ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 4, 2016

She’s ready for her close-up. . . .

Meagan Bishop gave up modeling after an ill-fated tryst with a sexy photographer left her career and heart in shambles. When that same sexy shutterbug makes a titillating offer to do a BDSM spread for his new photography book, she’s determined to refuse—until an anonymous blackmailer entices her to accept. Now her body is again at the whim of the man who broke her heart, and she’s finding his strong direction undeniably intriguing. . . .

Meagan is the muse Luke needs to make his shoot something special, even if it means keeping his hands off. But each new erotic scene they capture makes it harder to ignore his need to command her in the bedroom as well as the studio.

As their sexual tension explodes, Meagan’s arrangement with her extortionist becomes more perilous, putting in danger her darkest secrets and the fragile passion between Luke and her.

••••••••

REVIEW: THE EXPOSURE is the ninth full-length installment in Tara Sue Me’s contemporary, adult THE SUBMISSIVE erotic, BDSM romance series. This is Master/ artist photographer/ nightclub owner Luke DeVaan, and media corporation executive / switch submissive Meagan Bishop’s story line. THE EXPOSURE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Some of the previous story line characters play secondary and supporting roles including our original series couple Abby and Nathaniel West.

Told from dual third person points of view (Luke and Meagan) with an introductory and closing chapter through first person point of view (Abby West) THE EXPOSURE focuses on the rekindling relationship between photographer Master Luke DeVaan, and his former model Meagan Bishop. Fifteen years earlier our heroine posed for a series of nude photos for Luke DeVaan, and following one week of sexual pleasure where Luke introduced Meagan to the BDSM lifestyle, Luke walked out of Meagan’s life without a backwards glance. Fast forward to present day and Luke has been commissioned to photograph a series of BDSM images and wants Meagan to be his feature model. But threats of another nature place Meagan in a precarious position that forces our heroine to betray the man with whom she was once in love.

The relationship between Meagan and Luke is one of second chances but for Meagan there is the fear of another broken heart. Luke is a Master who wants his former lover and model to submit to his demands until he discovers that Meagan is hiding a secret that could destroy their relationship. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense. Luke likes to discipline with floggers and spanking.

The secondary and supporting characters include most of the previous story line couples as we await the birth of Dena and Jeff’s child (The Collar #6). We are introduced to Meagan’s brother Jake-a man with a dark and dangerous past that has come back to haunt our story line heroine.

THE EXPOSURE is a story of second chances; a rebuilding of a relationship destroyed fifteen years earlier that is once again threatened by sins of the past. The premise is imaginative; the characters are moving and sensual; the romance is passionate and intense. If you are a fan of the BDSM genre, the content is mild and limited to some bondage, submission and mild discipline. There are no hard –core lifestyle situations.

“Stand right there,” he said, setting up the camera. “The moon’s at the perfect angle.”
She didn’t know the first thing about angles and lighting, but if he was happy with it, she was, too. For several minutes, she swayed in the moonlight, brushed her hair back, and looked up at the sky. She’d never been photographed outside before, much less at night. There was something almost surreal about it. Magical would have been a good word if she believed in such things. Whatever it was, she felt alive.
“Can you unzip the dress by yourself?” he asked.
“I got it on alone,” she reminded him.
“I figured,” he said. “Just didn’t know if you needed help.”
“If you helped, we probably wouldn’t get any more photographs taken tonight.”
“Are you stalling?”
Maybe she was. He’d seen her naked before. Recently even. But this somehow seemed different. More personal. More intense. Just more.
Because they were alone? Or because they’d gotten to know each other better since then?
She turned so her back was to him and, looking slyly over her shoulder, she ever so slowly reached behind to her back and tugged the zipper down.
The only negative to having him as her photographer was the inability to see his eyes. Of course, maybe that was for the best, because this way she could pretend his expression held anything she wanted it to. Yes. Tonight she would play his moonlit muse and he would love her for it.
She looked off to her side as the gown slowly slipped from her shoulders and bit her lip as if unsure about what she was doing. In her mind and for the camera, she became someone else. She was an inexperienced siren gradually becoming aware of the power she held over the men around her. She turned her body slowly, brushing her hair over her shoulders, and twisted her hips so the gown fell softly to the ground.
Forget holding power over men, there was only one man she cared about. Luke.
He was silent as he worked, but she didn’t mistake the sharp intake of breath when she was finally naked and faced him fully. Even then, she wouldn’t look the camera in the eye for fear it would break the spell they were both weaving.
Together in the moonlight, they became the creators of an untold story. Making magic with the way she moved her body and the way he captured what he saw through his lens. No words were spoken while they worked. None were needed. For whatever reason, when he picked up his camera and focused it on her, they moved as one. It had been that way before and the years hadn’t diminished that.
Though she wasn’t watching him, she sensed when he stopped and put the camera down. She was surprised he’d finished, time seemed to have flown. But even more surprising was the realization she wasn’t ready for the night to be over.
She heard rustling as he put the camera away.
“You can get dressed if you want,” he said, breaking the silence, but not the spell. “Or I can go get you a robe.”
“No.”
“You don’t want a robe?”
She turned to face him. The moon had slipped behind a tree, it was hard to make him out. “I don’t want to get dressed.”
“Meagan?”
She wasn’t sure she’d heard him so unsure before. “Come to me, Luke.”
He struggled, she could sense it from where she stood. The man versus the gentleman. The Dom versus the professional photographer.
“You’ve put the camera down,” she told him. “It’s just us. Meagan and Luke.”
Part of her knew she shouldn’t tempt him. It was too similar to what they’d done before. But she was older now and wouldn’t let her emotions get involved this time. She was a grown woman, not a girl. She took what she wanted and tonight, she wanted Luke.
“Just for tonight,” she whispered. “Tomorrow we can go back to being working partners. Tonight we’re just two people who want each other and are finally doing something about it.” She tilted her head. “You do want me, don’t you?”
He didn’t answer, but crossed the distance between them with quick steps until he stood before her. There was just enough light for her to make out the desire in his eyes. “Hell, yes, I want you.”
“Then what are you waiting for?”
“Nothing.” He framed her face. “I’m not waiting for anything.”

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 20, 2016

Submitting is just the beginning…

Sasha Blake never thought her emotional wounds would heal—that they were a part of her just like her physical scars. But that was before Cole Johnson’s boundless love and overwhelmingly sexy control set her free, unleashing a confident side that she never knew she had. He’s more than just her Master; he’s her world. And she’ll do anything he asks…

Cole’s days of restless wandering are done—he’s found everything he needs in Sasha. Now, it’s time to make it official. When his childhood home in England goes up for sale, he realizes the old estate is the perfect place to claim Sasha as his own, and the ideal opportunity to show her just how much she means to him.

As Sasha, Cole, and their closest friends from their Partners in Play community descend on the British countryside for a titillating adult vacation, the submissives and Dominants alike will test their boundaries—and have an adventure none of them will ever forget…

•••••••••

REVIEW: THE CLAIMING is a novella length installment in Tara Sue Me’s contemporary adult The Submissive erotic, romance series focusing on a group of Dominants, and the submissives they love. THE CLAIMING is the continuing story of Dom Cole Johnson, and his submissive Sasha Blake.

SOME BACKGROUND: Months earlier Sasha was bloodied and scarred following a submission lesson that went horribly wrong. Cole Johnson stepped in and built back the trust she lost long ago.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Sasha and Cole) THE CLAIMING follows Cole and Sasha as Cole returns to his childhood home in the UK, and his plans for an official claiming ceremony to make Sasha his own.

Two of the previous story line couples return to witness Cole and Sasha’s claiming: Nathaniel and Abby, as well as Julie and Daniel. We are reintroduced to Cole’s mentor in the BDSM community Fritz Brose, a man who has more than a passing interest in Cole’s former submissive Kate. The conflict comes from an outside source when Cole’s childhood friend hopes for a chance with the man she hasn’t seen in several years but for all intents and purposes this particular part of the story was a distraction to the original premise.

THE CLAIMING is a quick read: a sexy and fun story with a happily ever after for a woman whose trust and soul had been broken months before. Cole is a man whose Dominant tendencies soften when it comes to the woman he loves knowing that to break the will means to break the heart as well. The $ex scenes are graphic, intimate, erotic, and intense. The premise is intoxicating; the characters are dynamic; the romance is provocative and passionate. THE CLAIMING is a playful and energetic story where a courageous woman is claimed by the man that she loves.

When forbidden desires turn into scorching action, Sasha and Cole come face-to-face with their demons—and realize their scorching relationship might be too dangerous to last.

••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: THE MASTER is the seventh installment in Tara Sue Me’s contemporary adult SUBMISSIVE erotic, BDSM romance series. This is Master Cole Johnson, and submissive Sasha Blake. THE MASTER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.

Told from several third person perspectives THE MASTER looks at the re-training of submissive Sasha Blake. Several months earlier, our heroine was left bloody and scarred following a BDSM session that went horribly wrong. While the Dominant has been reprimanded, Sasha has been unable to enter back into the world of D/s without frightening flashbacks or panic attacks. Enter Dominant and Master Cole Johnson, the man who has agreed to re-train Sasha for the lifestyle she once loved. Agreeing to help Sasha get back into the BDSM lifestyle, Cole never expected to fall for the woman destroyed by a reckless Dom.

THE MASTER is a story of trust; of overcoming the past; and moving on from the dark and dangerous memories of the mind. Cole is not an easy Dom-he is demanding both in and out of the bedroom, and pushes Sasha out of her comfort zone into a world of Master and slave. What ensues is a building relationship that that circles the abyss of romance and love. Most of the previous storyline couples and characters play secondary and supporting roles including Nathaniel and Abby, and Daniel and Julie;

The world building continues to look at the BDSM lifestyle: the players, the participants; the rules and regulations; the possibility of finding the one who give you everything you want and need.

Tara Sue Me writes an intense story line of acceptance and love. The premise is gentler in style than previous installments; the characters are broken yet slowly healing; the romance is a slow build to a happily ever after.

During a lull in the conversation, he leaned forward and lowered his voice. “There’s a play party next weekend.”
She froze and he could see her process his words and their meaning before she relaxed. “Yes.”
“Good job, Sasha. You did what I told you to do earlier, didn’t you?” She’d remembered he wouldn’t touch her without telling her where and how.
“Yes, Sir.”
He nodded. “A fast learner. I like that. I would like for you to attend the party with me.”
He paused, gauging her reaction. Her cheeks were flushed with excitement. “I would like that,” she said.
“Since the party will be held at Master Greene’s house and I don’t know if he has granite countertops, I won’t have you wear the black lingerie.”
Her voice was calm when she asked, “What will you have me wear, Sir?”
“I’ll have it sent to you this week.” Let her think about it for a while.
“I look forward to it.”
“We won’t formally participate in any scenes, but you will serve as my submissive.”
Her lips parted and she nodded. “Yes, Sir.”
“Master Greene has asked me if he can apologize for Peter’s actions.” He watched her carefully, looking for any hint of panic.
“Will Peter be there?” she asked quietly.
“No, in fact I understand that as a result of the phone call, there’s to be a meeting to determine if he should be allowed to remain in the group.”
Her eyes widened in shock. She hadn’t heard that. He was surprised Julie hadn’t told her, but then again, Daniel might not have told Julie.
She straightened her shoulders. “In that case, I’m good with Master Greene apologizing.”
“That’s what I told him, but I also said I wanted to check with you
She nodded, but then her gaze grew distant and she looked over his shoulder.
“Everything okay?” he asked. “Are you having second thoughts?”
She slowly returned her focus to him. “No, I’m just thinking about Peter. Now that I can think about him and not risk an episode, I often find myself wondering if I missed something, some sign.”
“I understand why you’d do that, but your time would be better spent asking yourself what qualities you’re looking for in a Dom.” He reached into his pocket and took a twenty dollar bill out. “Do you know how they train people to recognize counterfeit money?”
Her forehead wrinkled and she frowned in puzzlement. “Sir?”
He passed her the twenty. “They don’t give them the counterfeit bills to study. They only touch and hold the real thing. They become so accustomed to the real money that they immediately recognize the fraud.”
“I’m not sure I understand what you’re trying to say, Sir.”
“Focus on what you want from a Dom, how you want him to treat you. Think through the characteristics of a Dom you’d like to play with. That way when you meet someone and you get to know him, you’ll recognize if he’s a fraud or not.”
She nodded.
“To make sure you understand, I want you to make a list of your top ten requirements from a Dom. We’ll go over it next time we meet.”
Her gaze grew wistful again, but she smiled and replied with a soft, “Yes, Sir.”

Nathaniel and Abby are struggling to navigate the challenging waters of their own relationship, when they get a surprising phone call from their partners in play, Dena and Jeff, who are in need of a helping hand…

Seven years ago, blonde, beautiful lawyer Dena Jenkins was tired of her carefully controlled life. Desperate for something exhilarating to help her escape the pressures of her demanding job and her senator father, she joined a steamy, local BDSM club as a submissive. There she met brooding Dominant, Jeff. The attraction between them was undeniable, and, despite Dena’s doubts, they couldn’t stay away from each other.

Except, as the years have passed, their blazing connection has proven difficult to maintain. Dena and Jeff have a history they’d rather forget, but Dena can’t let go of the past, and Jeff is ready to move across the country to give her space. Now, to save their passion, they’ll have to rediscover what it means to trust each other—and give themselves to each other completely…

•••••••••••

REVIEW: THE COLLAR is the fifth installment in Tara Sue Me’s adult, contemporary The Submissive BDSM, erotic, romance series. This is attorney and submissive Dena Jenkins, and Dominant Jeff Parks’ storyline-a second chance at love for two people whose relationship was destroyed by a mutual loss. There is a cross over with Tara Sue Me’s PARTNERS IN PLAY spin off series but I am under the impression, in the future, the two series will be combined as most of the characters play an active role in both.

Told from third person perspective alternating between the past and present (with a couple of chapters told from Abby and Nathaniel’s POV) THE COLLAR focuses on the rekindling Dom/sub relationship between Jeff and Dena, as well as their second chance at love and a happily ever after. When Jeff is asked to participate in a demonstration at the local BDSM club, he is surprised to discover that his former submissive will be his partner for the night. What ensues is an awkward situation when Dena is late for the appointment and Jeff needs to administer a punishment, as is his right, as the Dominant in charge. When Dena’s reasons for her tardiness are revealed, Jeff goes into alpha, protective mode but he is still unwilling to give Dena what it is she wants from the man with whom she is still in love.

The history between Jeff and Dena is slowly revealed from their first meeting seven years earlier, to their D/s relationship and Dena’s subsequent collaring; to falling in love, and the events that lead up to Jeff removing the collar and sending Dena on her way. Their mutual history is emotional and heartbreaking; their individual backstories are as different as night and day. Dena is a well to do attorney with the potential for a brilliant career; Jeff ran away from home when he was sixteen years old. It is Jeff’s male ego that often comes into play when he believes he is not worthy of a woman like Dena Jenkins. When a threat against Dena forces our heroine back into Jeff’s life, our couple are unable to forget about the past heartbreaks in order to move on with their lives. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative: the BDSM scenes are erotic and intense. Jeff is a true Dominant who enjoys bondage scenes, and punishes Dena for every act of disobedience; Dena is a submissive who is willing to accept Jeff’s orders and commands.

The secondary and supporting characters include Abby and Nathaniel West (The Submissive Series 1-4) whose story continues to build throughout the events of THE COLLAR; Dominant Daniel Covington, and his submissive Julie Masterson whom we have met through the spin off series PARTNERS IN PLAY are present and participating in the local demonstrations and Club scenes. We are introduced to a couple of new characters at the BDSM Club, as well as Dena’s father whose dislike of Jeff Parks is all too readily apparent. The requisite evil comes from an unknown source when personal threats are made against Dena in the form of harassing phone calls and cryptic letters.

Addressing the threats against the heroine, the storyline did not focus on the search or investigation but rather pushed the issue to the background or most of the story. In the end, the reveal and take down was quick, and the punishment is an unknown entity. I am not sure if this is an acceptable conclusion, but it is the route the author chose to go. The threat is still a viable possibility for a future storyline.

THE COLLAR is first and foremost a story about second chances; for love, for partnership, and for a new beginning. But it is also a story about misunderstandings and forgiveness between two people who have loved one another for many years but were unable to get past their heartbreak and grief. The characters are colorful, charismatic and strong; the premise is dramatic and emotional; the romance is sensual and passionate. If you are a fan of Tara Sue Me’s THE SUBMISSIVE series, THE COLLAR is a fantastic addition to your library collection.

REVIEW: THE TRAINING is the third and final installment in Tara Sue Me’s The Submissive Trilogy. Originally written as a work of fan fiction based on the Twilight series, there are definite and parallel similarities to FSOG and many similar series of the same genre.

The Training is as the title implies. The storyline focuses on the training of Abby King to be Nathaniel West’s submissive but it is also the training of a man to become a lover and protector. Throughout the series the building relationship between Abby and Nathaniel has gone from Dom and sub to friends and lovers, but it is the lovers aspect that has thrown Nathaniel’s life into turmoil. His relationship with all of his former subs has always been about business and sex but somewhere along the way, Nathaniel lost his heart to Abby King and he was looking forward to a HEA and a forever.

The sexuality aspect of the storyline followed two distinctly different paths. One ventured into a sensual yet erotic fairy tale of a building love between two people destined to become a couple; the other focused on a definitive Dom/sub relationship where at times the dominant in Nathaniel West was in opposition to the man with whom Abby had fallen in love. And herein lies the issue-where does a Dom/sub relationship end and a friends to lover relationship begin?

If you are a fan of FSOG, there is no denying the similarities but The Training is a more explicit storyline with a BDSM backdrop. Where FSOG skimmed the lifestyle, The Submissive Trilogy and The Training brings the reader into the underground world of a Dom/sub lifestyle.

The writing style, once again, is simple. Some readers may question the heroine’s (Abby King) decision to become a sub especially when she readily accepts everything that is requested and demanded (with no prior training, experience or desire). The storyline does not cross into hardcore BDSM (unless nipple clamps and suspension ropes are not your thing) but saying that, each reader will take away a different aspect to the storyline premise and the lifestyle of which is represents.

And as I have said in a prior review for FSOG, who are we to judge a lifestyle that is different from our own. This is after all a story of fiction that will make you think about what actually goes on behind the scenes of some of the most rich and powerful people in the world

The Things No One Tells You

American Author Tara Sue Me There’s a strange mixture of things involved in being an author. Many of these I gave no thought to when I started writing. I think when a lot of people imagine the day of an author, they think of someone sitting by himself or herself for hours at a time with a notebook and pen or a laptop. I won’t say those times don’t exist, I’ll just say it’s not the usual.

I’m an introvert by nature and I could spend hours in a room, by myself, working on a manuscript or plotting my next novel. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I don’t like people, it’s just that I’m perfectly content spending the day with my characters. I do wonder what it’s like for the extroverted author, is it hard for them to spend time alone, writing?

But writing is just one part of the picture. These days with social media being what it is, most authors have various online hangouts. I have both a Facebook and Twitter I’m active on (well, I’m a lot more active on Twitter than I am Facebook). I enjoy Twitter. I’ve heard it described as a never-ending cocktail party you can jump in and out of. With Twitter you can connect with and have instant conversations with people. Facebook, for me, feels different. I always feel as if I’m posting, “LET’S TALK ABOUT ME!” when I write something.

There’s a balance you have to find in what you share online. My husband is in law enforcement, so we’re a bit on the conservative side. I only call my children Oldest and Youngest, and even my dogs have aliases (no, their names really aren’t Fifi and Pierre). But at the same time you want to share part of your life with your followers.

One of my most favorite things to do as an author is meet my readers. I may be a bit (okay, a lot) on the quiet side, but I can go on and on and on about my books. Seriously, just ask my husband. In fact, I like to talk all things books, be that reading or writing.

Recently, Oldest’s teacher asked me to talk to his class about being an author. I won’t lie, I was worried. Not because I was afraid they’d throw things or fall asleep, but because I didn’t want them to pick on Oldest for his mom being a dork. I’m happy to say the talk went well and I don’t think I came across too dorkish. Again, it’s just another aspect of being an author you don’t think about.

All things considered, though, I love what I do and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Abby’s combination of innocence and willingness is intoxicating, and Nathaniel is soon determined to collar her as his own. As long as she follows his orders and surrenders herself fully to him, no one will get hurt.

But when Nathaniel begins falling for Abby on a deeper level, he realizes that the trust must go both ways—and he has secrets which could bring the foundations of their entire relationship crashing down…

REVIEW: THE DOMINANT is the second novel in Tara Sue Me’s The Submissive series focusing on Dom Nathaniel West and his sub Abby King. Originally written as fan-fiction based on FSOG and Twilight, The Submissive series has been released as a trilogy with the final installment in October 2013.

First, I must point out that THE DOMINANT is written in Nathaniel’s POV and it is the flip side/parallel to The Submissive. Where we were privy to Abby’s emotions and thoughts in The Submissive, The Dominant reveals Nathaniel’s inner most turmoil as he endeavors to keep his distance from the woman he has watched from afar. The Dominant storyline runs concurrent to The Submissive and tells the story from Nathaniel’s POV. The switch in perspectives is nothing new especially for fans of Twilight and FSOG. At the end of FSOG, E.L James offered up Chapter 1 from Christian’s POV and Stephenie Meyer attempted to write the Twilight saga from Edward’s POV with Midnight Sun.

The Dominant was interesting from the perspective that the cold façade of Nathaniel West hides the depth of his true feelings for Abby King. The background of the premise reveals that Nathaniel has known of Abby since their days in university. Abby had never previously met Nathaniel but his desire to possess and love Abigail King has long been at the forefront of his needs and wants. And the day she walks into his office, applying for the position of his submissive, Nathaniel embarks on a self-debasing internal argument. Disgusted by his own need to dominate, Nathaniel hopes to keep Abby at a distance when in reality he wants nothing more than to be loved and to love.

Once again, The Dominant is nothing new in the BDSM genre based on the fan-fic writings from the followers of the Twilight saga. If you have read the FSOG trilogy you will recognize the characterizations and storyline premises throughout The Submissive/The Dominant. In fact, there is virtually a character to character identical match between the different series especially to FSOG. The writing is simple; there is no philosophical conundrum or epic mystery to solve. The storyline focuses on a man whose need to dominate rules his personal and private life, and when he finds the one woman who offers herself up for be at his beck and call, he will find that she is the one who will finally break the ice around a heart that has been frozen for a very long time. Familiar story, familiar scenario, recognizable characters but a different perspective on the inner turmoil and emotions that befall a man who deems himself unworthy of love and commitment

Learning to Listen

I told myself it was just touch of writer’s block.

I even believed it for a few days. After all, I can be very convincing when I want to be. I was working on a new manuscript, writing a scene I’d been looking forward to diving into and one I’d spent a lot of time researching.

At first it worked, the words were coming, everyone was happy, and I was well on my way to meeting my daily word count goal.  But little-by-little, it got harder and harder.  Slowly it became forced and after awhile, it felt like I was putting words in my character’s mouth.

Something’s wrong, that little voice whispered.

Nah, I replied, I’m just tired, it’ll be better after lunch.

Except it wasn’t, so I did some laundry and helped the kids with homework and told myself I’d sleep on it.

Something’s wrong, the voice repeated the next day as I typed word after painful word.

That’s okay, I said. I’ll fix it in rewrites.

Something’s wrong, it said again the following day.

I know, I finally admitted, staring at the screen and reading over the paltry handful of words I’d managed to get out after three days. I’m the worst writer, ever. I don’t know what I was thinking, I can’t write.

But as it turns out, I’m not only convincing, I’m stubborn. I ended up finishing that scene and breathing a huge sigh of relief. I fiddled with the chapter as I read over it. Something was off, but I couldn’t decide what. Plus, it was a playroom scene, so it should have been at least a little hot, but it wasn’t. I told myself I just didn’t feel any heat because I’d read it so many times.

I have the world’s best pre-readers and crit partners. They’re quick to tell me when something’s not right, doesn’t work, or makes no sense. So, I wasn’t too surprised with the feedback I received on that chapter. “The characters are missing,” one said. I read the chapter again and realized she’d confirmed what I knew. I had words on a page, but nothing else. There was no emotion, no voice, nothing.

How do I fix it? I asked that little voice.

I’m learning that when you tune into that inner voice and really sit down and listen, the most amazing things happen. Within minutes I realized I’d written the chapter from the wrong character’s POV. It wasn’t the hero’s scene to tell, it was the heroine’s. No wonder I’d had such a hard time getting him to tell me anything.

When I sat down to rewrite the chapter everything was so much easier. The character’s showed up, there was emotion, there was voice.

And oh, yes, there was heat.

REVIEW: The Submissive is the first instalment in Tara Sue Me’s (not her real name) series originally written as a piece of fan-fiction based on the Twilight series and first published (2009) online at fanfiction.net. It is very hard to be objective with the knowledge that nothing about this particular story is original or fresh considering the glut of similar series on the market.

The Submissive follows the same general outline of several of the other number one selling erotic BDSM trilogies currently on our book shelves and, the comparisons and similarities have never been denied.

The heroine, Abigail King knows who and what Nathaniel West wants-he wants a submissive and Abigail sets her sights on claiming that position. Our hero Nathaniel believes himself to be a cold and heartless man and sets out to prove that no woman will ever win his heart but Nathaniel will be the first to admit that falling in love was never in the contract.

The Submissive is a quick read that is so similar to Fifty Shades of Grey that I read the storyline anticipating and successfully guessing the direction on virtually every page. The major difference is that Abigail goes in search of a Dom/sub relationship and knows exactly what she is getting into-exactly like Bella knowing and wanting her sparkly vampire. And the BDSM content is a little more aggressive and descriptive. I will admit that I was not a fan of the safe word – turpentine. I know, I know and there was no explanation as to why turpentine was Nathaniel’s choice.

There is little in the way of character development especially of a descriptive nature-in fact there is no physical description of the heroine that I can recall. The secondary characters are mirror images of their counterparts in FSOG and the Twilight series. There is no surprise and no secret revelation-the story is what it is –a piece of fan fiction that is perfect for a lazy afternoon when you have an hour or so to spare to indulge in a sexual fantasy of your own. I am waiting to see where the storyline takes me next.

The Submissive, for all its’ similarities to many of the other series, is an interesting storyline. Tara Sue Me puts her own spin on the BDSM genre so that in its’ own way, The Submissive is a colorful read that will catch your attention and leave you wanting more.

There are two more storylines to follow:
The Dominant-August 2013
The Training-October 2013
