Description:
Discover Alice. Private Investigator of the Supernatural.

Even the coldest hearts can burn…

After closing a big case for the Vampire Court, mage private investigator Alice Worth is relieved to be back solving magical mysteries with her ghost sidekick Malcolm and spending quality time with sexy alpha werewolf Sean. Her latest case puts her on the trail of a burglary ring targeting wealthy collectors of magical objects. Meanwhile, Alice’s grandfather, crime lord Moses Murphy, fights a local boss for control of the city. Soon a new danger emerges: Moses’s new lieutenant is someone Alice knows and this is one family reunion she wants to avoid at all costs.

When Sean is injured as a result of her investigation, Alice faces the wrath of his pack and finds herself in a carefully laid trap. To save the city from Moses and his lieutenant, she risks capture by her grandfather and unimaginable torture at his hands. To save Sean, she risks losing everything she’s fought so hard to gain. But Alice has never backed down from anything in her life and she’s not about to start now…

Review:

“Little by little, one step at a time, I was freeing myself from my past and the fortress I’d built for myself.”

Alice is back at it with mage magic, a PI license (currently employed by the Vampire court), a budding romance she’s savoring, but trying her hardest not to foul up, and evading the ever present danger that is her grandfather. Heart of Ice by Lisa Edmonds, book 3 in the Alice Worth series, displays a prowess in heart and soul, and the ice she inexorably wields like a second skin; on demand to defend herself. Another win in my opinion, another anxious wait for book 4.

Alice is working hard. When busy infiltrating hate groups to expose their anti-“supe” sentiment, she’s retrieving magical artifacts imbued with volatile power. Naturally, this innate ability of hers rankles those of “lesser means” and makes Alice the target of revenge. All part of the job, she thinks. Not so much for those who love her. This particular foe is a weaponized adversary and Alice’s protection becomes monumentally important for Sean, her werewolf beau and Charles, the vampire who’d love to be on the receiving end of her passions. When the posturing ends, both Charles and Sean scramble to outshine the other, you wonder where Alice’s heart really lies. While I’m definitely pro-vampire, Sean’s a genuinely good guy (kinda like how Peeta was good for Katniss). Alice has been fiercely independent for so long, however, Sean may end up as collateral damage; choices forcing her hand. It’s heartening to see Alice embrace her developing relationship, she genuinely feels deeply for Sean, but it may prove to be too secure in an all too insecure environment.

As the girlfriend of the alpha, pack politics are a bit more stifling than Alice anticipated and it’s really getting old being stared down and snarled at as a sign of displeasure. Those in the pack who resent her non-shifter status can just suck it! Of course that reaction is on the down-low because Alice can’t disrupt or interfere in Sean’s inner circle. Investigative work, retrieving ancient magical artifacts, and finding a place within the shifter community all tend to be harrowing and detrimental to Alice’s anonymity, which is paramount to her success as Alice Worth.

I’d previously drawn similarities between Alice and a few popular fictional characters, but allow me to declare that Alice is “Worth”-y and simply a strong ass hero. Not only can she defend herself, and others, in physical combat, and magical strengths (her spellwork is tantalizing to the senses), but she can make the toughest decisions, those of the heart, to protect the ones she loves. This comes at great cost to her, the safety of her dearest and cherished few.

I’ve said too much and not enough. I’m so happy to have started this series! Alice is always balancing happiness and duty. She will sacrifice as she sees fit, but hopes to maintain those close relationships…should they start to falter. It’s easier to ask forgiveness than permission? Oh, oh. The usually-far-from-tight noose has found its mark and Alice finds herself too exposed. How neutral will Sean be if Alice calls in vampire allies to curtail threats? I’m first in line to inhale those unfolding events. I love Alice Worth!

REVIEW: A BRAND NEW ENDING is the second instalment in Jennifer Probst’s contemporary, adult STAY erotic, romance series. This is twenty-eight year olds, writer Kyle Kimpton, and B&B owner Ophelia Bishop’s story line. A BRAND NEW ENDING can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Ophelia is Ethan’s sister (The Start of Something Good #1)

Told from dual third person perspectives (Kyle and Ophelia), as well as memories of the past written as part of Kyle Kimpton’s novel, A BRAND NEW ENDING follows the second chance/rekindling romance between twenty-eight year olds, writer Kyle Kimpton, and B&B owner Ophelia Bishop. Ten years earlier, at eighteen years of age, childhood best friends and high school sweethearts left Gardner, New York for the bright lights and warm weather of Hollywood California where Kyle would make his fortune leaving Ophelia scrambling to pick up the remains of her fantasies and dreams of becoming a world famous singer. Fast forward to present day wherein Ophelia owns and operates Robin’s Bed and Breakfast in Gardner New York, and Kyle is a number one selling author and award winning screenwriter but Kyle has lost his writing muse, and struggles to put pen to paper in an attempt to write his next best selling novel. Kyle will return to his hometown in an effort to recapture all that was lost including the woman he hasn’t stopped loving for close to ten years. What ensues is the rekindling romance between Ophelia and Kyle, and the potential fall-out as Kyle must return to California in order to promote his latest release.

Ophelia Bishop struggles between head and heart with the return of the only man she has ever loved but old memories die hard as our heroine battles the what ifs and whys of their broken relationship, and everything that led them towards separate paths without one another. Kyle Kimpton had no idea the struggle Ophelia endured, a struggle she desperately tried to make Kyle understand but Kyle was so caught up in his own career he forgot about the woman he was leaving behind.

The relationship between Kyle and Ophelia is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between childhood best friends and high school sweethearts that was destroyed by a lack of communication, egos, and a loss of support. Kyle’s return to Gardner fuels Ophelia’s anger and rage at what was and what could have been as Kyle desperately tries to understand what happened and why. Ophelia’s is determined to keep Kyle out of her life believing his current need is temporary and short-lived. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The colorful secondary and supporting characters include Ophelia’s brother and his wife Ethan and Mia; Kyle’s struggling father Patrick Kimpton; as well as a large number of guests at Robin’s B&B.

A BRAND NEW ENDING is an engaging and emotional story of family and friendship; second chances and happily ever after. The premise is inviting and spirited; the characters are strong, animated and flawed; the romance is seductive and sassy. A BRAND NEW ENDING is an intimate look at success that comes at a cost-the cost of a broken heart and a damaged relationship.

He parked the car and cut the engine.

Ten years.

Ten years since he’d come home to the small upstate New York town of Gardiner and gazed upon the staggering Shawangunk Mountains. Ten years since he’d touched snow. Ten years since he’d been surrounded by the eerie beauty of nature’s silence.

And too many years since he’d seen the only woman he’d ever loved.

They’d been the three musketeers—Ethan, Ophelia, and him—caught in a world of their own making. Memories assaulted him. Of running through the woods when they were young and racing horses barefoot as the green meadow flashed below. Of moonlight walks and late nights at Bea’s Diner, squeezed into the cracked red-vinyl booths as they spun dreams of the future and feasted on greasy burgers. Of his first kiss with Ophelia. The taste of innocence and passion mixed with Juicy Fruit chewing gum.

He closed his eyes, staggering under the raw emotions the images brought. Some of those dreams had come true for him, but the price had been brutal.

It was time to make things right.

It was time to reclaim what he’d lost.

Kyle glanced at the passenger seat, his fingers already reaching to stroke the leather laptop case. He’d left a fancy mansion behind, along with rooms filled with expensive trinkets meant to amuse, entertain, and distract the masses. He’d walked away from a gourmet chef, housekeeper, and personal trainer. His garage still held the laser-blue Lamborghini and the sleek black Hummer. He’d left the tuxedoes and designer clothes in his closet; the cedar wine cellar still filled with rare, expensive wine; and the four-poster mahogany bed that had seen too many lonely nights.

Now all he had to his name was one battered suitcase, his laptop, and a Ford Fusion rental car.

And for the first time in way too long, he felt the beginning of a creative spark—the sexy wink of his muse beckoning him closer to his childhood home, where he’d sworn he’d never return.

He grabbed his phone and tapped out a text to Ethan.

I’m here. How bad is she going to take it?

He waited a bit, until the familiar gray bubble with ellipsis popped up.

Don’t know—depends on how pathetic you look. Still have no clue why she’s mad at you.

Kyle winced as guilt punched through him. Falling in love with your best friend’s younger sister was a no-no. Running away with her was even worse. But eloping and not telling his friend about it?

There was no making amends for that one.

He cursed, then tapped his fingers again.

Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea.

Don’t be stupid—it’s a great idea! The inn isn’t booked up and she’s just being stubborn. Go inside, make nice, and I’ll be there in an hour.

He groaned and resisted the urge to bang his head against the steering wheel. When he’d asked about staying at the inn for three months to work on a new project, he’d worried Ophelia would refuse. When Ethan told him to book his ticket, he’d been relieved.

Until he found out on the plane ride that Ophelia had actually said no. Ethan had conveniently left that part out, citing in true guy code it would all be fine.

Her refusal to see him hurt more than he’d imagined it would, but now he had no choice. Everything was set in motion, and he wasn’t about to return to LA. Not only had he committed to writing this screenplay surrounded by his memories, he’d sworn to fight for a second chance with Ophelia. It was time they both faced the past, put some ghosts behind them, and figure things out. After all, it had been eight years.

She had no idea he was about to walk through her door with the intention of staying for the next three months—in the dead of winter.

That’d be bad enough, but when she heard his other piece of news?

Things were gonna get a hell of a lot worse.

He stayed in the car a few more minutes, trying to psych himself up. Maybe she’d surprise him and be open to talking things through. Maybe she wouldn’t be horrified when he told her about what he’d discovered a few months ago. Maybe it would all work out fine, just like Ethan said.

Even better?

Maybe he’d find himself again.

Grasping at all those positive possibilities, he gritted his teeth, grabbed his bag, and got out of the car.

Kyle’s Top 5 Memories With Ophelia from A Brand New Ending by Jennifer Probst

In A Brand New Ending, Kyle Kimpton and Ophelia Bishop are only eighteen years old when they decide to run away together to pursue their dreams. Leaving the family farm behind, they escape to Hollywood to get married and chase their careers. Kyle plans on being a famous writer, and Ophelia longs to be a singer as great as Adele. Unfortunately, their paths diverge and rip apart their relationship. As Kyle thrives in Hollwyood as the new hotshot screenwriter in town, Ophelia falters when she realizes in order to be famous in the music industry, she needs to change who she is. Choices are made that rip them apart, and Ophelia returns to the family farm with her heart shattered and dreams destroyed.

Kyle realizes he’s made a big mistake letting go of the only woman he’s ever loved. His memories haunt him. Here are the top five he thinks about constantly:

He remembers the first time they kissed when they were sixteen years old. Riding on horseback through the meadow, Ophelia falls off her horse, and when he frantically checks on her, they gaze into each other’s eyes and he realizes at that moment, he is in love with his best friend. They share their first kiss, and when they walk away hand in hand out of the meadow, everything has changed.

When Kyle’s abusive father blames him for his mother’s death, he runs to the only place he’s ever felt safe: the Bishop family farm. Ophelia opens the door and instantly senses his pain. She holds him tight and for the very first time, Kyle cries in her arms.

When they were young, they hung out with Ophelia’s brother, Ethan, and were called the Three Musketeers. They’d run around the small town of Gardiner, raising hell, and ending up at Bea’s Diner for her famous burgers and pies, detailing the glory of their future.

Ophelia would sneak out at night to meet him at the barns. They kept their relationship secret from Ethan and Harper (Opehlia’s siblings) and spend nights lying on a blanket, under the stars, holding hands and talking about their dreams and future.

Kyle vowed to wait until they were married to claim Ophelia as his. They get married in Vegas in a tiny chapel, by Elvis, and when they return home to their tiny apartment, they make love for the very first time.

After a decade, Kyle returns to his hometown and back to Ophelia. He intends to create many new memories with the woman he loves. He dreams of running the Inn with her side by side as he writes his new books on his terms. He wants to raise a family with her in their childhood town, and be surrounded by the people and animals he’s always loved. He wants to watch her sing again, making people happy, finally owning her special gift without fear. And this is where A Brand New Ending begins…

HERETIC (Outcasts #1) by Cyndi Friberg-a review

About the book: Release Date April 8, 2018

Restless and embittered by an abusive past, Arton the Heretic finds himself in a battle of wills with Lily, a gorgeous geneticist. She holds the key to the future of his people, but she was brought to this savage world against her will and that’s an insult she’ll not soon forget. Their attraction is instantaneous and intense, yet each has valid reasons for mistrusting the other. He wants her, is consumed with the need to claim her, but he can’t focus on the future until he deals with the past.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: HERETIC is the first instalment in Cyndi Friberg’s adult OUTCASTS , sci-fi, fantasy romance series. This is Rodyte / Harbinger Arton Lux the Heretic, and human geneticist Lily Fontenot’s story line. The OUTCASTS is a spin-off from the author’s Battle Born series.

SOME BACKGROUND: The humanoid aliens known as Rodytes needed a home and settled on two uninhabited planets they would name Scarlett and Rhett. Without any available mates, the male only Rodytes sent teams of Outcasts to kidnap any and all human females in an attempt to repopulate and find mates for their struggling males but procreation came at a price including the need for genetically matched DNA, a mutual metamorphosis, and magical intervention. A test for compatibility is filed and there may be as many as five males matched to a single female DNA. Outcasts were battle born-their mothers were Bilarrian prisoners forced to breed, with their Rodyte captors, in the hopes of restoring magic to the Rodyte people.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Arton and Lily) HERETIC follows the building but contemptuous relationship between Rodyte Arton Lux (the Heretic), and human geneticist Lily Fontenot. Lily Fontenot knows she has no genetic match amongst the Rodyte males but her services are required in an effort to aid in the mutual metamorphosis of genetically compatible couples, services Lily refuses to offer believing she and the other women are virtual prisoners of an alien Overlord. Struggling to remain positive Lily must help the Rodyte’s in their attempts to mate, ensuring a compatible match and mutual metamorphosis in opposition to her beliefs and understanding. Tethered to Overlord Kage Razel’s right hand man Arton, Lily soon finds herself enmeshed in a battle between head and heart as she slowly begins to wind her way into the other man’s mind and soul. What ensues is the slow building relationship between Arton and Lily, and the potential fall-out as Arton is unwilling to accept that Lily is his mate in the face of his horrendous upbringing as a child prisoner of the Harbinger Academy.

We are introduced to a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Arton’s mentor and Overlord Kage Razel; Lily’s friend Thea Cline, and Sara; human female Jillian and her potential mate Stront; interstellar businessman Rex Draven; Arton’s parents Kryton and Skyla; and Arton’s half-brother Sedrik and his mate Rebecca. Rex and Thea’s story line is next in Marauder.

The world building focuses on the Rodyte’s struggle to procreate and thrive. The paranormal and fantasy aspects of the characterizations include psychic abilities, dream walking, visions, ‘elf witches’ and more. For fans of Christine Feehan’s Ghostwalkers series, the premise is familiar (even the names are recognizable) in an intergalactic, sort of way !

HERETIC is an entertaining and intriguing story line. I have not read the BATTLE BORN series so there is some overload of info-dumping that is slightly overwhelming but captivated my attention. A thought-provoking series HERETIC and the OUTCASTS is engaging and fascinating; the characters are charismatic and energetic; the romance is passionate and intense.

“I didn’t mean to drag you away from Kimberly. You two seemed to be hitting it off.”
He didn’t pull his hand away from her face, struck by the tinge of something in her voice. Jealousy? And if so, why did it please him that she cared?
“Kimberly was like a leech who wouldn’t let go. She even used her sick brother’s story to hang on to me. I wasn’t doing anything more than offering sympathy,” he said, opting for the truth.
Andi blinked, unmistakable relief in her pretty brown eyes. “Really?”
“Did it bother you when you thought I was into her?” he heard himself asking, knowing he hadn’t planned to go down this road, but the attraction between them was a real, tangible thing.
His fingers itched to run through her thick, wavy hair, and he couldn’t tear his gaze from her glossed lips as she ran her tongue nervously over them. Not to mention the energy it took not to look down at her full breasts beneath the jersey.
“Would it upset you if I said it did? That watching you with her stirred up feelings that took me by surprise?”
“I shouldn’t want you, Andi. You hurt me. Took a fucking knife to my heart. But that was in the past. And what’s going on now between us is the present.”
Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, the past alive despite them both wanting to put it behind them. But everything inside him was pulled toward her now, drawn to her fragile strength and beauty.
He dipped his head and pressed his mouth to hers. Warm and giving, her soft lips moved beneath his. His hand slid around her jaw, tilting her head, giving him better access as his tongue delved into her mouth and tangled with hers. Finally, finally, finally, finally. His heart beat out the word in rapid rhythm, a long-held desire coming true as her kiss turned him inside out.
He explored the deep recesses of her mouth, tasting her essence, aware of his body’s reaction, the swell of his cock behind his jeans, the spike in adrenaline, the racing of his pulse.
Despite the pain, the anger, the hurt, this was the girl of his dreams and she was in his arms, eagerly accepting his kiss. He slid his hand into her hair, grasping the thick strands between his fingers and tugging as the kiss turned hotter and he backed her against the vanity, his waist flush against hers, his hard erection cradled between her thighs. His cock throbbed with unappeased need, desire flowing between them.
Until a hard knock sounded on the door, startling them into breaking apart. She looked at him, wide-eyed, the surprise etched in her face as strong as the shock rippling through him.
“Be right out,” he called to the person on the other side of the door.
He glanced at Andi, her face now flushed a bright red. “There’s no way to avoid walking out together, is there?” she asked.
“Whether you go first or last, whoever it is heard my voice.” Her blush deepened.
“Well, then here’s to giving them something more to talk about.”

This is cupcake shop owner Reyna Tate, and police officer Kade Sullivan’s story line. SPRING FEVER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary including tattoo artist Chynna who’s imbues her designs with a touch of magic. There is a slight time line cross-over with book one –Snowbound.

SOME BACKGROUND: Secret Heart Ink is a tattoo shop, owned by the mysterious Chynna, located in Manhattan’s Flatiron Five. Along with her sidekick Tristan, during the full moon, Chynna creates one tattoo to set two hearts afire in the hopes of the recipient finding ever lasting love.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Reyna and Kade) follows the building relationship between cupcake shop owner Reyna Tate, and police officer Kade Sullivan. Kade Sullivan was spending his ordered time-off in the small town of Honey Hill, fixing and updating his Aunt and Uncle’s home when the sexy cupcake shop owner Reyna Tate catches his eye. Kade knows his time in Honey Hill is limited but meeting small business owner Reyna Tate has Kade thinking about a possible future with the mysterious and feisty woman who refuses to acknowledge the demons from her past. What ensues is the back and forth, up and down ‘thing ‘ between Reyna and Kade, and the fall-out as Reyna is unable to let go of the past, a past that controls her head and her heart.

Reyna Tate’s issues are personal and emotional such that the demons prevent our heroine from moving on from the past. Unable to allow herself the possibility of love, Reyna goes through life waiting to be hurt, or hurting someone that she loves. Reyna’s behaviour and attitude is troubling; her back and forth is disconcerting; she struggles to reveal the truth or accept Kade for the man that he is. Kade Sullivan’s attraction to Reyna is immediate and swift but Reyna’s rules for dating leave Kade wondering if Reyna’s walls will ever come down. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

SPRING FEVER is a story of betrayal and loss; acceptance and denial; love and a happily ever after. The premise is engaging; the romance struggles in the face of Reyna’s emotional up and downs; the characters are colorful but damaged and lost. SPRING FEVER touches on issues of domestic abuse, an all too familiar reality for many women and men.

And now I was a rockstar too, on my way up. Soaring so high no one could rip me back down to earth.

The only woman who could bring me to my knees.

I would do anything to protect her. To keep her mine. And to protect my new family, the one I was sure I never wanted.

They didn’t understand how far I’d go to get the pot of gold. And then it was too late. There was no turning back.

No keeping them safe.

ROUGH AND READY (Lightning #3) by Tracy Wolff-a review

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / Google Play

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 16, 2018

Tanner: I may be a baller, but I’ve always tried to do the right thing. Maybe it’s because I’ve been in charge of my four younger sisters for half my life, or because I understand how important it is to be a role model—something I learned from my grandfather, a Southern Baptist preacher who marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. Either way, my pro football career makes it easier to give back, so when a local rec center needs help, I do my best to even the playing field. And not just because Elara Vance, the smoking hot ex-WNBA player who runs the place, has me looking to score off the field.

Elara: Before I got sidelined by an injury, my time on the court taught me that pro athletes are all flash and no substance. Sure, Tanner Green talks a good game and wields a big checkbook, but I’m not buying the whole good guy routine. Still, it’s hard to miss all the good he’s doing for my rec center and even harder to ignore the way one look from him makes me tremble in all the best ways. I just wish I knew if he’s for real. Something tells me a little one-on-one might be the only way to find out.

REVIEW:  ROUGH AND READY is the third instalment in Tracy Wolff’s contemporary, adult LIGHTNING romance series focusing on the members of the professional football team the San Diego Lightning. This is former WNBA star Elara Vance, and football player Tanner Green’s story line. ROUGH AND READY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Tanner and Elara) ROUGH AND READY follows the building relationship between This is former WNBA star Elara Vance, and football player Tanner Green. Elara’s introduction to Tanner Green is all about the fire and tenacity of a woman scorned. Hoping to be the recipient of a large donation to her children’s youth centre, Elara sees red when all of the money is allocated and given to professional football player, and San Diego Lightning team member Tanner Green’s football foundation leaving Elara’s youth centre scrambling for funds. A locker room meltdown, a quick game of pick-me-up, and an explanation about the how and why finds Elara and Tanner fast becoming friends, that quickly turns into something else. What ensues is the building love and relationship between Tanner and Elara, and the potential fall out as Elara’s past becomes the elephant in the room that continues to pick at Tanner’s over-protective heart.

Elara Vance knows success but success that has come at a cost. From the loss of familiar support, to the dark secrets of her past, Elara comes across as a powerful feminist, a ball-buster that pushes at the fringes of psychotic b*tch. Elara is a prickly heroine whose confrontational attitude was irritating and made enjoyment difficult in the early chapters. Tanner Green is a successful and well respected professional player but he too, keeps secret, a past mired in heart break and loss. Meeting Elara Vance stirs something inside Tanner Green, long thought dead by our story line hero, something that has Tanner hoping for a happily ever after.

The relationship between Tanner and Elara begins acrimoniously when Elara verbally berates and attacks our story line hero. Believing Tanner was responsible for the loss of her funding, Elara becomes the aggressor in an effort to release her pent up anger, aggression that comes across impulsive and wrong. Throughout the story a softer but damaged side of Elara is revealed, a side she has kept hidden for close to four years. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The colorful and strong secondary and supporting characters include quarterback Hunter Browning and his wife Emerson (Down and Dirty #1), and Shawn and Sage Wilson (Hot and Heavy #2); Tanner’s sister Tina, as well as a number of boys and girls, and staff members at Rebound, the centre run by Elara Vance.

ROUGH AND READY is a spirited story line. The premise is entertaining, engrossing and stimulating; the characters are confident and animated; the romance is impassioned and seductive.

I did have an issue with the book cover. Throughout the book Elara mentions Tanner’s ‘dreads’ a number of times, yet the cover model is bald, with a completely shaven head. I wish the publishers would realize that readers take the covers seriously, oft times comparing the image to the story line description.

Mistletoe Kisses by Marnie Blue – a Review

Mistletoe Kisses by Marnie Blue – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / BAM

Description:
For Officer Justin Weaver, Christmas is the most hideous time of the year. To improve his “holiday cheer,” he’s been put on Officer Kringle duty, collecting toys for the Ho-Ho-Patrol.

It’s a week in holiday hell.

Worse, it comes with an elf—his little sister’s gorgeous best friend—but Lilly Maddox isn’t so little anymore. And as an annoyingly festive reporter looking to make her mark, she’s there to document his every move.

Justin’s always had a thing for Lilly, but he refuses to go there with her. Ever. Not after watching what his mom went through as a cop’s wife. But now that they’re trapped in his squad car, avoiding her just got a lot more complicated…

Review;

Mistletoe Kisses by Marnie Blue is a cute holiday romance.  It’s a fast paced read, at times a bit too fast for my liking as I felt there wasn’t enough romance, and more time spent on the angst and drama of Justin and Lilly being back in each other’s lives.  Although I guess the drama and angst just winds up teasing us throughout the whole story as to whether or not they will wind up together and get their HEA.  So I guess it fits with the whole theme of the story.  The drama of Lilly and Justin having to deal with each other on a daily basis thanks to his Officer Kringle assignment also provides a number of humorous moments that lightens the mood and distracts us from all their drama.  I particularly liked the razzing poor Justin received from his fellow cop co-workers, especially from his partner over this Santa gig.  It had me laughing out loud and wishing it were the holiday season.

Lilly and Justin do manage to overcome their differences and fix what happened in the past between them all over the course of a couple of days.  Of course toss in the holiday season and poof, holiday magic always seems to happen.  I loved the Christmas tree shopping scene followed up by decorating the tree, and Justin living in his gramma’s house with the all pink kitchen.  The picture of a hot cop living in a house decorated almost completely in pink had me howling with laughter.  All I could think of was the tv series with June Cleaver in it.  I swear the re-runs of that tv show are still airing and would fit perfectly in Justin’s pink kitchen.  LoL!!

As I said previously Mistletoe Kisses is a rather fast read, but also enjoyable.  I mean let’s face it who doesn’t like a cute holiday romance that happens over the holidays.  There’s just something magical about the Christmas season, then toss in a couple of would be lovers and poof, holiday magic ensues.  If you’re a fan of Christmas and holiday romances then Mistletoe Kisses by Marnie Blue is must read for you.

Until next time, happy reading!!
