but Jacob Donovan. He was a rancher rather than attached to an embassy. But she recognized him. She’d seen him the moment he entered the room, just as he’d seen her. Their eyes had met, and then he’d turned away as though he hadn’t spent three days making her scream with pleasure. That he hadn’t disappeared from her life as though he had never truly existed.

“Miss Hamblen, are you okay?” her new assistant Tara queried in concern.

Was she okay? She was dying inside. Okay was not an option.

“I think I’m just tired.” Sallie turned to the other woman, fighting to hide her desperation to escape. “And it’s rather warm in here. I believe I’ll return to my hotel if you don’t mind, Tara.”

She ignored Jacob. She had no choice. Pain was ripping at her chest, tears threatened to fill her eyes. Oh now, wasn’t this just wonderful? She’d spent three years agonizing over him, two years of that time she’d spent running for her life. And now, he was here, staring at her, watching her curiously, but he didn’t know her. She’d mattered so little that he didn’t even remember her.

“I can take you back. Let me get my bag.” The other woman rushed off before Sallie could tell her that was okay, she’d make her own way back.

“It was nice to meet you, Mr. Donovan.” She barely forced the words past her lips. “If you’ll excuse me.”

“Of course.” A polite smile, a narrowing of his eyes, but he didn’t say anything more and allowed her to turn and walk away from him.

She pressed a hand to her stomach, wondering if it were possible to hold back the emotions tearing through her now.

This wasn’t what she’d expected to find in the small town of Deer Haven. A place to hide. Time to give her stepfather to figure out who was stalking her and why. That was all she’d hoped for when he’d deposited her in her hotel two weeks ago. Stanley Dillerman had arrived the next day and given her the manager’s position at his feed and ranching supply store, and Sallie had fought to just get through each day until she found her balance here.

Found her balance.

Yeah, that wasn’t happening now. There wasn’t a chance.

Because Jacob Donovan was here. And the weekend she’d spent with him was still a brutal, pain-filled reminder of everything she’d lost since. Everything. Especially the man and the dreams she’d once allowed herself to believe in.

chapter one

Three Years Later

Some men should be outlawed for the sake of all women worldwide. Especially tall, dark-haired, dark-eyed cowboys like Jacob Donovan.

And some women should know better than to allow themselves around them.

Most especially a woman who knew he couldn’t be trusted. One who knew exactly how dangerous he could be to her heart and to the defenses she’d built around it.

She was insane to be here, knowing he would be as well. He’d hurt her once already, and she was tempting fate, giving him a second chance to do what he’d done to her the first time around.

And she couldn’t help herself.

For three years she’d managed to stay away from him, no matter the temptation or her need. She hadn’t even meant enough to him to remember her. But she’d never been able to forget him.

His face drew the eye, commanded attention, and warned a woman she was dealing with a true alpha male.

Sun-bronzed and savagely hewn, that face didn’t betray any emotion that he didn’t willingly allow it to show, nor did the whisky brown of his gaze. Thick brown hair framed his face carelessly, falling just a little long and tempting a woman to run her fingers through it. It was warm, slightly coarse, and she’d once loved the feel and weight of it against her fingers, her breasts, between her thighs …

Broad shoulders and obviously tight abs were covered with a black cotton shirt that did nothing to hide the fact that he was truly built. Long, powerful legs were encased in denim, a wide belt cinching hips a woman would love to wrap her legs around. She’d definitely loved wrapping her legs around them.

And he wore cowboy boots.

What was it about cowboy boots that made a man look so damned sexy?

And he was sexy as hell.

The fact that he was the most desirable male in the bar wasn’t debatable.

Why didn’t he recognize her?

It had been more than a few years, and her looks had changed. In ways, everything about her, who and what she had been and was now, was completely different. She wasn’t the eighteen-year-old he’d charmed on a cold winter’s night in a foreign land. But he wasn’t the twenty-five-year-old man she’d so been fascinated with anymore either. He’d known her as Kyra, not Sallie. The man who had bound a part of her with his kiss, his touch, and three days and nights of the most incredible passion a woman could ever know, and he’d forgotten all about her when he’d left her.

Sallie drew in a long, slow breath and forced her attention from the man leaning relaxed against the bar as he talked to another rancher.

His friend was an irritant. Pride Culpepper had done everything but offer her his brothers’ ranch if she’d just go to dinner with him. The oldest brother, Justice, had actually offered the ranch, then grinned and took it back.

Lifting her beer, she took another sip of the warming drink and barely held back a grimace.

She wasn’t particularly fond of beer, or of bars. So why the hell had she allowed herself to be convinced to come to this one again? She could have just hung around the house, washed clothes, painted her nails. Or something. Instead, she was hiding in the corner of a rowdy, country music bar filled with men on the make and women pretending they weren’t there for the same thing.

Even her friends, as much as she liked them and enjoyed their company, were consumed with the search for that perfect man. And what made them think this was the place to find him, she wasn’t certain.

She had known Jacob would be there, though. He was often there with his friends. He rarely danced, never brought in a lover or chose a lover from the bar. He drank a few beers, chatted with friends, sometimes flirted with the women who came up to him, then left alone. Just as Sallie did.

She should have left when she realized he lived in the area. She should have definitely left when it was apparent he didn’t recognize her. Sallie Hamblen was nothing to the rancher who lived in Deer Haven, California, all his life. But for a moment in time, long, long ago, she’d believed she could mean something him.

She’d been introduced to him as Kyra Bannon, he’d been introduced to her as Jake Rossiter. And for one incredible weekend, she’d lived a young woman’s most passionate dream.

Her lips quirked at that thought. And like most dreams, it had been over far too quickly. He’d disappeared with a promise to return in a few hours. A promise he’d broken. He’d never returned. No one had known who he was when she asked, and her life had gone on.

Or had it?

Her gaze moved over the dance floor from where she sat in the shadowed corner, wondering if she could possibly escape while her friends were occupied. She should have never agreed to meet them. Not again. Not knowing that he’d be there, and the sight of him would torment her with memories better left forgotten.

REVIEW:COLE is the sixth and final? instalment in Eden Summers’ contemporary, adult HUNTING HER erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on a tight knit group of illegally connected friends. This is the continuing story of crime lord Cole Torian and, FBI agent Anissa Fox’s story line. COLE should not be read as a stand alone- Cole and Anissa’s story started in book three TORIAN. I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there are several recurring and ongoing themes throughout.

SOME BACKGROUND: Approximately two years earlier Penny Decker , Sebastian Decker’s sister (Decker #2) disappeared and had been held captive in Greece, as a sexual slave along with several other women, by crime lord Luther Torian. Luther Torian is the estranged father of Cole Torian (Torian #3 & Cole #6) and Keira Torian (Decker #2). In book four SAVIOR, Penny, along with the other women were rescued and brought back to safety in the USA but trouble has followed everyone home.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Cole and Anissa) COLE continues to focus on the acrimonious relationship between crime lord Cole Torian and, FBI agent Anissa Fox. Cole and Anissa’s time together in Greece found our couple at odds upon their return to America. Anissa was working undercover but in the end, Anissa remains an FBI agent, and struggles with her attraction to a man who could end her career, and her life, without hesitation. Cole Torian fell in love with our story line heroine but battles between head and heart knowing her allegiance to law enforcement, a fellow Agent, and the history of Anissa with one of his men but all is for naught when two small children with connections to their ‘family’ are abducted, and Cole is forced to make a decision to save the children or his relationship with the woman he loves. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Cole and Anissa, and the potential fall-out as Cole must come to terms with the woman he loves, and Anissa must choose between the future and her past.

Anissa Fox knows that to get involved with Cole Torian would mean the end of her FBI career but the heart wants something it cannot have, and in this Anissa continues to push away the man with whom she has fallen in love. To complicate matters, Anissa is seen as a liability by Cole Torian’s men, a liability that is better off dead, and buried along with the ‘family’s’ other secrets. Cole Torian wants Anissa Fox at all costs including the respect of the men he commands but the abduction of two young children has prioritized Cole’s current timeline, and in this Cole refuses to have any more deaths placed in his hands.

The relationship between Cole and Anissa is a sexually charged, palpable, impassioned affair fuelled by Anissa’s back and forth, up and down reaction to our story line hero. There is another man after our heroine’s heart, and in this Cole’s jealousy threatens all semblance of control. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including all the previous story line couples: Luke and Sarah (Hunter #1) Decker and Keira (Decker #2 Luca and Penny (Savior #4 & Luca #5), Benji and Layla, and their daughter Stella; Cole’s brother Tobias, as well as Mafia head Emmanuel Costa, his sons Salvatore and Remy, and his daughter Abri.

COLE is a story of family, betrayal and vengeance; power and control; relationships, friendships, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is action packed, tense and intriguing; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are strong, energetic, dynamic and lost. COLE ends on a happily ever after-for now- but the author leaves the story line open ended and the announcement of a spin off series with cameos from some of the Hunter Her characters.
